- Shamanism: Shamanism is different (systematically) in the fact that you are essentially spending chunks of your raw mana to spend rather than a set amount for spell usage. While you can only work within your selected tree of magic, you are much more free to act within that tree.
- Shamans are pretty simple in the fact that magical spells cast require mana points to spend as opposed to having limited spell use. However, you may actually "overspend" or spend more mana than you're normally allowed. This not only overloads your body with excess magical power, but also exhausts you. Below will be a 'general' guide of the mana cost behind things.
- Minor/average manipulation: 10 (Throwing a fireball, enchanting your weapon with flame.)
- Larger manipulation: 20 (A large gust of wind, a spike of earth.)
- Big manipulation: 40 (A massive cone of fire.)
- Enormous: 80 (An enormous wall of your chosen element)
- Shamans usually rely on manipulating their surroundings as opposed to altering reality. As a result, the DM may tack on an additional cost of mana if you attempt to use your magic in a place that wouldn't make sense. Example; creating a long stream of water in the middle of a dry desert would tack an additional +10 to the mana cost for creating the water yourself.
- Reaching 0 in mana risks unconsciousness; a DC10 save must be made to retain your consciousness. Failure still leads to exhaustion until you regain your mana.
- You may still cast spells even at 0 mana. Doing so puts you in the negative. For every 10 negative mana you have, tack an additional +5 to the DC to resist unconsciousness.
- Going -40 potentially overloads your body with your elemental power, causing a major debuff; or, if left untreated, death. (This limit may be raised to the DM's discretion.) The save to resist this is DC15, and increases by +5 for every 10 negative mana above -40
- Much like how a sorcerer regains their spells, a Shaman regains his mana through meditation or certain consumables.
- Otherwise, 'spells' are mostly on-the-go, discussed with the DM as far as their cost. The larger the effect, the more mana points you expend.
