Method #1: the best and easiest of the two - use Streamlink GUI + Chatterino, drop the twitch website itself for watching stuff

- Download Streamlink GUI here: https://streamlink.github.io/streamlink-twitch-gui/

- Download Chatterino here: https://chatterino.com/

- Log in to them with your twitch account, you will be prompted to authorize this via your browser.

- In Streamlink GUI, click on the tab to the left that says "Streams" under Followed. This will list all of your followed streams that are live right now. Once here, move your mouse to the top right of the screen where there is a button labelled "..." . Hover your mouse over it. This will reveal two buttons. Click the one with the Home icon. Now anytime you open Streamlink GUI, it will default to this page of your follows.

- Still in Streamlinks GUI, go to the top right of the screen and click the Gear icon for Settings. We want to change two things here: disable ads and enable chatterino. Go to the Streaming tab, scroll down to where it says Advertisements, check the box "Skip advertisements embedded into streams." Now go to the Chat tab, and for the chat application select Custom application (or Chatterino if you see it there). Navigate to the folder where you installed Chatterino, Once both these are done, click Apply at the bottom of the screen to save changes. Feel free to customize anything else you like in the settings, it's very flexible. For example, I'd recommend Dark mode to not blind your eyes with the white background. For your Player tab, I recommend mpv, but VLC (the default) will do fine as well.
