Human Rayman Ref Sheet Image Description

[Image Description: A Digital 2D reference sheet for my human Rayman design. He’s a young, fairly short white man with a somewhat muscular/chubby build. Rayman has wide brown eyes, a big rounded nose, thick brown eyebrows and short, but fluffy strawberry-blond hair with two large fronds for his fringe/bangs. He also has a rounded chin, high, somewhat angular cheekbones and subtle blond arm hair along with gentle blush/pigment in his cheeks, ears, elbows, lower neck and knuckles. He wears a purple short-sleeved hoodie with a red hood, a large white “0” on the front, a pouch pocket and white drawstrings with purple aglets and drawstring holes. Rayman also wears baggy blue jeans with distressed knees and yellow slip-on-shoes.

The reference sheet features various hand-written notes and drawings on a grey background. The title, “Human Rayman!”, is written on the top-left corner of the sheet with an open smile emoticon doodle next to it. Below and to the left of the sheet is a full-body drawing of human Rayman, surrounded by notes with arrows pointing to different aspects of his design. Rayman is posed at a three-quarter angle facing the left with a confidant stance. He has his left hand resting on his hip and right arm relaxed at his side. His baggy jeans cover much of his shoes. Rayman looks somewhat past the viewer with a determined smile. The notes surrounding him read the following:

- Eye and nose shape based on canon designs

- Hair has a gradient

- BROWN EYES! (sparkle doodles surround the note)

- Arm/leg hair optional (I don’t always draw it myself)(tongue sticking out of mouth emoticon drawn within the brackets)

- Baggy Jeans (Partly inspired by Rayman Raving Rabbids)

- Predominantly inspired by Giacomo Boni’s ‘Sparks of Hope’ Redesign.

In the centre of the sheet are two half-body drawings and three headshots of the character.

The two half-body drawings are copies of the full-body with the legs removed and Rayman wearing different tops. He wears a read sweater under his hoodie in one and a 3/4 sleeve raglan shirt in the other. The shirt features red sleeves and collar and a purple body. The notes accompanying the half-body drawings read:

- Wears a sweater underneath during colder weather/months

- Raglan Shirt

The three headshots feature two front-views and one profile facing the left of the character from the hood-up. The first front-view has Rayman’s eyes looking to his right. He conveys a somewhat nervous and awkward expression, his brows furrowed with one raised, and an open smile. His hair fronds both face his left (viewer’s right) while the second headshot features each frond faceing opposite directions. The arrow and note accompanying the first head-shot read:

- Fringe/bangs can favour left or right from front view

The second front-view and profile show Rayman with a content, closed smile looking forward.

On the right side of the sheet is Rayman’s colour palette/swatches, a cropped traditional headshot coloured with alcohol based markers and his shoe drawn at different angles.

The swatches/palette on the top-right of the sheet depict each colour as the same “0” that’s on Rayman’s hoodie. The accompanying note reads:

- Blush and jean distress applied with soft air brush tool (in Procreate), typically at a lower opacity

The cropped traditional headshot below shows a front-view of Rayman looking at the viewer, winking at them with furrowed brows, a smile and his tongue sticking out. His hair in this piece is rendered with more separation between the orange/red and blond. The note alongside it reads:

- When working in traditional mediums such as alcohol based markers, I colour his hair an orange/red and blond, inspired by his ‘Rayman 3’ design

The bottom-right of the sheet shows Rayman’s shoe drawn from the top, bottom, side and front. His shoes are slip-on sneakers. The vamp, bumper and friction are white while the outside quarter and tongue are yellow and the outside heel counter is red. By each side of the shoe’s tongue is an orange spiral. The notes read:

- Sneakers based on Rayman 3 design and VANS (off the wall!)
- Shoe design same on both sides

The signature, written in the bottom-left corner, reads “NB 2025”. End Description]
