1. == OFFICIAL WURM UNLIMITED /v/ GUIDE FOR NEWLADS ==
2. v.0.2. - first attempt, probably still shit, to be checked out and corrected by others
3.
4. DISCLAIMER: This guide is too long. It is too long because the game is massively complex and you have to be autistic to really become one with it. This guide is just an attempt to show newlads this complexity and give them an alternative source of info to the wiki, which is still super important to play this game and you should always have a tab of it open.
5.
6. I'll mark the shit that really helps new players a lot with a *.
7. For everything else it's not the end of the world of you skip it and read it later, though it'll still help you understand this game.
8.
9. 1. 'The fuck is this game? *
10. 2. How do I do shit? *
11. 3. Skills - get a job you nigger
12. 4. Characteristics - Basically just stats
13. 5. Religion - It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit
14. 6. Meditation - Because religion wasn't enough mumbo jumbo
15. 7. What should I do first? *
16. 8. Combat - Yeah it's not the best system in the world
17. 9. Houses - Don't build a fucking shitshack
18. 10. Mods - "Where is the map?"
19. 11. F.A.Q.
20.
21. ==========================================================================================================================================
22. 1. - 'The fuck is this game?
23. First of all: Think dwarf fortress, but you only control one dwarf first-person in an actual, three dimensional environment. Wurm is a sandbox MMO with focus on crafting, building and escaping from the cruel reality we all live in back into the middle ages, to a simpler place where you live with your buddies in a small village and everyone helps everyone else and together you grow and take on awesome projects and whatnot. Mostly this game is about jobs and becoming good at them. Want to be a village smith with your own little comfy shop visited by everyone? Or do you want to be an adventuring knight who travels through the map in order to find treasure to bring home and kill trolls'n shit? Maybe a gardener who makes sure the place looks comfy with hedges, trees and whatnot everywhere? The possibilities are almost endless, as you will find out when you check out the skills section.
24.
25. ==========================================================================================================================================
26. 2. - How do I do shit?
27. First of all to play you gotta download the client, install it, then enter IP and port and as you create your character join the kingdom everyone else plays in so you can play together against the common enemy (which may or may not be jews). You should be able to find the shit you need to connect in the wurm threads unless OP fucked up. When in doubt just ask. Ingame you then message one of the lads or ask around in global chat and they will invite you to the village which teleports you to it.
28.
29. First things first: Settings. Turn off the chat filter so you can call people faggots. It's literally the first thing on top of the window that opens when you press ESC -> Settings. If your PC isn't a toaster you can probably set all the graphics to as high as you want. Sound is self-explanatory. You can worry about text settings later, too, but I'd recommend you set "Skill Tab Updates" to always. Now for the important shit: Keybinds. There are far more actions than you have keys you can bind shit to. What's important is that you set "Toggle free look mode" to SPACE since jumping ain't a thing anyway. That way you can toggle between clicking-shit-with-the-mouse-mode and freelook mode. This is super important for menu management, which you'll do a lot. If you want to bind anything else - and you will rebind your actions a lot - the best way to do it is to press F1 and enter "bind <key> <action>", for example "bind f forage" sets F to foraging the ground for edibles. I highly recommend you bind "Open" to Q and "Take" to E but it's up to you, but you'll take a lot of items and open a lot of containers.
30.
31. First you should probably just walk around the village and explore a little while you talk to the lads in chat. You'll get an idea of what the game is all about if you observe a little (Spoiler: It's grinding). Now you'll eventually probably want to actually do shit yourself. And before you ask about all kinds of shit in the chat here is the most important advice of the entire fucking guide:
32.
33. READ THE GODDAMN WIKI
34. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Main_Page
35.
36. This game is extremely complex and without being able to look shit up you are screwed. Trust me nigga you'll want to get used to it. Now first we'll talk about skills so you get an idea of what you CAN do, and then we'll talk about what you absolutely SHOULD do first before you start your career as a professional puppeteer and toymaker or whatever.
37.
38. You will learn more at "What should I do first?".
39.
40. ==========================================================================================================================================
41. 3. Skills - get a job you nigger
42.
43. The following sections are there just to show you that YOU CAN DO ANYTHING™ in this goddamn game.
44.
