- [21:38] Reapehify: Giving CAP meta its own separate room so there's CAP meta as it is now, and a new room CAP project that's more like the IRC.
- [21:38] Reapehify: And promoting CAP more in whatever online news outlet Smogon/PS currently affiliates with.
- [21:40] Reapehify: y/n?
- [21:41] +Stratos: again, ambivalent
- [21:41] +Stratos: i don't think that promoting cap will do much good
- [21:41] +Stratos: it's not that people don't know about it, it's that it has a (fairly well deserved) shitty reputation
- [21:42] Reapehify: Well, I can't deny its reputation.
- [21:42] Reapehify: But I personally feel that it being Smogon only currently, it's inaccessible to many who don't want to go to Smogon.
- [21:42] +Stratos: well
- [21:42] +Stratos: yeah
- [21:42] +Stratos: duh
- [21:42] +Stratos: thats kind of
- [21:42] +Stratos: obvious
- [21:43] +Stratos: CAP is a smogon project
- [21:43] +Stratos: if youre not a smogon user you dont participate in cap
- [21:43] Reapehify: Sure, I understand that.
- [21:43] Reapehify: But don't you think it'd be more welcoming if there was a room on Showdown that was dedicated to it?
- [21:44] +Stratos: there is
- [21:44] +Stratos: if u mean the meta
- [21:44] Reapehify: Currently there's a room labeled CAP Project, but it's not really about the CAP Project. It's a chatty Showdown room that involves general CAp things.
- [21:44] Reapehify: No, I mean the project.
- [21:44] +Stratos: all rooms are like that
- [21:44] +Stratos: the irc is like that too
- [21:44] +Stratos: thats just the nature of chatrooms
- [21:44] Reapehify: The kind of discussions Doug brings to the CAP room are unwanted.
- [21:45] Reapehify: By quite a lot of the regular users there.
- [21:45] +Stratos: like what
- [21:45] Reapehify: Like complicated and serious CAP issues.
- [21:45] Reapehify: Anything relating to the PRC.
- [21:46] +Stratos: if you dont want to talk about serious CAP issues in the CAP room then just tab away and look back when its done
- [21:46] Reapehify: Some people just find it too tenuous and I've been asked by multiple people to stop talking about it, whenever Doug isn't around. Now he's obviously not going to be shushed.
- [21:46] Reapehify: Telling regular users who were in the room long before Doug decided to be a regular and bring IRC veterans with him by association isn't really a solution.
- [21:47] +Stratos: >being mad that the cap room is used to discuss cap
- [21:47] +Stratos: what a world
- [21:47] Reapehify: The CAP room is about the CAP meta.
- [21:47] +Stratos: then why is it named
- [21:47] +Stratos: CAP project
- [21:47] Reapehify: As you so diligently pointed out earlier.
- [21:47] +Stratos: no i didnt
- [21:48] Reapehify: That's a funny question. You should ask Doug. It's poorly named.
- [21:48] +Stratos: oh
- [21:48] +Stratos: i didnt finish that thought
- [21:48] +Stratos: "if you mean the meta, i couldnt give a fuck if it has a room or not, because i dont care about the meta"
- [21:48] Reapehify: The CAP meta and CAP project are separated, but the room on Showdown is positively about the meta.
- [21:48] Reapehify: Whether you give a fuck or not.
- [21:49] +Stratos: the CAP project room is undergoing the same thing the doubles room underwent a couple years ago
- [21:49] Reapehify: Which is?
- [21:49] +Stratos: where the seasoned users on IRC transition over to it and take the reins and tell the retards to stop bein retards
- [21:49] Reapehify: Lol.
- [21:49] +Stratos: it was never supposed to be about the cap meta more than the cap project
- [21:49] Reapehify: > tell the retards to stop being retarded and kill the community culture
- [21:50] +Stratos: of course the people who like cap are the ones likely to playt he cap meta so it's natural for it to be a frequent topic of discussion in the room
- [21:50] +Stratos: but make no mistake, it's called CAP project for a reason
- [21:51] Reapehify: Yes, because there is supposedly no such thing as a CAP meta.
- [21:51] Reapehify: Times have changed.
- [21:51] Reapehify: This is no different than the Ubers room becoming a fully fledged meta as opposed to a dumping grounds.
- [21:51] +Stratos: huh?? what??
- [21:52] Reapehify: Ubers is a metagame now.
- [21:52] Reapehify: It wasn't always.
- [21:52] Reapehify: You know that.
- [21:52] +Stratos: i absolutely fail to see the comparison between smogon tiering policy and showdown room culture policy
- [21:53] Reapehify: It's simple. They're both about a room which constituted using pokemon that weren't a part of any metagame, and becoming sophisticated enough that they eventually did.
- [21:54] +Stratos: OK but people have been playing Ubers since gen iii, it's had a massive playerbase for years and was a PS room since the start and not an offshoot of another room
- [21:54] Reapehify: Sure.
- [21:55] Reapehify: But it was still a dumping ground for pokemon who couldn't fit into the mainstage of OU without being considered broken.
- [21:55] +Stratos: ur literally confusing a tier with a showdown room
- [21:55] +Stratos: im astounded
- [21:55] Reapehify: :l
- [21:55] +Stratos: look if u want a new room for the cap meta ok
- [21:55] Reapehify: Forget the new room.
- [21:56] Reapehify: I don't understand how you literally can't see the comparison of two rooms whose sole intention is the dumping ground of pokemon being turned into a metagame.
- [21:56] Reapehify: It doesn't matter if it started in gen 3 or gen 6. The similarities are there.
