► BACKGROUND ― saehyun was born into a middle-class family in seoul. her father was a businessman, which meant he had to relocate for his job sometimes. the longest he had to relocate for was for about four to five years, and that was when the family had moved along with him to america. they lived in california for the time being but an unfortunate event had happened within the duration. the family had been affected by some disagreement between her father’s boss and a partner in the states. this put the family in a dangerous position as bad people were involved. they’ve recieved threats and were cornerned plenty of times. her father had to find a way to keep his innocent family safe, deciding to contavt the cia. the cia offered a protection program but her father deckined and proposed a different offer– his proposal involved training for their family to keep themselves safe. the cia had to think about it, but after looking into the situation. there was no easy way out, they figured it was an okay deal, since her father absolutely refused the protection program. it was this or nothing. the family underwent orientations and basic training such as how to handle intruders, self-defense, and the like. their parents took up more of the technical work as they took up more of the field work. soon, they were provided more advanced orientations and the just two siblings were to take the training, instead of the whole family. as this went on, her father did his best to get out of the situation, even wanting to quit his job. but because his boss was afraid of what kind of bigger trouble may be caused by her father’s departure from the company, the boss offered bigger money– way bigger money. since the family had been undergoing the special program for a while, they decided to just continue with it, and take the offer. when they moved back to korea, the two siblings continue to take up training, working for the company their father works for as security but also as– well, spies. they did this as their parents continue on with their jobs normally, as they went to school. a fight between her and her brother led to their separation, her leaving home and living by herself.
