  1. You’re here because you commented on back pain.
  2.
  3. *Your back must really hurt
  4.
  5. Thanks for your concern but I’ve never experienced any pain or discomfort in my back, neck or shoulders.
  6.
  7. *Oh it will- just you wait and see.
  8.
  9. It’s certainly possible. It’s very interesting when you look at the research. Back pain is actually more closely correlated to BMI and bra fit than breast size:
  10.
  11. *There was no significant relationship between shoulder-neck pain and breast size.*
  12. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22509231
  13.
  14. *In young, nulliparous women, thoracic pain appears unrelated to breast size.*
  15. *These results together indicate that large breasted women were particularly likely to be wearing incorrectly sized and fitted bras.*
  16. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18339205
  17.
  18. *We conclude that obesity, breast hypertrophy, fashion and bra-fitting practices combine to make those women who most need supportive bras the least likely to get accurately fitted bras, so exacerbating the symptoms for which they seek surgery.*
  19. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12859918
  20.
  21. *The average amount excised from each breast was 850 g. Patients gave scores to each category both preoperatively and postoperatively. The largest improvements were seen with difficulty finding bras or clothes to fit, painful bra strap grooves*

  23.
  24. While you may have known people with large breasts who suffered neck and back pain, statistically it is extremely likely they also had elevated BMI and were wearing poorly fitted bras. Getting reduction surgery would certainly have helped them as it would reduce BMI and require newly fitted bras. I am at least 8kg underweight and don’t wear bras. It’s possible that I will be crippled by 1.6kg of weight but given that the total load would still be quite low the available scientific data seems to indicate it is not very likely.
  25.
  26. *I don’t care what some "scientific study” says everyone knows large breasts cause back pain. You’ll regret messing with what the Good Lord gave you
  27.
  28. It seems very, very important to some people (particularly those that don't like implants) that I pay an inevitable price and suffer for the Sin of Vanity. Possibly the Just World Fallacy at work. So in the interest of being sensitive to other cultures I hereby acknowledge: Yes, I am sure to eventually suffer for my vanity. Thanks again for your genuine concern for my well being and timely wisdom.