45. First you gonna open that wiki, right now, and search for "skills". We gotta get you used to that. Now as you can see there are a LOT of them. Those are all the jobs and also equipment skills there are. I won't be talking about equipment each individually because it's basically just higher skill = you're better with that type of equipment. Pretty self-explanatory. But I will talk about what all the bigger, important shit is all about, in order of the ingame skill-window. If I skip a skill don't worry about it, its just equipment and pretty much self-explanatory.
46. Skills are either a main-skill or a sub-skill. For example main-skill Smithing has many different kinds of smithing to it: Making weapons as a bladesmith, making tools as a blacksmith or jewelery and pushing capitalism onto the world as a jeweler. Usually main-skills raise slower as sub-skills but there are exceptions (like Carpentry). I'll list the sub skills under their main skills, short and simple so don't have to look up each individually in the wiki.
47. You increase your skills simply by using them a lot. The higher the skill number the more competent you are but the slower the skill increase becomes. You can skill something from 1 to 10 in minutes, from 1 to 50 in a day if you don't fuck around, to reach 70 takes a while and reaching 90 needs autistic levels of grinding. You'll probably never reach 99 at anything, only true full-time-NEETS with no soul or social life can. And reaching 100 is almost impossible because of how the math behind the skill increase works. With 50 you are considered somewhat competent, with 70 you can actually call yourself a pro at that job and with 90 you are a goddamn master and the shit you make is awesome. Speaking of which, shit made has a quality number (QL) assigned to it which usually reflects the skill of who made the thing and the higher the QL the better.
48. Alright, enough of all that, here are the skills and thus all the shit you can do in this game:
49.
50. Main skill [MS]: Carpentry
51. Pretty important since you need it for building not only your own house, but also all sorts of other shit you need like your own cart and some wooden tools. Basically everyone skills this at least to 50 eventually.
52.
53. Sub skill [SS]: Fine Carpentry
54. Making shit you need for storage like barrels, storage bins and whatnot. Everyone needs this shit. Also some wooden tools.
55.
56. [SS] Bowyery - make bows. [SS] Fletching - make arrows. [SS] Toy making - make all sorts of toys like bells'n shit.
57. [SS] Ship building - build ships, actually kinda important, big ships are pretty fast.
58.
59. [MS] Woodcutting - Turn trees into logs. Only chop down old, very old and overages trees.
60.
61. [MS] Mining - Mine out caves for aquiring different kinds of stores, ores and gems. Every smith should also be a miner. Usually there are enough stones so that a Mason doesn't have to be a pro miner though.
62.
63. [MS] Digging - More important than you might think since you need to flatten or raise/lower the ground a lot. Terraforming is important. Fastest way to do so is leveling the ground. Also used for digging up play for the next job.
64.
65. [MS] Pottery - Make shit out of clay. Mostly containers for liquids. If you want to grow shit in pots you might wanna skill this. Also needed for a few tools.
66.
67. [MS] Tailoring - nothing by itself, consists of its subskills:
68.
69. [SS] Cloth tailoring - Making shit out of cloth. Like clothes. Or sails. Or satchels.
70.
71. [SS] Leatherworking - For making leather armor, saddles and quivers. And some other stuff I can't think of right now.
72.
73. [MS] Masonry - Building fences, stone buildings, statues, guard towers, forges, ovens, smelters, kilns and some furniture.
74.
75. [SS] Stone cutting - Gotta cut dem stones before you use them for masonry or paving roads.
76.
77. [MS] Ropemaking - In case you wanna hang yourself. Though you can also use ropes for building some shit or leading animals around.
78.
79. [MS] Smithing - Consists of a lot of subskills:
80.
81. [SS] Weapon smithing - With its sub-subskills blades and weaponheads.
82. Bladesmithing is not just for weapons but also for creating some of the tools which have a blade, like scythes or sickles.
83.
84. [SS] Armor smithing - Has chain-armor, plate-armor and shieldsmithing as subskills.
85. The heavier the armor the better but slower it is.
86.
87. [SS] Blacksmith - Used for almost all tools made out of metal. Extremely important job. Everyone needs good tools.
88.
89. [SS] Locksmithing - For making locks. To lock things. Like gates. Or doors. Yeah.
90.
91. [SS] Metallurgy - For making alloy metals. Steel, brass, bronze.
92.
93. [SS] Jewelery Smithing - Priests can use jewels to store favor. That's basically like mana. For casting shit.
94. Or, you know, just sell that shit and get rich.
95.
96. [MS] Cooking - Preparing ingredients mostly falls under "Cooking", the actual cooking of food is "hot food cooking", unless it's baking.
