- I've mentioned this before but an actual reference is a study at Albert Einstein University which concluded that dancing actually makes you smarter. And it's one of a class of exercises (unlike weightlifting, for instance) that can actually grow new brain cells in adults - in the hippocampus - the coordination center. And coordination is a highly useful transferable skill - not just for dancing. You can coordinate your day, your room, your life, etc. Coordination works in space as well as time - the brain doesn't make a difference. Dancing can also help stave off Alzheimers.
- One thing you learn in good dancing routines - especially ones that change regularly - is the ability to catch on to patterns within patterns. And even patterns within patterns within patterns. Kind of a mobile Bach fugue.
- So Zumba, Tap, Jazzercise, Tango - get out there and dance.
- And yes, I'm getting smarter, so if you disagree with me you're probably wrong. Okay, just kidding. Well, kind of ;')
