- Bo'kui followed the three Youngbloods as they crashed through the forest in singular pursuit of the prey on their heat vision, red beams piercing the foliage in search of targets as they ran, plasmacasters and spear-like combisticks at the ready. Then blue bursts shot out and foliage exploded, followed by screeching from drones as one by one, in rapid succession, the three first hunters each scored their first hits upon their targets.
- "Hard Meat! No Mercy!" T'ua'sa and G'kon'dchah chanted over their comms as they burst through burnt brush and over rocks, across thirty noks, closing in on their wounded prey.
- Only Zo'keah moved silently, with deadly focus and utter stealth, and as such, his victim didn't even hear him coming until he was almost upon it and piercing its back with his combistick, simultaneously firing two more bursts from his plasmacaster at zero range. Flesh sizzled and burned as the Hard Meat screamed and dull yellow liquid spewed from its wounds, sizzling and smoking everywhere it landed.
- Seconds later, Zo'keah stood triumphantly over his mortally wounded target, a combistick embedded in its black flesh as the lifeblood drained from its body. The attack had been glorious-well planned and well executed at every step, like a true champion. T'ua'sa's and G'kon'dchah's own first kills, when they came, paled by comparison-appearing far more as luck and brute force than artful execution to the experienced eyes of their leader. And so Bo'kui silently declared Zo'keah the true winner of the hunt, even as each quickly cut trophies from their fallen prey then raced off into the forest again after new targets with focused determination.
- Once again, Bo'kui's first hunters fanned out across the forest while their teacher tracked them as best he could using his wrist bracer, electrovision and thermal vision, accompanied by his senses and experience.-pg.228-229 chpt.8
