At age four, he was brought with said family to live in the United Kingdom, where he discovered his magical capabilities via Professors Allegra and Sullivan from Hogwarts School. Moth harbours a complex relationship with magic, identity and self-worth. He has had an incredibly difficult time coming to terms with the fact of his magic, seeing it as some sort of divine joke sent to disrupt the tumultuous balance of his life. Since the delivery of his Hogwarts letter, Moth has lost the favour of his Muggle foster parents, who are scared of magic and what having a wizard in the house could mean.

Moth comes off as aggressive to strangers, often seen with a stormy look on his face, thunder gathering in the meeting of his brows, and harsh words falling from his lips. He does not trust adults in particular, and it is rare for him to meet someone whom he will warm to in the first instance of their acquaintance. This ire, if provoked, can lead to Moth burning bridges that have not even had a chance to form—it seems he is self-sabotaging, too concerned with the possibilty that another adult might let him down that he is content to not even give them a chance.

  202. When Moth's trust is earnt however, it is remarkably easy to lose, though that's not to say he is a fickle friend—quite the opposite really, as Moth values his friendships more than anything. He is undyingly loyal to those around him, wanting so desperately to be proven wrong in his steadfast belief that everyone will eventually let him down, even if he will not admit it to himself. Loyal, protective, brave and intelligent, Moth can make as good a friend as he can a formidable enemy.

  204. Many adults will tell you that the problem with Moth is that he doesn't apply himself—if only he tried, they'd lament, he could achieve great things. The truth is quite the opposite: Moth does try, incredibly hard in fact, and yet when it feels that his tireless efforts are gaining him nothing, he is prone to abandoning the endeavour altogether. Despite his natural intelligence and curiosity for the world around him, Moth's magical prowess is somewhat lacking, and he struggles to see past this point of insecurity, deciding instead to write off the entire idea of giving it his best attempt.

He often feels that he needs to feel out exactly where the jagged edges of patience lie, just so he knows where not to push—trouble being that he often pushes too far in his pursuit of the edge of love, and finds himself in hot water.
