  1. MODPACK TIPS
  2.
  3. The pack is geared towards FWG (Fun World Generation) Worldgen, with the Sky Dimension preset. The questbook tries to explain everything in the pack as clearly as it can without getting too detailed, and redirects you to better sources when possible. On that note, check out https://ftb.gamepedia.com/Getting_Started_(GregTech_6) for a general GT6 guide.
  4.
  5. The pack has an invasion system enabled: you will get a grace period of 4 weeks. After that, once a week you will be invaded by waves of mobs. Zombies can break blocks and dig through your defenses, later on you'll get the entirety of https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/apocalypse-mod's mobs targeting your base The best way to deal with it and mobs in general in the earlygame is to make a base above the void and keep it lit so you don't have to fortify too much, but later on you'll find that mobs can fly up to your base no problem.
  6.
  7. The quests in the pack are aimed towards helping you out with GT6 even if you never played with it and the steam age especially helps you out in the earlygame with some useful extra resources related to the quest. Those handouts dry up completely by the time you reach LV.
  8.
  9. There's a backport of Nutrition in the pack, you get perks for eating different food groups, with small maluses for severe malnutrition (which won't happen unless you really try for it). The holy grail of foods is the biscuit of totality, which can be auto-crafted with some steps later in the game and gives large amounts of nutrition for each food group when eaten.
  10. It's a good idea to also over-eat with gluttony if you have surplus food, just to get those useful status effects, with an extra bonus for keeping all nutrients over 70. Just remember that GT6 food does not count, but unlike regular food, is incredibly filling (GT6 food is also essential to craft the biscuit later on, among other things).
  11.
  12. The pack also has SoL: Carrot edition backported. That's right, no diminishing returns frickery from eating the same kind of food, but extra good boy hearts for eating all of GT6's food items! With all its 400+ food items in the pack it can net you up to 20 hearts without any drawbacks. Spice of life as it should have been.
  13.
  14. Use your glider extensively. It lets you run away from mobs more efficiently than anything.
  15.
  16. The pack has a backport of Serene Seasons and you start your game in spring: so you can't grow wheat until the summer, (day 90) but you can cut grass with a GT sword and feed it to cows, pigs and sheep. Zombies drop carrots and potatoes, which you can safely plant. Keep an eye on techguns' farmer zombies, they drop useful crops.
  17.
  18. It's somewhat safe to swoop over one of the many FWG dungeons under the island with your glider, spam torches and ore-excavate the dungeons' metal bars. You can smelt those in a crucible later for free iron. Still, be careful and fast.
  19. Unless you're using specific skeleton-zombie spawner farm, keep in mind that creepers can shoulder-surf certain mobs (Blazes, Endermen, Spiders), so don't try to make a mob farm out of anything that's not particularly blast-resistant. I suggest heat glass. FWG Dungeons make pretty decent earlygame farms.
  20.
  21. When you get in the nether, also look for magma blocks. You use them with obsidian to make heat glass, which which is blast-proof and damaging to non-fire monsters, letting you farm nearly every mob. Also, if you find a warped forest biome, kill some endermen for their pearls and pigmen for their gold, so you can make a golden lasso to move mobs around from the islands to your base.
  22.
  23. You can milk ara ara spiders and l0libirbs from tameable arachne with an iron bucket to get monstergirl milk. They also teleport to you, they fight against mobs and regen pretty easily, helping you defend your base. The milking only comes later on, since you'll be stuck with wooden buckets until you get fairly deep into botania.
  24.
  25. Once you reach the nether, have a supply of food and have started out with the steam age, you've got all the foundations of your journey set.
  26.
  27. Have fun!

  31. CUSTOM RESOURCE PACKS: An analysis.
  32.
  33. The pack comes with a bunch of personal resource packs. Rather than just stuffing them in your throat, I thought it'd be better to explain what they are and what they do, so you can choose at your leisure.
  34.
  35. >Must have tier
  36. ++Zederrian Unities (Unity+ + mod-specific resourcepack, heavily edited to make GT6 look more presentable with the help of zederrian technologies and some personal edits. Highly recommended.)
  37. ++UBC TFC (Unfricks UBC's gross x32 stones by replacing them with specific TFC equivalents, along with some other for the missing stones. The world already spawns UBC stones to begin with, so it's likewise highly recommended.)
  38. ++Above the clouds (The best possible skybox for sky worlds. If you're playing with Fun World Generation, especially sky islands, It can't be topped. Highly recommended.)
  39. ++Greenhouse Glasses (unfricks and replaces serene season's greenhouse glass. The 1.7 version of the mod had a bug that was never fixed, Highly recommended.)
  40. ++PR luminance (Pixel reality luminance, a neat little resource pack that applied a shader-like effect without any of the performance impacts. Highly recommended.)
  41. ++HEE music (Hardcore ender expansion, additional music. Basically only external because it can't be bundled with the mod itself, there's no sense playing without it.)
  42.
  43. >Good tier
  44. +Rainbow Rocks (Replaces some of GT6's uglier stone blocks. Recommended.)
  45. +No more mumbles (Make villagers finally shut up.)
  46. +Clear glass (self explanatory, glass connects more nicely.)
  47. +Rhapsodia (A MAtmos resourcepack).
  48.
  49. >Ok Tier
  50. Sonomagy (reworked, more hi-fidelity TC4 sounds. Pretty good, but not necessary.)
  51. Botania texture backport (from KC's git, just like it says on the tin)
  52. Krypttexttweaks (from KC's git, just a couple edits to forbidden magic)
  53.
  54. >Opinions Tier
  55. +-EnchantshineBgone (from KC's git, removes the shine from enchanted items.)
  56. +-Cute mob sounds (To be used with cute mob models. The original was a mess, so I gutted and edited this version heavily. I highly recommend it if you're using cute mob models, because having a cute spider l0li sharting out spider sounds is kinda silly.)
  57. +-Creative music (A personal addition. Adds creative music to the usual bucket of songs that can be played in survival.)
  58. +-Thauminfusion (Makes the infusion altar look more eldritch.)
