- A process server and his marijuana dealer wind up on the run from hitmen and a corrupt police officer after he witnesses his dealer's boss murder a competitor while trying to serve papers on him.
- Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city's most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him--and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they're not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.
- This movie was a pile of cow crap. Although that may be a bit unfair because cow crap can still serve a purpose as fertilizer. This was just a complete waste of a movie budget which I'll assume was spent entirely on drugs. Because that's the only way this movie could have possibly been produced. This movie was so bad that, while I was working, at the drive-in movie theater, I actually fell asleep, while walking across the field, and whacked my head on a slab of concrete that used to be some kind of heater thing. I don't actually know what it is, but it's filled with wasps and when I hit it they stung me several times. This movie was terrible, it wasn't funny, it wasn't cool, it was like watching other people smoke pot and that's never all that funny. If I wanted to see that I could have gone to work and then yelled at them. Oh, wait, I was at work, and I did yell at them, all twenty five of them. And what do you know, the ones on pot were also the only ones laughing, the rest of the people who made it through the terrible plot were also asleep; and guess who had to wake them? That's right, my pet robot R2-D2. Wait, I don't have a robot, but I may have a concussion and I need a quick trip to the hopsspitol, hospital sorry.
- I was at the premiere in Montreal and it was great; excellent comedy. For the fans of absurd humor and the Appatow's gang, those will not be disappointed . James Franco is Hilarious, seriously, he's a good actor, but i haven't seen him in a good comic role like this since Freaks and Geeks, he literally steals the show. Seth Rogen is also very funny, But not very different from his other movies, but still, i think he's great. Dany Mcbride is also very funny, the guy is just naturally funny. The story is simple, but the success of the movie lies in the complicity between the two main characters played by Seth Rogen and James Franco, two hilarious stoners running for their lives. I was maybe hoping a little bit more from indepedant film director David Gordon Green who did a decent job directing the movie. After the presentation the crew ( Seth Rogen, Judd Appatow, Dany Mcbride, Bill Hader, Craig Robinson) hosted an Q&A session, which really completed the movie, it was hilarious. For those who are still waiting for the movie, it's a very good comedy, very entertaining and i hope you like it like i did !
- Probably the most artful of the Apatow Factory comedies so far, but that's not to suggest it doesn't take being sweetly dumb just as seriously as the rest.
- Pineapple Express is based on a screenplay by Seth Rogen (who also stars in the film), Evan Goldberg, and Judd Apatow (who also produced the film). According to Apatow, the source of inspiration for Pineapple Express was <a href="/name/nm0000093/">Brad Pitt</a>'s character [a stoner named Floyd] in <a href="/title/tt0108399/">True Romance (1993)</a> (1993). "Paper Planes" by M.I.A Most viewers simply chalk it up to "suspension of disbelief". Some critics have likened Red's pseudo-immortality to Wile E. Coyote's, i.e. the ridiculous amount of punishment he is able to take is part of the joke. Others have seen it as a reference to <a href="/title/tt0478311/">Knocked Up (2007)</a> (2007) in which the character Ben Stone (<a href="/name/nm0736622/">Seth Rogen</a>), praises the cure-all purposes of marijuana. "It is, like, the best medicine. 'Cause it fixes everything. Jonah broke his elbow once. We just... got high and... it still clicks but, I mean, he's ok." One of the complaints of the action sequences in this film is that they are very start-and-stop. As stated by Seth Rogen on the DVD commentary for the film, "the action is start-and-stop because we just really didn't have the money." This is an R-rated comedy, so the censored parts are not all that spectacular. To be frank, there is not one change that seems to be worth censoring, only new dialogues and story parts have been added. There are some violent sequences at the end, but those are in the R-rated as well. a5c7b9f00b