97. By the way: Each food gives you a different "affinity buff" for a small while for a certain skill. You skill that 10% faster while the buff is active. More ingredients in a recipe = longer affinity.
98.
99. [SS] Dairy Food Making - Basically just for making cheese out of milk. Why this is its own skill is beyond me.
100.
101. [SS] Hot food cooking - Almost all recipes that are not baking are HFC. There are a fuckton of recipes in this game.
102. Here, just check them out. It's not all of them, a lot of them are not documented:
103. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DQbF_4LLSv6laQc3Q5ZLq89OJ4EM7BkeYI2WGy8NB5g/edit#gid=0
104.
105. [SS] Baking - The brother of HFC, has its own recipes. Bread, pies, cakes, you name it.
106.
107. [SS] Butchering - Take corpses apart to get meat, hide, fat and whatnot.
108.
109. [SS] Beverages - Making tea or booze. You can just drink water without downsides. There is another point than thirst.
110. Think of it as affinity-potions that don't require you to be hungry to get that affinity. The buffs also last longer than for food
111.
112. [MS] Nature - Basically just another collection of subskills without being much by itself.
113.
114. [SS] Fishing - By using a fishing rod. Self-explanatory.
115.
116. [SS] Gardening - Planting trees, hedges and flowers and also harvesting herbs and spices from plants planted in pots.
117.
118. [SS] Forestry - Harvesting sprouts and fruits from trees or bushes. Trees or bushes can only be harvested once per ingame-year.
119.
120. [SS] Farming - You can grow a lot of different vegetables for cooking.
121. You also need it to grow cotton for tailoring and wemp for ropemaking. Pretty important shit actually.
122. Crops grow in Calculated Units of Natural Time, or C.U.N.T. (or just "crop cycles.").
123. Those differ from server to server but usually admins set them to a day until harvest.
124. Crops have 5 different grow stages in which you can rake through them once each stage to increase the yield.
125.
126. [SS] Milking - Milking skill does not affect milk QL. So basically: Most useless skill ever.
127.
128. [SS] Foraging - Collecting veggies, mushrooms, branches, cotton, wemp and sometimes coins from grass tiles.
129.
130. [SS] Botanizing - Same as foraging, but for herbs and spices.
131.
132. [SS] Animal taming - Feed animals stuff to tame them so they become your pet.
133.
134. [SS] Animal husbandry - Breeding animals and taking care of them.
135.
136. [SS] Meditating - If you meditate a lot you can aquire some permanent buffs or skills from it.
137. Gonna write an extra thingie about this since it's a bit more to explain.
138.
139. [SS] Papyrusmaking - So you can write notes and books and stuff ingame. So you can shitpost while you play.
140.
141. [MS] Alchemy - Pointless MS since it only consists of one SS and doesn't do anything by itself that isn't its SS.
142.
143. [SS] Natural Substances - Crafting healing items, alchemic mixtures to transform stuff, staffs and dyes.
144.
145. [MS] Toys - Pointless but "fun" bullshit.
146.
147. [SS] Yoyo - Yeah you can play with a fucking yoyo.
148.
149. [SS] Puppeteering - Yeah you can play with fucking puppets.
150.
151. [MS] Fighting - Now fighting (or FS for fighting skill) is actually very important. Check this out: https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Animal
152. This contains a list of how much FS you should have to kill different shit. It's the core skill behind all fighting. Start training on a dummy then go kill shit when you reach 20.
153.
154. [SS] Weaponless Fighting - basically weak and pointless.
155.
156. [SS]s Aggressive / Defensive / Normal Fighting - Choose the right fighting style to specialize in considering your weapon.
157.
158. [SS] Taunting - Like in other MMOs, gotta keep that aggro when you're the tank.
159.
160. [SS] Shield bashing - Stuns the opponent. Can be pretty strong.
161.
162. [MS] Healing - Basically, like Alchemy, pointless by itself, as it consists only of:
163.
164. [SS] First Aid - Fixing up your wounds, obviously. You'll need that after a battle.
165.
166. [MS] Religion - Deserves it's own thing instead of being just listed here. Basically like Meditation, but different.
167.
168. [SS] Preaching - Converting other people to your religion and skilling your faith
169.
170. [SS] Prayer - For increasing your faith. More faith unlocks more spells and more maximum favor, which is basically mana.
171.
172. [SS] Channeling - For enchanting shit to make it better or for spells like healing spells or whatever.
