53. As a group of Reploid terrorists threaten to crash a space station into the earth, Maverick Hunters X and Zero are in a race to build a weapon capable of neutralizing the terrorist threat. However, more lies beneath the surface of this plot as a new form of the Maverick Virus surfaces. But what ties does this virus have to Zero, and will the two Hunters be able to prevent the catastrophe?
 54. For quite a while, I thought "Mega Man X4" was the best in the "Mega Man X" series, but I was blown away with "Mega Man X5" which I think is the BEST of the "Mega Man X" games.

First off, the story is better than the previous game, and the soundtrack is really good too. There's also really cool new armors, and a different power-up system as well. As in X3 and X4, you can play as either X or Zero, so that hasn't changed there, but there's a couple new characters introduced to the series in this installment. Overall, this game is the best of the "X" series.
 55. Spoilers ahead.

Mega Man X5 begins where X4 leaves off, and some new characters are introduced. X5 is a great addition to the X series, especially with the huge failure of X4. We now see the relationship between X and Zero so much more clearly.

The great thing about X5 is its continuity from previous X games. X starts out with the armor he had in X4, unless you begin the game as Zero. Then X's armor gets damaged, but at least it explains why he lost it.

The bad thing about X5 is also its continuity. Sigma is back, but at least they know he's still alive. But come on... how many times will this guy die? He died twice in the first game, twice in the second, three times in the third, and twice in the fourth. Now, in X5, you kill him twice again. That's eleven times total, and as of now I haven't even seen X6 yet.

Same thing goes for Zero. Zero died in the first one, and he dies again in this one. Hopefully this time he actually died for sure. At least on Star Trek, when Spock died, it was only once.

I think Capcom is running out of ideas. It's always Sigma, always the same kind of enemies. But that's not so bad. At least the plot is rather intriguing, unlike X4's.

It's really great that you can play as either X or Zero on this game. Now the whole plot includes both Maverick Hunters, rather than just one, like on X4.

Another thing about the continuity... a lot of the enemies are from the first game, and some of the music is as well, which is really cool. Also, Squid Adler mentions something about Octopardo, who is really Launch Octopus.

X5 really adds on to the Mega Man X series. It patches up the holes X4 made and adds a newer kind of gameplay for the series. However, I wonder how much longer this series can last before it starts repeating itself more than it already is.
