  1. iTunes sound enhancer does... what?
  2.
  3. Yes, yes it does. And this, per user metalsonata over at head-fi.org:

  5. I believe what it does is feed inverted phasing from one signal into the opposite stereo signal--which 'widens' the sound. However, it also totally displaces the imaging.
  6. It can be fun for picking up background details that might be mixed a little bit low, but otherwise I'd leave it alone, as it mostly just makes things sound artificial or un-centered, as if you were 'standing' to the side of the performers that you're listening to, or even behind them.
  7. The frequencies it effects is dependent upon where you position the slider -- so if you really wanna hear every detail of those cymbals or acoustic guitar strums, you can crank it up to high, and if you wanna hear that bass line that's buried you can put it on low. That's my understanding of it, anyways.

  10. His opinion: I find that it makes everything I've ever thrown at it sound worse, though it's got its purpose. (Sometimes there's an instant gratification effect when you turn it on, as whatever you're listening to might sound more immediate and lively. This gratification never lasts for long, though...)