173.
174. [SS] Exorcism - For destroying altars, don't worry about it.
175.
176. [SS] Artifacts - Searching for super-rare artifacts which have magical powers. Only a couple of them on each server.
177.
178. [MS] Thievery - Basically you only have to worry about this since you probably don't want to be a nigger:
179.
180. [SS] Lockpicking - There are treasure chests hidden in the wilderness and you need this to get them open.
181.
182. [MS] War Machines - Yeah, they are a thing. [SS]s are: Catapults, Ballistae, Trebuchets and Turrets.
183.
184. [MS] Tracking - You can check the ground to see who or what walked on it recently.
185.
186. [MS] Paving - For paving roads out of gravel, bricks or slabs.
187.
188. [MS] Prospecting - Miners need that to find out where to find their metals.
189.
190. [MS] Coal-making - Make coal out of logs, you need coal to make steel, steel is stronk.
191.
192. [MS] Milling - Turning grains into flour. Somehow not a subskill of cooking.
193.
194. [MS] Climbing - You can climb shit you can't normally walk on by using up stamina.
195.
196. [MS] Thatching - In case you want a thatch roof you'd need that.
197.
198. [MS] Repairing - Almost forgot about this one. Pretty important, obviously, since shit breaks over time.
199.
200. So yeah, I know, this was a lot of stuff to list up. It's mostly to show you all your possibilities. Shit's
fun
.
201.
202. If you want to know how to best grind a skill look it up in the wiki or ask ingame.
203.
204. ==========================================================================================================================================
205. 4. Characteristics - basically just stats
206. Basically they function like skills, they increase very slowly while you do all kinds of shit and determine your overall performance of all kinds of stuff.
207.
208. Body strength: You need 23 of that to load shit into carts and boats. The more you have the more damage you deal in combat.
209. Body stamina: The more you got the fewer breaks you'll need when you do things.
210. Body control: More BC allows you to ride better mounts. You can ride a horse at 21.
211.
212. Mind logic: More mind logic means you can put more shit to craft into the crafting queue.
213. Mind speed: "Rolf has stated in an open IRC conversation that the only effect of mind speed is to keep a Priest from overheating." - wiki
214.
215. Soul strength: Defense against spells
216. Soul depth: How much your god likes you. Don't worry about it. You can look it up later.
217.
218. If you want to know how to best grind a characteristic read the goddamn (((wiki))) or ask in chat so you can be told to read the wiki.
219.
220. ==========================================================================================================================================
221. 5. Religion - It's magic, I ain't gotta explain shit
222. But I'll do it anyway. Yeah, magic is a thing, but it's not as flashy as in other MMOs, don't worry fam. To become a priest and roll with da wizardz'n shiet you first need to become a follower of a god. You can do this by being converted to said god by a priest or by traveling to the white light or the black light depending on the god you want to follow, they are pillars of light you can see on the horizon. Then you need to pray at altars until you have 30 faith. However you can only gain faith through praying once every 20 minutes and only 5 times per day (but server resets or crashes reset this). Then, at 30 faith, you can become a priest of a god. This comes with heavy restrictions though unless they were turned off on the server because of how retarded they are.
223.
224. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Priest
225. Scroll down to see which priest is allowed to do which things.
226.
227. The gods of the white light are:
228. Fo - God of nature, good choice for people who like the nature skills. Also really good if you like fast mounts. Also: Healing spells.
229. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Fo
230.
231. Magnaron - God of fighting. If you want to be a crusader being a priest of Mag is a really good idea.
232. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Magranon
233.
234. Vynora - Goddess of working hard as fuck. 10% skillgain bonus for everything. Has a fuckton of spells and enchantments.
235. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Vynora
236.
237. The goddess of the black light is:
238. Libila - Evil goddess of evil spells, only available for the "Horde of the summoned" kingdom - so usually not available to /v/irgings.
239. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Libila
240.
241. ==========================================================================================================================================
242. 6. Meditation - Because religion wasn't enough mumbo jumbo
243. Now picking a meditation path is much less complicated. There are special tiles on the ground which need to be set up under certain conditions - for example a 3 x 3 of flat sand tiles close to water for the path of knowledge - then you just put a meditation rug in the middle of it and meditate on it. Simple as that. Different tiles for different paths, different paths do different things. As you ascend on the path you gain different abilities or permanent buffs. When you meditate on a path-tile it will say "this is indeed a special place" so to find one you usually just try meditating on different places until you find it. Here they are.
