  1. Hello, and welcome to the Fic Reviews segment of MLPCRadio. I'm your host, Bleeding Raindrops, and today we'll be looking at a few diamonds in the rough among our fandom's fiction writers.
  2.
  3. The first story we’ll be looking at is "Rainbow Typhoon" by Nonsanity.
  4. This story follows a young and ambitious Rainbow Dash, as she struggles to live up to the title of a wonderbolt. The author has an engaging voice that effectively pulls the reader right into Rainbow Dash’s head, giving us a clear view of just what makes her tick, all the while remaining completely in character to a depth rarely explored before. And that's where this story steps away from the beaten path. Soarin and Spitfire arrive at Rainbow Dash’s house to offer her the opportunity of a lifetime: A one show sub-in for one of their recently injured team members. And in classic Rainbow Dash style, she manages to miss the train and nearly ruin her one chance. The next few chapters show Rainbow Dash discovering that being a wonderbolt isn't as fun and games as she’d thought; after a report of a hurricane, Rainbow Dash is called out with the rest of the wonderbolts to aid the ponies in the path of the storm, and soon finds out that she may have to sacrifice more than just her leisurely lifestyle to prove that she’s got what it takes to be a wonderbolt. Nonsanity manages to hold the reader in suspense while plunging our spectral heroine into a foray of just about everything you might ask for in an adventure story. And wouldn't you know it? There's a touch of romance to boot. Why this story never saw the feature box is about as mysterious as the Mare-Do-Well herself.
