  15. I have been researching ways to speed this up and have discovered expired domains.
  16.
  17. According to the video I'm watching, I should have really bought my expired domain first then built up my site around it, thereby creating a relevant site with juice already added. But I didn't and now i'm a bit stuck.
  18.
  19. 1. so, my question is, could I now simply buy an expired domain and migrate my new site to the wordpress on the expired domain?
  20.
  21. Seems simple enough but as usual I must be missing something else everyone would be doing it!
  22.
  23. 2. How does the backlinks from the expired domain cause the new site to rank.
  24.
  25. 3. Isn't the expired domain de-indexed
  26. 1. yes you could
  27. 2. old backlinks help, if they are good ones. Use a plugin like quick redirect to point old link urls to some of your new internal pages, and leave some to homepage.
  28. 3. Best expired domains are ones that have not dropped fully from index. Usually this means ones from auctions such as snapnames, namejet and godaddy. If it's an old domain that expired years ago and not indexed, it can still work but there are people who say it kind of loses it's power. I can't confirm or deny that.
  29. so what about re-indexing the expired domain first before migrating my site over to it, would that be an idea?
  30. I couldn't have said it any better than @smacker. Just make sure that the expired domain is clean. Check the link profile carefully and make sure that it is not spammed. Also, make sure that it does not have any Google penalty.
  31.
  32. Another option would be to redirect the expired domain to your new site. This can help your new site to get off Google sandbox faster.

  34. for that I have no definitive answer. You can only test.

  45.
  46. Re-index the expired domain is okay, just I think you have ZERO chance to find a good expired domain without paying domain hunters.
  47.
  48. Still index or not index anymore, does not indicate the quality of an expired domain, but "still index" DOES imply "a bit more secure" than not-indexed ones. (because some penalized ones got deindexed by Google, but not always)
  49. How to find these domain hunters?
  50. If you can get an expired domain with a valuable backlink profile, then it will be good to go.
  51. For a member here since 2009 with 220 posts, I'm surprised you don't know about the marketplace. Look at the BSTs of @Nargil and @jefis for example.
  52. I was out of the business for a while. I need to refresh my knowledge! Thank you!

  56. on which site/tool you prefer to check the expired domain status(spammy, etc)?
  57. 1on which site/tool you prefer to check the expired domain status(spammy, etc)?
  58. I'd recommend that you use Archive.org to check if the domain has been used for some ungodly activities in the past, such as PBN. Us Ahref to closely observe the backlink profile (sapmmed anchor and links).