244.
245. Path of...
246. Knowledge - You can basically "scan" mobs to see their stats and whatnot.
247. But if you go really high on this path you gain a 25% skillgain boost and that's really awesome.
248. If you don't care about other paths just pick this one fam.
249. To create a knowledge tile create a flat 3 x 3 sand area next to water.
250.
251. Insanity - You can magically clean your wounds and fill your stomach. You can also teleport to a TOTALLY RANDOM place on the map.
252. But if you go really high on this path you gain a permanent 30% damage reduction on yourself. That's overpowered for fighting.
253. If you want to be a crusader you better pick this one.
254. Those tiles are sometimes created inside mines. Just meditate on different tiles until you find one.
255.
256. Power - Let's you CREATE AND COOL DOWN LAVA. Some crazy shit. Also can make you immune against traps and elemental damage.
257. But if you go really high on this path you gain a permanent 30% reduced stamina drain which... I guess is pretty nice?
258. Create a flat area on top of a mountain and you should usually find a power tile on it.
259.
260. Love - You can magically fill peoples stomaches. You can turn all aggressive mobs into friendly mobs for 3 minutes.
261. But if you go really high on this path everything you do that heals people becomes 50% stronger (including lifedrain weapons).
262. Good choice for Fo priests since they got healing spells.
263. Love tiles are near water on a flat grass tile with lots of flowers around.
264.
265. Hate - You can cast a temporary buff on yourself that increases your damage. Also another that makes NPCs incapable of targeting you.
266. But if you go really high on this path you gain permanent spell immunity. Priests hate this.
267. Problem is you can only find those tiles on "mycelium" which is this sorta corrupted ground on HOTS country. Also needs corrupted thorns.
268.
269. Since those paths have no restrictions like priests have there is basically no reason not to follow one. Takes a lot of time to reach the really good shit though since you can only gain a new level on a path every so often, the time between level gain increases with each level.
270.
271. ==========================================================================================================================================
272. 7. Shit nigga that was a lot of stuff. Now: What should I do first?
273.
274. Nigga now you learnin'
275.
276. First of all you might wanna not starve. Ask around where you can find food. You can just drink water from a river, lake or a fountain.
277. If there is no food around and the cook is asleep then just forage the ground for edibles I guess.
278.
279. Before you start to become a master at your favorite job there are some things which are important for everyone. First, since half the game is about crafting you should get a feel for how this works. So you're gonna build yourself your very own cart. You can drag it around or hitch animals to do it for you and it's basically an extended inventory. Ask people with 23+ body strengh to load three large crates, one large barrel for water and one large chest for your tools into the cart when you are done. It's basically your mobile personal storage so you don't have to carry around all your shit or build a house right away.
280.
281. To build a cart - and anything, really - you first press N. This opens up the list of shit that can be crafted. It has a search function, in it you type "large cart" and you'll then see what you need for it. Most of the materials in there need to be crafted themself so you type in the name of that thing into the search bar again to see what you'll need. If the village you are joining isn't still in its baby shoes there should be some stuff you can use in the storage and people might be willing to make the tools for you if you did not spawn with a starter set or lost it due to running into some angry shit like an idiot. So take what you need and get to work until you got all the materials. To craft shit you press B to open your crafting window which lets you combine two things or continue building unfinished shit if you put it in there. You can right click unfinished shit outside of your inventory and select "add to crafting window" if shit's too heavy to carry. Now after you're done with your cart you can grab a rope and right click -> lead wild horses, bulls or bisons to your cart and right click -> hitch them. If there are no free animals in the village you have to get out there and find them - but try to avoid getting too close to angry shit. If you do you can try to run back to the village and the guards will kill the shit that's following you.
282.
283. After that is done: Congratulations, you now have a home on two wheels and your first two pets. Don't actually turn them into pets by taming them though, else animals become capable of attacking them and you don't want to end up what we call a "wurmian flat tire" in the middle of nowhere due to a bear being a nigger.
284.
285. Next up: You gotta be able to defend yourself unless you want to hide in the village forever. For that you need to skill fighting. As I mentioned in the skills section which you probably just skipped like a cunt, you can train it up to 20 at a practice doll. If there are none around ask a carpender to build one for you. If there ain't one available take some low quality logs and a carving knive and make a lot of wooden plates to skill them. Those can still be used as fuel so they are not entirely useless, but it's mainly just for grinding carp so don't waste high quality logs on this one. Grind carp to 30 or so, then build that practice doll. You'll notice its QL is probably still shit - but it matters because with a low QL it will break in no time. So you need to improve it.
