  1. Why Milkshakes.
  2.
  3. I like a milkshake. Maybe dairy isn't the best food but I like milkshakes. Maybe cane sugar isn't either. It is best to drink water and chew ones calories. I'm not arguing.
  4.
  5. When I drink a proper milkshake I feel satisfied. My stomach feels full and slightly heavy and I get a glow of contentment from deep inside my core. I prefer this greatly to sit-ups.
  6.
  7. Not too long ago I discovered the joys of Skip the Dishes but if I wanted a milkshake my choices were limited to Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry... *BORING!*
  8.
  9. One place has banana, some have chocolate mint, White Spot even has an excellent blueberry but it's a thin field. I set out with my bike.
  10.
  11. Lucy's is a top choice for the milkshake afficianado, as is the Cannibal Cafe, the Templeton and the Glenburn Soda Fountain. If you are lucky, DQ will make a Mr Misty syrup shake or in October, one with pumpkin pie filling. Glenburn will make a shake with any of their many soda flavours (a small for an insanely low 4 dollars). The Templeton has quite a few fruit flavours as does Lucy's and I highly recommend the guava shake at Cannibal although it's a juiceshake, not a milkshake. Shoutout to Del Monte guava nectar!
  12.
  13. So I'm thinking, if any halfway trad coffee shop has dozens of flavours, why can't a milkshake maker?
  14.
  15. And I bought a DrinkMaster. And started making shakes with juice, fruit and flavour extracts with varying success.
  16.
  17. And then I started looking on Amazon and found Torani syrups, the ones that coffeehouses use.
  18.
  19. Not all of them ship to Canada but every one I have bought so far has been a winner. So far I have 26 flavours and by my May long weekend show I will have 50 but it doesn't end there. The flavour combinations are virtually infinite. I have a few favourites like mango/coconut and banana/butter pecan.
  20.
  21. I hope to spark a milkshake flavour revolution. The bottles display wonderfully, with or without labels and usually require a high shelf which most joints have space for!
  22.
  23. In the meantime I am making Skookum milkshakes at special events and soon hope to be mobile with a food truck and a beach/bike cart. And I will sell juice shakes with vegan and yogurt options as well as Italian sodas and Spuzzum Sodashakes.
  24.
  25. Milkshakes are fun, colourful, sweet and tasty and easy to prepare!
  26.
  27.
  28. -Skookum Shakes have three ingredients: a large amount of Chapman's vanilla ice cream; a medium amount of whole local milk and a medium amount of Torani flavour syrup.
  29. -Spuzzum Sodashakes are made with Chapman's, carbonated water and Torani syrup.
  30. -Olallie Fruitshakes are made with Chapman's and juiced fruit.
  31. -DrinkMaster is a trademark of Hamilton-Beach.
