one of the dumbest consequences of the way this pool was decided (though he isn't himself too bothered by it), Enigami both found the desync and has actively played RBY for years, and because of the way the pool is selected can't vote on the counter thing... .-.

yeah i mean my problem w/ it anyway, I think it's not a matter of skill at all so
trying to find diff ways of measuring involvement in the community than participation in (selection-based) tournaments or impressive results in tournaments
is really super duper inadequate
like I would count stuff like signing up for the RBY cup as being something you should consider, as well as stuff like if you have a decent postcount in RoA in threads pertaining to gen 1
could also have stuff like RoA room and discord activity (getting that information from the room owners etc.)
even if u were to exclude PP, which sure there's an argument for
there's more ways to be involved in the smogon rby community
than a good rby cup run
and in fact well a lot of people who have good cup runs arent otherwise involved in any way
i dont mind rating people who did well in it higher i just think
even if u keep it smogon exclusive
there's waaaay more than just tournaments you can and should look at
:blobshrug: even ladder could be relevant. if you've got an account with a lot of games played + say like 1450+ on ladder
then sure no reason that couldn't count, it's tied closely to smogon and indicates a lot of interest in the tier
it's a metric you could use in weighing up who can participate
esp since a vote like this is really about making sure that the people who vote care not that the people who vote are the best at rby
(and also, doing developmental stuff for RBY could count too, though I think only Enigami, Plague von Karma, Beezlemon 2003 and maybe one or two other people would be included under that)
although i guess if you restrict it just to RBY OU related stuff then enigami's the only person you could really add to it for doing anything related to RBY OU dev in recent years lol

bring up some of those ideas to other members of the council and hogg
and see what they think
even if it's another u-turn, people would prefer you do things right even if it means changing your mind on things a couple times than sticking with a decision that's not as good