286.
287. Imping shit is a bit annoying. When you exampine a thing it will tell you how to imp it. It also has a little symbol next to it in the inventory that tells you what to use. You activate this item and then use it on the stuff you want to imp. You'll need a couple different items for that, just ask around or check storage. The QL of the shit you use for imping has to be higher than what you try to imp. Imp the dummy to 30QL or so, then you can put it down and start training. If you damage it while imping or training just right click -> repair it. Now hold up before you start bashing it. Press C - this opens your equipment. You probably got a longsword or some shit equipped. Unequip that into your inventory and instead equip something harmless, like a shaft or a branch. Now you can train at the dummy. While you do so you can grab a beer or do the dishes or whatever but every now and then you have to right click -> examine the dummy to check its damage. If it goes above 20 or so you should repair it. Your repair skill is low as fuck so it will reduce the quality of the dummy but whatever, you gotta skill that shit at SOME point and you know how to imp it to restore its QL now anyway. You now just keep bashing this dummy until you reach 20FS. This is your first real grind if you didn't have to grind carp and it will take a while. But it's important.
288.
289. After that you might want to skill some more carp to reach 21 body control, which is increased when you skill carp, so you can ride horses. That way you're faster and also you're stronger in combat when you are mounted.
290.
291. After this you can follow the career path of your choice while being well-equipped for it. You might want to ask around for an armor though in case you want to go out into the wild. Speaking of which...
292.
293. ==========================================================================================================================================
294. 8. Combat - Yeah it's not the best system in the world
295. Speaking of which, we might as well cover this real quick. Combat is simple. You right click a thing and then select attack and you will attack it. A window will pop up. In it you can select where you want to attack the enemy (protip: attack its head) and also your distance too it. Try not to be too close or too far away. Bonus points for having good footing and standing on a higher elevation than your enemy.
296.
297. To not get fucked an armor really helps. You usually start on a server equipped with some basic leather armor - but if you died you probably lost it. Nice one. Now you'll have to get a new one. Like I mentioned, the heavier the armor the slower you walk - but you will always ride at the same speed. This makes plate armor the strongest, chain is also pretty viable though. Studded leather is a bit weaker unless you are fighting trolls which are the strongest shit there is. So yeah, ask around for an armor. Hopefully the goddamn armorsmith isn't banned for using some wallhack mod while you do it. After you got your armor you're good to go, but if you can't but still have your default leather armor: Meh, it'll have to do for now. Get that fixed soon though.
298.
299. You gotta pick your fights wisely, nigger.
300. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Animal
301. Here's a list of how much FS you should have for taking on different shit. Your FS will rise as you kill shit. By the way after you kill shit make sure to butcher it with a knive and bring home as much as you can carry. Don't try to take on stuff way above your FS, your armor and mount can only compensate for it a little.
302.
303. Also, pick a weapon. Default choices are the good old huge axe for maximum damage, longsword + shield for being tanky and able to shieldbash, large maul for PvP against heavy armor or a polearm for PvP against mounted enemies.
304.
305. Bows and arrows are also a thing, but a bit annoying since you'll have to craft arrows. Plus you need to train it seperately from FS on an archery target. However on the bright side it is technically easier to skill since all you have to do is shoot arrow shafts without a pointy end on a pig or something. Different bow types are for different ranges, btw.
306.
307. Now when you fight shit you will get wounded. The more wounded you are the less stamina you got and if you fight without stamina you are weak as fuck. So: Learn how to fix yourself up. Grab some cotton, press C, right click the wounded body part, if the wound is more than light then you should definetly fix it up but it doesn't hurt to fix up smaller shit too if there is a lot of it and you got enough cotton. Also you should carry some Farmer's Salve with you. Press N and check out how to make it if there ain't some around. You can only use it on bruises, poisoned wounds or internal wounds. You'll get a lot of small bruises so it helps. The higher your first aid skill the less you will fuck up when bandaging.
308.
309. (Brotip: When you go out to fuck shit up you can bring a brush to brush wild animals to skill animal husbandry and of course a butcher knive to get that meat and hide. Also bring 4 ropes, you can lead 4 animals at once while riding another - that way you can bring home useful animals.)
310.
