- Let us take a quick look back at how this whole chain of events started. A look into a day that shall forever be remembered as a life changing experience for all parties involved. The first date. Since you met her you committed every moment you could find with her to learning more about her, trying your hardest to get close to her. Months upon months as small greetings and shy glances turned into awkward conversations, sweaty palms, and a racing heart. You learned quite a bit about her during this period, her likes, and dislikes. You found out she lived close to you. You learned her birthday. Each detail about your crush etched into your memory in the greatest of detail, the beginnings of a beautiful tapestry of love. Your clumsy efforts finally paid off earlier today when you so courageously, and astonishingly, even to yourself, blurted out, "Would you like to go out with me this Saturday?" which much to your surprise, she not only agreed to but seemed absolutely overjoyed at the suggestion. You spent the rest of the day walking on air, hardly able to sleep that night. Of course, like all good things, you quickly came to a horrible realization. You had made no plans, had never been on a date before, and had absolutely no idea what to do. You had fallen from heaven in a way that would have made even Icarus himself applaud your ability. Luckily for you, your own poor planning had worked in your favor, as a less impulsive person would have waited until Friday to save himself the awkwardness of possibly meeting her the next day if she said no. You still had two days left to plan what would prove to be a life changing day. Luckily for you, you had friends willing to help you in your time of need. Your plan, if it can so be called, was simple. You would meet her in town, within close walking distance from both of your homes. At which point, you would proceed to take her on a short stroll around town, perhaps buying her something nice on your way to your destination: a café. A lovely little place where you could sit, rest, and hopefully make small talk over lunch. Your nerves steady and confidence at an all time high, you thanked your friends and returned home to sleep, preparing for the day to come. The morning of your date is hectic. You find yourself rushing about preparing yourself. Your hair, your clothing, everything must be perfect before you leave. As you reach for the door, you receive texts from your friends wishing you luck on your date. You quickly respond and make your way to your meeting place. You arrive 30 minutes early, realizing only as the nervousness begins to set in that making yourself wait that long along with your thoughts may have not been the best idea. You begin to sweat, and shake as your thoughts race. "What if she doesn't show up? What if all this is just a big joke to her? What if I got my hopes up for nothing?" Your nervousness continues to build as time draws near, just five minutes left until the time she was supposed to meet you. "You're awfully early," you hear an all too familiar voice behind you. You turn around quickly, if only to make sure you weren't hearing things, and there she stood looking absolutely radiant. Her hair, make-up, clothing, everything is perfect. You stood there awestruck, attempting to comprehend what you saw. "What is a Goddess like her doing talking to me?" Your thoughts still jumbled, she does a little turn and says, "Does it look good on me? I wasn't too sure." Jarred back to reality you reply, "Y-you look stunning. I didn't know what to say when I saw you." A slight blush covers her cheeks, "Thank you. Shall we go?" she asks, wrapping her arm around yours. The moment she grabs your arm, you feel as though your heart is going to burst out of your chest. Joy doesn't even begin to describe the ecstasy you found yourself in, it was as though for one split second you were the only two people in the universe. "Y-yeah, let's take a walk around town," you reply, with a stutter, certainly not your most confident response. "You don't have to be so tense, just relax and enjoy yourself," she remarks, with a smile. "Sorry, I'm just not used to this sort of thing. This is actually my first date," you answer. "It's alright. Let's just enjoy our time together. Hey, let's go look at that shop!" she announces. You find yourself suddenly starting to feel a lot more comfortable as you watch her investigate the shop bouncing gleefully through the aisles. You begin to smile, and talk normally as the two of you spend your morning together in town, making your way to your destination. That feelings of walking on air washes over you once again as the two of you joke about the people and things you see. You feel more open as you speak to her, and as you do she opens up to you. As you near your destination, you find yourself wishing this stroll would never end. You look at her blushing face and smile. "Let's stop in here to rest and grab lunch," you say, pointing towards the café. "That sounds great. These shoes really hurt your feet after a while," she replies, looking down towards her feet. "I didn't even think about that, and we walked around so much. Sorry about that," you remorsefully respond. "Don't be, I had a great time. Let's head inside," she reassures. The two of you make your way inside, find a table, and order your food. You make small talk while waiting for your food. You notice the café is very crowded for lunch time, not too surprising for a Saturday. Your conversation continues on as your food comes to the table, the two of you sharing stories and laughs. As your meal draws to a close, you begin to realize the conversation has lulled. Your nervous thoughts from earlier return to you, "What do I do? I don't know what to say." You begin to notice noises in the background. The sounds of people talking, silverware against plates, and eating. One sound specifically stands out to you: the song playing over the speakers. Lost to you before this moment amongst all the other noises, they are playing your favorite love song. "Did I wonder into some cliché romance story? Perhaps an omen? Divine intervention? Divine comedy perpetrated by some malevolent evil?" you think as you listen to the song. A few more seconds pass with you lost in though until, spurred on by some unknown force, you begin to sing along with the song in that crowded café. You can't stop, no matter what you do your body won't listen, people have started staring at you. The most embarrassing moment you've been through in a while on your first date of all times, "How fitting," crosses your mind as you continue to make a fool of yourself publicly. Then, much to your shock, from across the table another voice joins in your choir of shame. You look over and see a big radiant smile beaming across the face of your date as she sings along with you. The crowd in the café laughs and cheers the two of you on. The song comes to an end and you're met with applause from an obviously entertained crowd of onlookers. Having long since finished eating, you quickly pay and leave the café. "What exactly possessed you to start singing?" she asks. "I honestly have no idea. That was so embarrassing," you reply, obviously blushing from ear to ear. She stops you, grabbing your hand, "I thought it was hilarious. I had a lot of fun today." You are taken aback by what you've heard, your face only grows more red with her declaration and her hand in yours. "S-so would it be okay to do something like this with you again?" you ask, in probably the least confident tone of the day. Looking down bashfully she responds simply with, "I'd love to." You walk her home, still very confused about the events of the day. As you reach her door, she brings herself close to you and kisses you on the cheek. "Thank you for the wonderful day. I'll see you Monday, I hope," she says with a wink and quickly makes her way inside her home. Awestruck, you reach your hand to your face and press your fingers against the spot her lips had just touched. The rest of the day, including how you got home, is lost forever in the blurred memory of a love-struck fool.
