  1. Gauging the success of projects and learning from failed projects can bring a great effect on small businesses. Organizations that employ successful project management create confidence in their employees and end users as well. It is always vital to make the evaluation complete and honest especially when evaluating a project.
  2. You should contact many stakeholders such as employees, management and end users; to access the quality of each project, and discuss the results with the project manager. You can access the quality of projects in any form that suits your business. Options such as online surveys, email surveys, round-table discussions and one-on-one phone calls are excellent ways to access the quality of a project.
  3. The following steps are result-oriented in measuring project success rate:
  4. Step 1: Evaluate Stakeholder Satisfaction
  5. A simple question to the stakeholders will help you to determine whether the project was properly executed. Simple question such as: Were you satisfied with the result? If all the parties are not satisfied, then it is a sign of poor Project Implementation.
  6. In order to know the right changes that might be made to future projects, ask all parties involved what could have been improved to make the project successful, and make changes as required to future projects.
  7. Step 2: Ascertain Whether Business Objectives Were Met
  8. In this regard, the end users of the project are in better position to know whether the project meet their needs. The end user can be anyone who is making use of the results of the project such as a customer.
  9. For small businesses, the end users are often the same people who worked on the project. For future projects, ensure that business objectives are understood at the outset and that the project is given sufficient resources.
  10. Step 3: Access End-User Adoption
  11. Accessing the end-user adoption entails asking end users of the project whether they are using the results of the project as expected. If the answer is negative, ask what changes are needed to make the results useful. Determine the rate at which they are using the results.
  12. If the project is successful, you will find high-end user adoption and regular usage. If end-user adoption is low, consider including end users in the official documentation stage of your next project to ensure the outcome is something they will find useful.
  13. Step 4: Examine The Final Delivery Of The Project
  14. Some projects have excellent results but create unnecessary bottlenecks. It is therefore ideal to ask all parties involved in the project if the delivery of the project is good. Was the Project Implementation process easy and quick, or did the outcome of the project leave them confused? Were the results well defined and described, or did they have to follow up with added questions?
  15. Step 5: Evaluate The Project Governance Policy
  16. See if the project met governance requirements. At the beginning of any project, most projects elect a review committee to review the results of the project. In smaller businesses, the reviewer is often an individual. From the project advisory committee you will know whether the project was adequately reviewed throughout the process and whether the project manager check in with advisors regularly.
  17. Step 6: Check For Benefits For Stakeholders
  18. The project so executed should provide the required benefits to its stakeholders. So, ask the stakeholders and end users as well, if the project has translated into benefits for the business and its employees. Are the benefits commensurate with quality or a small improvement? What other benefits would you like to see from future projects?
  19. At least, successful projects create obvious benefits. If the project did not meet the benefits, it doesn't always mean that the project was poorly executed. If the objectives of the project were realized but benefits were not met, carefully examine the objectives of your next project to ensure they will bring about tangible results.
  20. While considering these steps, there is also concept that succinctly describes how to gauge success in project implementation faster than you think. The concept of Socialize for Equity will do that for you!
