- [ Young. But I still remember it well ]
- [ "Stop," I heard. "Have you not done enough damage already, prince?" ]
- _____________________________________________
- "What will you do about your crime?"
- "You mean the flowers? Picking flowers isn't a crime!"
- "Since-- Since these are my grounds you are a tresspasser!"
- "It makes you the criminal!"
- "Maybe. Or maybe you're a mass murderer."
- "Am I?"
- "Sort of."
- "I just thought they looked pretty. I wanted to keep them."
- "I didn't mean to hurt anyone."
- "Well, they're dead now. The dead can't feel anymore pain."
- _____________________________________________
- "Don't feel bad."
- "You can still pick them. Just be nice."
- "Nice? There's a mean and a nice way to flower picking?"
- "Yes."
- "No."
- "But it would make me feel better if you apologized."
- "To them."
- _____________________________________________
- "Oh. Well... I'm sorry."
- [ She began to regrow the flowers I had picked. ]
- [ The ones in the basket wilted and grew in the ground once more ]
- "Are you a Princess? Or maybe a wizard?"
- "I am neither."
- [ I used to think she too was a flower. ]
- _____________________________________________
- [ Now I'm not so sure. ]
- "Do you live here?"
- "No."
- "Do you want to live here?"
- "I have a home."
- "Where?"
- "Not here."

- [ In another instant I was being covered in petals, her four hands moving quickly, pulling the
- petals apart and showering me. ]
- "I thought you said it was a crime?"
- "They are very forgiving"
- "I think you're a liar. You're not going to try and devour me are you?"
- "This isn't a trick, right?"
- "That would be a waste of time."
- _____________________________________________
- [ Before I had a chance to even get angry, she had a hand over my mouth, hushing me ]
- "See. You're angry. I began to destroy these flowers and you became frustrated."
- "Maybe out of my own hypocracy, maybe otherwise."
- "I don't understand."
- "Just be careful who you hurt. If someone were to hurt your people, you would feel bad. Blame
- and guilt would fall upon your shoulders."
- "Did Peppermint Maid send you?"
- "No."
- _____________________________________________
- [ I think I was mostly fascinated by her existance ]
- ( she places a flower in his hair )
- "You're not a Princess."
- "No."
- "That's a shame. I'm Prince Gumball, by the way. "
- "That's nice."

- "You're /supposed/ to give me a name in return."
- "I'd rather not."
- [ Her hands, all of them, grabbed me for a moment and I felt scared, then small. Smaller than
- my age portrayed. ]
- [ A kiss to my forehead and she vanished, leaving a small lesson heavy in my hands for me to
- carry for the rest of my life. ]
- I was never given a name, a species, nothing but my basket refilled with flowers. I'm fairly
- certain it was at the very least a crush. I so think about her nearly every day.
- My gardens being mainly in memory of her and I would be lying if I said that in hopes of her
- return, I pick flower after flower without thanking a single one.
- My curiosity was peaked that day, for I had never felt so underwhelmed or overwhelmed. So
- insanely infinite and miniscule and aware of how little I knew this world contained and what
- the world did not contain. In my free time I like to imagine what sort of realm she is from,
- if she is even real, and what her domain resembles. Maybe she lived in one of the flowers I
- picked? Maybe I destroyed her home and she is left wandering, wandering, wandering Ooh until a
- new flower opens up and returns her home.
