Sandarian Guard

During the rise of the Champion of Light, in his wisdom he forsaw the need of a unified army to defend the lands. An army not bound or fielded by any one kingdom but that would be the defender of the Empire itself.
Thus it was that he took it upon hismelf to forge 7 of the largest Kingdoms into one, and from these pieces he created an entirely new kind of Military. One whose sole purpose, duty, and charge was Sandara. To secure her, to defend her.
This was the Sandarian Imperial Guard.
Recruited from able bodied men from the Empire itself, the Champion in his wisdom chose to establish his new Imperial army in the most fertile of floodlands, ensuring that he had the food and means to support such a vast host. Wives, families, entire villages where uprooted and relocated to these places, to grow crops, to manufacture arms, but most importantly, to breed more soldiers for the Empire. Their leaders would be chosen not by heritage or inheritence but by militaristic merit and noble deed.
The Sandarian Imperial Guard has always prided itself on being able to raise and conscript more able bodied men than any single nation in the Empire.
 Wives and mothers of many are given praise, and vast hive cities rise above the landscape churning out more men. Indeed, at it's height it boasted an army that no other nation could match. The amount of brute strength it was able to raise and bear against the forces of darkness was formidable. Wherever the Champions beckoned, they followed, and no enemy too big nor terror to great was enough to deter their numbers. For every man that fell, two more took his place. For this reason, they wear the title bestowed upon them by the by his very self, and wear it with pride:

"The Champion's Hammer."
With the loss of the Champion and their Chief Commander, there was much disheatening among the troops of the Imperial Guard. However, all was not lost. For the Empire still lived, and in time a New Emperor was Chosen.
The Guard have as they always will, sworn to serve and protect the Emperor and his Empire.
They are determined to continue their original charge. To raise soldiers and men, and defend the Sandaran Empire  with all their strength and means, and serve the Emperor. Until perhaps one day the Champion returns.