311. ==========================================================================================================================================
312. 9. Houses - don't build a fucking shitshack
313.
314. Eventually you'll want to have your own home to store your shit, have your private workshop to craft in and most importantly to have your own bed. You can log out in beds to gain sleep bonus while you are offline. You can use this bonus by typing "/fsleep" in chat. While you use it up you gain skill twice as fast. (There is also the mystical sleep powder you can buy from traders for a lot of money - it will give you one hour of sleep bonus.) Also you'll have a place to park your shit, maybe a little garden in the back - lots of uses.
315.
316. Since you already know how to craft shit's easier than you might thing. Check this out: https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/House_(general)
317.
318. As you can see first you need a decent amount of carp so go make some more plates out of crappy logs.
319.
320. You'll have to flatten/level an are with your shovel. Get digging. Equip the shovel, right click the ground, then flatten it. From this flat piece of ground level the surrounding tiles to the same elevation. If you hit rock you can't dig lower, get some dirt somewhere and raise the ground instead.
321.
322. Then you equip a Mallet, right click the flat tiles and plan your building there. Once the outline is done you finalize the planning and then you can start building. Right click an unfinished wall, add it to the crafting window, put a Mallet or Hammer into the other half of it and pick the wall you like. Most prefer stone or timber framed walls, wooden walls look like some hobos live in it. To build stone walls you also need some masonry. Then you go find some clay tiles, dig up the clay you need, find sand, dig that up, mix it together to get mortar, then use that and the other shit to build those walls. Don't forget to add a door. You can also add windows and whatnot.
323.
324. Once all the walls are done you can build the floors. You'll need to skill some paving for that. You can easily skill paving just by activating your shovel and pack the ground into packed dirt. You can cultivate packed dirt to make it un-packed so you can pack it again. It's simple, you need to grind that shit to different levels depending on the floor you choose.
325. Here's a selection: https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Floor_plan
326. You'll then have to cut the right stones or make some planks and get some nails depending on the floor you want.
327.
328. Last step is the roof, obviously. https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Roof
329. Same concept. Thatch roofs are kind of a pain in the ass to make, noone really bothers with it usually.
330. By now you should be able to figure this out.
331.
332. After the walls are done you can right click the building to manage its permissions to decide who gets to enter and who doesn't. You should probably deny access to every citizen first, then pick out the ones who get to enter by hand. Ask a smith for a lock for your doors, else it won't work.
333.
334. You can also build fences by right clicking tile borders with a Mallet or a Hammer and choosing the one you want.
335. Check out what you need to build the different types here: https://wurmpedia.com/index.php/Fence
336. If you like hedges you have to collect a lot of sprouts with a sickle (ask the smith) and plant them on the tile borders.
337.
338. ==========================================================================================================================================
339. 10. Mods - "Where is the map?"
340. Here comes the slightly more advanced shit but it's easier than it sounds.
341. You don't HAVE to do this but believe me, it helps a whole fucking lot.
342. Depending on which client you downloaded to play you might not have a livemap. This is important for not getting lost.
343. Same goes for a proper compass. There is a mod for that too so you can see coordinated.
344. And you could even download a mod that let's you see through walls - I mean, you'll usually get banned by the admins if you get busted using shit like that, but crap like that exists, just saying. But yeah, don't do that. That'd be ILLEGAL.
345.
346. So since I want you to learn this we're gonna install a mod together. Step-by-step.
347.
348. 1. Download https://github.com/ago1024/WurmClientModLauncher/releases/download/v0.4/client-modlauncher-0.4.zip
349. It's what sets up your game to enable mods.
350. 2. Unpack it into your game folder into "WurmLauncher". Now you have a folder where you can put mods into called "mods".
351. 3. Download https://github.com/ago1024/LiveHudMap/releases/download/v1.5/livemap-1.5.zip - thats the livemap.
352. 4. Unpack the contents of its "mods" folder into your "mods" folder.
353. 5. In "WurmLauncher" run patcher.bat
354.
355. Done! Now when you start your game you should find the livemap when you press ESC. Now you have a mini-map.
356.
357. Here's the compass mod: https://github.com/bdew-wurm/compass/releases/download/v0.1/compass-0.1.zip
358. Same as before: Unpack into mods, run patcher.bat, done. Shit's simple.
359.

364. <to be filled with dumb shit asked by newfags>
365. Don't be afraid to ask questions after you used the (((wiki))) and it wasn't enough help.
