  5. Objectives Essay
  6. Recently, I have started my first classes at Pasco Hernando Community College, English Composition 1 being the second in my day. Upon hearing I’d need to write a 300 word essay about my goals in the class, I immediately got to work brainstorming. First, I thought about actually performing well enough to pass the class, since I need this not only for good standing with my grades, but also for my Pell Grant. I then considered the knowledge of my skill set in English, I’m a very good reader, but I feel like I never learned how to fully use grammar and the use of things like semicolons (which I still don’t know what to do with). Finally, I remembered that I’d also like to excel, if I can, in my English skills, being that I’d like to, once I have a grasp, go above and beyond in the class and do model work, only time will tell if this will come to fruition, though. I’ve always been fairly good in my English classes, throughout middle and high school, and I’d like to see where this course takes me. My concerns for the class are low right now, but I’d like to become friendly with everyone in the class, and my teacher in order to have a better sense of comfort while doing my work and interacting with the other students. I’ve never had a strong point in public speaking, but maybe this class will turn that around and I’ll have the motivation to attempt it, should it be asked of me. I’d like to sharpen my skills with writing coherent sentences, structure in long essays, and the ability to have the patience for large essays which typically frazzle me to a point of hilarious stress. I look forward to the class, thank you for letting me speak my mind about my goals and concerns.
