Q: What is this game?
A: Gaia is a Pokemon romhack.

Q: What kind of romhack is it?
A: The game is set in a totally new region (Orbtus), story/region have no real connection to official titles. It uses a Gen 3 core (FR/LG), but has many updates to Gen 6 (e.g. Pokes, movesets, Phy/Spec split, items, abilities, move power, etc). The thing that stands out about this game more than anything else, is that it feels very much like a Pokemon game. There isn't anything excessive or over the top about it, but it's pacing/story/layout very much feel like an official title does. And this, in turn, makes it pretty ideal for speedrunning.

Q: What version of the game is this?
A: V3.2, the latest one that released in Nov 2018.

Q: What Pokemon do you use for the run?
A: I'll be using Chimchar (a starter) for the whole run.

Q: Anything else you catch?
A: I'll get a Zigzagoon/Bidoof (for Rock Climb) and a water slave (for Dive/Waterfall). You're also given a Kanto starter for free (which is Ivysaur because I choose Chimchar), and are forced to catch a Pokemon in the Bug Catching Contest.

Q: What are the hard fights in this run?
A: Well remember how I mentioned this is paced like a normal Pokemon game? That means of course, the difficulty peaks at Rival 2! Aria (the second gym leader right after Rival 2) is probably the worst fight overall. Will is also fairly notable in that you have to go out of your way to get items or moves to beat him, but ends up not being so bad because of it.

Q: What's your aim time?
A: Now that I've got the sub 4, any improvement from here would be a bonus.

Q: Why the girl?
A: Because she's cute :3

Q: Why do you name yourself and slaves 'I'?
A: Because it's faster to name them one character for text purposes, and the letter 'I' gives a nice spin as if the game was self-narrating

Q: Will you do more romhack speedruns in the future?
A: The problem with romhacks are that they very rarely have a solid endpoint, as the majority are never finished. Even this one isn't "completed", it's just that it ends at the point a speedrun would end anyway, which is great (further updates are planned with post-game stuff, etc). And then the ones that are, rarely have the right pacing for speedruns. Or of course, just aren't very good lol. That being said, I'm going to *try* to find one a year, to submit for the PSR marathon each time (I did Adventures Red last year, and doin this one this year)

Q: What's PSR Marathon?
A: Pokemon Speed Run Marathon (PSR Marathon) is an annual marathon the Pokemon community does in August. It's next week, so make sure to watch!
