By now, all of us know Ingvar Kamprad as the founder of IKEA, however, how much do you actually know about his personal life? Well, he was born on March 30, 1926, in Pjätteryd, Sweden; into a family of farmers. Their farm was called the Elmtayrd and it was located near a small village in the province of Småland, called Agunnaryd.
Even as a young farm boy, Ingvar Kamprad had a keen interest in the business. He showed that by making all kinds of different plans on how to profit. For example, when he was still in elementary school, Ingvar Kamprad found a store where they sell a bulk of matches for a lower price. He then bought those matches, and sold them for a lower price than the usual, while still keeping the profit as the matches were more expensive than the original price he paid for.
From simple matches, he expanded by selling fish around the block, seeds, Xmas decorations, and later pencils and pens. After turning 17, Ingvar Kamprad got a cash reward from his father because he was able to finish his studies. In 1943, Ingvar Kamprad decided to form IKEA together with his uncle, who later helped him by providing random things that we can now purchase at IKEA. The name itself is actually made from his initials, the first letter of his farm and the nearby village.
Since everyone already knows IKEA, and most of us are familiar with the founder, you should know that he is one very wealthy man. Ingvar Kamprad is a billionaire who knows how to spend his money in a smart way. While most of the celebrities and wealthy politicians today tend to go all out and spend their riches in different places by taking long expensive vacations and buying things that they do not really need, Ingvar Kamprad is different.
He lives in a small house, where he eats his own cooked food or the food from his store and he shops at a local market. He likes to do everything himself, without spending loads of money on different unnecessary things. In addition, Ingvar Kamprad was also seen browsing for clothes in a 2nd hand store. He even stated that he prefers to wear the 2nd hand clothes over the labeled ones, since they are cheaper and of the same quality.
Who would have thought that the founder of IKEA, the billionaire Ingvar Kamprad would be so humble? You’d be forgiven if you judged him before reading the whole article, since everyone would as the rich celebrities did not set out a great example for themselves. However, Ingvar Kamprad is the complete opposite as he enjoys spending his time sharing the little things in life with other people. In addition, Ingvar Kamprad is allegedly thinking of giving more than half of his riches to the charity, while the rest will go to his children.
