  1. Physicians themselves must be the ones to undertake this daunting proposition. The soldiers of modern medicine, it these valuable alumni that must understand the implications of a world ensuing the legalization of Physician Assisted Suicide. It is often posited that it is these doctors, nurses, and other hospital tenants that will sour the possibilities offered by the suicides (disweb). However, there is no outlined incentive. If anything, it is only profitable for the physicians to prolong the lives of their patients. Less superficial, however, is the purpose and uses of medicine: to alleviate pain, offering it’s consumers a right to end their suffering. Advocating the death of patient will ill-cause would serve only to detriment the responsible physician, both in capital and in moral standing. The 1997 Oregon “Death with Dignity” act that permits these suicides has not resulted in any staggering abuse of Physician’s power. Only an estimated 15.6 Physician Assisted Suicides take place each year, with not a single one requiring review from the Oregon Medical Board (oregon.gov). It is a logical falacy, then, to assume the a global, or even domestic, legalization would result in a wide-ranged conspiracy of death-advocating Physicians.
