- >"Oh...oh my!"
- >Damn it! Did the scent of fresh blood attract more predators?
- >Rabbit still securely in your teeth, you twist around ready to kill whatever had the guts to sneak up on you while you ate.
- >Your vision is greeted with the sight of what appeared to be a...yellow...horse?
- >You shake your head, making sure that your eyes aren't deceiving you.
- >You'd seen (and ate) plenty of horses in your lifetime.
- >But never had you seen such a bright pastel colored one.
- >And were those...wings? What kind of horse had wings?
- >That rabbit you were eating couldn't have been tainted somehow could it?
- >Staring down at the morsel still locked in your jowls, the paranoia begins to overflow, so much so that you don't notice the...thing trying to talk to you.
- >"Um I'm sorry its just th-"
- >Wait...it TALKS? Good god, when was the last time you heard something talk...IN ENGLISH.
- >"And I didn't mean to disturb you, but-"
- >How long has it been...years...decades?
- >You can't remember the last time you spoke with actual words let alone held an actual conversation.
- >"It's just that I've never seen a creature like you before and-"
- >The words it speaks sink into your mind perfectly, but communicating would be almost impossible for you.
- >There's no way it would understand the gibberish you call language now...
- >You suddenly realize the yellow thing has been slowly flapping its wings and coming closer to you.
- >In a lapse in priorities, you drop the rabbit from your mouth and snarl in anger, a warning for it not to approach any further.
- >The yellow creature stops for a short while, seemingly scared by the blood covering your face.
- >But that reprieve lasts for only a moment.
- >Taking a deep breath and seemingly steeling itself, it begins its approach again albeit even slower than before if that was even possible.
- >For a moment you wonder if you would be better off to just flee, but turning your back on another creature could mean death out here.
- >A risk you couldn't take.
- >You growl as loud as possible, trying to make it clear that its not welcome, but it continues undeterred.
- >"It's o-ok n-n-now, p-p-please don't be scared."
- >Inching ever closer, it lands on the ground and reaches out towards you with a single hoof.
- >Enough was enough.
- >A single second was all it took.
- >Before it could process what had happened, your teeth had sunken into its outstretched leg.
- >You don't move, like a pitbull you keep the creature from fleeing in your jaw's vice grip.
- >Though oddly enough, it doesn't seem to be trying to escape.
- >Probably already accepting its fate.
- >Taking the moment to your advantage, you finally focus on its finer details.
- >It had an unnatural bright pink mane, high pitched voice, and an odd scent that digging into your senses.
- >An alluring smell that must mean she's female...
- >She didn't dare move, but you knew the pain must be unbearable.
- >Your teeth hadn't crushed the bone, but she was most certainly bleeding.
- >You stared with misguided anger into her eyes as she began to tear up.
- >She was holding back cries of pain, you could feel it every time she shivered.
- >Who knows how long the two of you just stared at each other.
- >But finally the silence was broken.
- >Barely managing to hear it, you sharpen your ears as they pick up a quiet...whimpering.
- >"I-I-I'm s-s-sorry."
- >The unending glare you had been giving her shifted uncomfortably.
- >She...she was apologizing?
- >"P-P-Please d-d-don't be mad."
- >Why...why would she apologize to you?
- >Something deep inside you couldn't bear hearing that.
- >You weren't stupid, as wild and crazy as you might be you knew better than to kill a fellow sentient creature.
- >They weren't prey, no matter how...delicious they might be.
- >You only killed those that posed a threat to you.
- >It's just that up until now...they've always been a threat.
- >A sensation you haven't felt in years begins to gnaw at your insides.
- >...Guilt.
- >After taking a minute to think about it, you gently release her from your grasp.
- >She looks at you in surprise, but that doesn't matter to you at all.
- >Your attention is still on her leg.
- >Blood continues to flow down it, though very lightly.
- >Laying on the cool grass, she's nursing it against her chest trying to relieve the pain.
- >You kneel down and gently grasp her hoof with your hand instead this time.
- >Ignoring her startled confusion, you begin licking the wound clean.
- >She winces from the stinging sensation.
- >Odd...her blood tastes sweet, much sweeter than the rabbit you were eating just moments ago in fact.
- >"T-thank you, it's alright now"
- >You let go of her hoof, she'll have to tend to it herself later.
- >"When I spotted you for the first time I was very surprised."
- >You reply with a grunt and begin examining her more thoroughly.
- >"I'd never seen something like you before."
- >Ignoring her rambling you begin sniffing every inch of her much like a dog would.
- >Her body smells similar to honey, the scent getting stronger the closer you get to her flank.
- >When you follow the scent closer you notice what seems to be....a tattoo of 3 butterflies?
- >"And I said to myself "You're gonna go welcome him right now missy""
- >She looks down at the bite wound on her leg and smiles weakly.
- >"...Making friends can be scary sometimes."
- >Her mane smells like various flowers.
- >You stick your nose into it and take a strong breath, etching it permanently into your brain.
- >Her tail inadvertently tickles you and makes you sneeze.
- >She giggles at that.
- >"But you're just a big old softy after all aren't you"
- >Satisfied, you pull away from her as she tries to pet you.
- >She smelled interesting, but not quite what you're looking for in a mate.
- >After a while she notices you haven't said a word and have been staring at her for quite sometime.
- >"Um I don't mean to be rude but...you...do understand what I'm saying don't you?"
- >A long awkward silence ensues, followed by a single solid nod, the only answer you give to her.
- >Completely cheering up as if her leg wasn't still wounded, she sighs in relief.
- >"Oh thank goodness! For a while I thought I was going crazy again."
- >Bopping her head jokingly, she giggles and sticks out her tongue shyly.
- >You don't offer any reply to her statement as she claps her hoofs together suddenly.
- >"Well...then how about this! We can come to my cottage, its not to far from here."
- >Ears perking up, you look at her with stern apprehension.
- >"You can meet all my other friends too, oh they'd be so exci-"
- >You cut her off before she continue, putting an open palm towards her face.
- >Shaking your head back and forth you reach down to grab the leftovers of your rabbit.
- >No matter what, you would never forget to take your meal with you.
- >Looking at the bloodied mess, you grimace in annoyance.
- >Who would have thought such a small morsel would end up being so much trouble.
- >As you turn around to head home you hear a squeak from behind you.
- >"w-Wait! M-m-my name's Fluttershy! What's yours?"
- >Not bothering to face her, with a throaty, earthly primal voice you groan.
- AnOoNnN...
- >And with a loud snort you proceed to head home.
