To use Pidgin as your IRC client follow these steps (also make sure you have your irc key set in your profile):

1. Download and install Pidgin.

2. Download Plugin Pack here and install according to this.

3. After installing open your buddy list.

4. Tools-->Plugins
Check IRC Helper and IRC more are enabled

5. Accounts-->Manage Accounts

6. Click "Add", then on the Basic tab..
Protocol: IRC
Username: [Chosen Nickname]
Server: irc.passthepopcorn.me

7. Click the "Advanced" tab (this step is only necessary if you've registered with nickserv)
Check Disconnect Ghosts Box
Auth Name: NickServ
nickpassword: the password you registered with NickServ
Click "Add"

8. In the Buddy List click Buddies > Add Buddy
From the dropdown box, select [USERNAME]@irc.passthepopcorn.me (IRC)
In the Buddy's username, type: HAL
Click "Add"

9. In the Buddy List, right click on the newly created HAL, and select "Add Buddy Pounce"
Pounce When Buddy.. "Signs on"
Check "Send message"
In the text box, type:
enter #passthepopcorn [SITE USERNAME] [IRCKEY]
Check "Recurring"

10. From the Buddy List, click Accounts > Enable > [USERNAME]@irc.passthepopcorn.me (IRC)
