  1. Pritchards condescending tone picks at Sarifs last nerve, his prosthetic hand tightening into a fist as he turns to slam it against the desk, rattling his pictures and rolling his favourite baseball off into the corner.
  2. "You think I don't know that Frank!? Adam has been on leave for two months now and we can't call him back in early AGAIN just because YOU failed to close another backdoor!"
  3. "Look, 'Boss', Jensen was on leave because of his new augments, yes? So how is it fair to the company, to our SECURITY, to let him take more time off when we need him now more than ever?"
  4. "No Frank, YOU need him-" Pritchard lets pride get the best of him, piping over his much respected boss in a less than respectful tone,
  5. "I hardly think Jensen is neccesary for a simple cybersecurity breach Sarif!"
  6. "Exactly! I hired YOU to keep the information, plans and data of this company safe, and if you can't do that we're gonna have to have a whole different conversation here!"
  7. Pritchard turns heel on toe and storms out the room, leaving Sarif leaning on his desk with both arms, his attention swiftly turned to the difference between them, one designed by himself, firm and strong, reliable in every way; the other soft tanned skin, prone to random itches and pains, but...
  8. "...'Natural'", the word rolls from his tounge with a mix of curiosity and contempt
  9. "when did 'Natural' come to mean 'Fragile'?" with a sigh he turns and walks to the corner of the room, "The most natural thing in the world is for us to improve, to innovate, and because we have the technology to change and accelerate our evolution we're playing God?" he complains, the lack of anyone in the room failing to halt the argument occupying his mind as he throws and catches his baseball in his augmented hand; everything about this arm was 'Natural' to him and he could never undestand why anyone would see it otherwise. Perhaps to a downfall.

  12. Adams hand fumbled around for his alarm, his fingertips skimming the edge of the beeping menace that had woken him, with hardly a thought the nanoceramic blade slid free from his wrist, impaling the now silent clock on the blade as he sits up, pulling it free and throwing it into the bin across the room. After all this time he still hasn't completely gotten used to his augments in his personal life. As much as he hates to admit it, Taggart was right, the trauma his body had gone through was catching up slowly, manifesting itself in the smallest ways: His Retinal Prothesis, Smart Vision, coming on when he's looking for something, his grip tightening enough to shatter glasses, feeling the electric charge of his I.L.S from simply stepping off a curb unaware, although he was thankfull it never activated below a certian height. His thoughts were quickly side-tracked as he heard the noise of a drawer being closed from his kitchen, his heckles raising as he sits up quickly, his Smart Vision coming as naturaly as opening his eyes as he stares through the wall at the source of the noise. He would recognise that figure anywhere, the small but confident stature of a woman as comfortable in the air as on foot, if not more so.
  13. "Goodmorning Malik", he calls through as he stands up and walks through, exhaustion weighing heavy on his shoulders as his vision returns to normal with a blink and his wrist-blade slips back into him, leaning aganst the doorframe to watch the female continue to rummage through his kitchen unphased by the interruption.
  14. "Morning 'Spyboy', been up long?"
  15. "Since my alarm..broke..How long have you been in my kitchen exactly?"
  16. "Your kitchen? Since you 'broke' your alarm. Your house? All night, it was easier than flying all the way back to my house in hengshai, and your couch is more comfortable than the cockpit of the Bee". Jensen chuckles a little sauntering into the living room in a stiff manner, still not used to being tired while his augments are, of course, incapable of being. Sleep had hardly been the most important thing on his mind when he was using them on the job.
  17. "You know I'm not sure how to take 'Spyboy' when you're just as affectionate towards your 'Bee'.." He attempts to smile and leans on the backrest of his couch, trying to figure what was wrong with the room. "You should have woken me, I'd have slept on the couch"
  18. "Never let it be said you're not a gentleman Jensen, and it's fine, you looked pretty damn exhausted, I figured you needed it"
  19. "Yea...Thanks. What are you doing in Detriot anyway?" He stares at Maliks jumpsuit, crumpled on the floor between his table and couch, suddenly realising what he inexplicably couldn't place. Malik came here in her jumpsuit, and it's now on her floor. He'd never seen what she wears under her jumpsuit, in her casuals a few times sure, but it must get hot in that jumpsuit, she couldn't wear much underneath. For the first time in months Jensen found his mind wandering freely on a subject other than an immediate mission.
  20. "You may be on leave, but Sarif is all over the country dealing with 'Peaceful' Protests, buisness meetings and debates about the future of augmentations as we know them." Maliks tired tone snaps Jensen out his thoughts
  21. "I didn't mean to imply-" As he turned to face the girl in the hallway he lost track of his thoughts again, the smart, calm Malik that was willing to risk her life in Hengshai so he could slip past a small army, was gone. Before him stood a tired, messy, underwear clad Faridah, the girl who slept on his couch to avoid flying any more...
  22. ...Malik loves flying, how hard must Sarif be working her? No no, he couldn't blame Sarif, he can't stand the 'humanists' he has to deal with on those business calls, or "Anti-transhumanists" as he calls them when he's particularly sick of working with them. The only one he could blame was-
  23. "I still got it" Malik teased, walking over to the couch to pick up her jumpsuit "Am I gonna have to put this back on before you can finish a sentance while looking at me?"
  24. "Oh, no I wasn't..Don't get me wrong I.." Jensen let out a small sigh of relief as she broke into giggles, dropping to sit on the couch "You're messing with me. What I was going to say was I didn't mean to imply you weren't busy. I know you weren't dropping in to see ME" He marched round and sat beside her, turning the T.V on.
  25. Picus. Eliza. He'd forgotten, or tried to forget, about the mayhem at the Panchea. Eliza had just offered him an oppertunity Sarif or any 'Anti-transhumanist' would do unspeakable things for. The oppertunity to choose the medias view on Augmentations. He hadn't made his choice, infact he wasn't sure he had the right to, before that oppertunity was taken from him. He was thrown ambushed by a cloaked soldier, a well trained soldier with a highly advanced cloak, he didn't show up on his Smart Vision, infact he'd never have known he was there if the pipes he'd hit hadn't burst spilling water around. He'd managed to slide out a wrist blade and slice across the soldiers thigh thanks to the footsteps in the pool around them, the invisible soldier managed to escape in the end, but he'd succeeded in making sure Jensen couldn't reach the terminal Eliza spoke of. he was lucky to make it out of Pancheas underbelly before the majority of the base was crushed underneath the pressure of the entire ocean. Picus. Eliza. The illuminati, if that's who is truely behind all this, were hoping he would try to tell people of what truely happened that day. Hoping he would ruin his own word, or if they didn't know the choice Eliza offered him, that he would go to the media and run straight into thier arms. He wasn't giving them that chance, this time he was doing it right.
  26. "You know this will only just annoy you, there's no way Eliza knows what happened on Panchea" Malik's soothing voice finaly broke Jensens train of thought as he nods in agreement. "I'm gonna go grab a shower, boss wants us both in at HQ today"
  27. Jensen nods again as Malik walks through his bedroom into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her as he turns the TV back off.
