- He went and when he was at the top, he saw a great, round lodge. There was no door and there was no top to it. Near it was a large cedar tree and in the tree was a huge nest made of dried bones. In the nest was a huge egg. A voice in the lodge roared and said, "Who is this that dares to come near me?"
- "I am Okaga, the son of Tate, and I go with my brothers to make the directions," said Okaga.
- "Pass on, but do not pause on the mountain," roared the voice.
- "My brothers, come," called Okaga and he passed quickly over the mountain. The brothers came curiously and peeped at the top. Then they cautiously stepped on the top.
- "Who is this that dares to come near me?" roared the voice in the lodge.
- "We are Tate's sons and we go to the edge of the world to make the directions," said Yata.
- "Pass on, Tate's sons but do not pause on the mountain."
- They went and when they came by the tree, they stopped and stared at the nest and the egg. They stared at the lodge and a swallow came from it and said, "Sons of Tate, why do you pause on the mountain?"
- "When we saw the great round lodge, we were afraid of Ibom, the storm," said Yata.
- "That is the lodge of Wakinyan, the Winged One, and I am his messenger," said the swallow. "Pass on."
