  1. Day 10: Downtown Jazz
  2. The force dragging me away from the dolphins stopped me in the middle of a dark void. This has happened so many times before that at this point I stopped being fazed by being in a gloomy place.
  3.
  4. However, this time, the darkness was destroyed by a giant pair of circular yellow lights, accompanied by the sound of a car horn.
  5. I was in the middle of a road?!
  6.
  7. I instinctively managed to jump over the car about to hit me, the driver yelling something incomprehensible to me as he passed by. I just assumed it was some sort of expletive and I moved over to the sidewalk to prevent further incidents.
  8.
  9. I'm fairly familiar with big cities like this, so I wasn't too uncomfortable or out of place. I minded my own business, looking at nobody and talking to nobody.
  10. However, as I walked further down the road, two things stuck out to me: the unusually high amount of buildings that looked condemned or broken, as well as streaks of orange light that zipped down the streets. They were brief and intermittent, seemingly with no pattern, but I tried to pay it little mind and continued along my way.
  11. The rows of abandoned buildings were seemingly infinite, until I saw one building in pristine condition, sticking out from the rest of the infrastructure like a sore thumb. As I got closer, I knew exactly what it was.
  12.
  13. The building was a jazz club. There wasn't a sign saying so, but there's no mistaking the music playing within it. I stood at its entrance, or lack thereof; there wasn't a door to get in or out. I scratched my head, but as soon as I heard the sounds of a piano, I looked around as the integrity of the dilapidated buildings quickly came back, restoring them back to perfect quality.
  14.
  15. As the piano continued its staccato melody, the streaks of orange-yellow light flew around even more, and the lights in the restored buildings flashed along with the notes being played. What was this piano doing? Were there people in these buildings? Does anyone else see this?
  16.
  17. The building housing the piano's noise soon started glowing an even brighter blue. The piano started to play more complicated rhythms, and was also now being accompanied by a drum set. As the music swelled in intensity, I felt my feet lifting off the ground, giving me new-found energy that I didn't expect to have.
  18.
  19. As the drums reached their full intensity, I flew upwards and forwards, proceeding down the street. I saw the bustling busyness of the city, people commuting to and from work, and the occasional tourist taking in the sights as well. As I looked back at the jazz club that I was once standing at, I could see a fairly sizable crowd gathering around, enjoying the music as much as I was. I heard the crash of a cymbal before the blue light of the jazz club exploded and spread out across the entire street, illuminating everything and everyone within the city.
  20.
  21. I stopped myself to just take the sights, sounds, and anything that affected the rest of my senses in; the cars stopped before the building, the crowd growing larger, the cheering and the jeering of members in said crowd, the continued playing of the piano-drum duo, and countless other things...
  22.
  23. To see all the people in this hubbub over a jazz club really spoke a lot about music being the universal language of humanity. Like music or hate it, people will gather around it.
  24.
  25. The drummer began to play faster and faster, hitting everything on his drum set, before I heard yet another boom and was sent away from the urban chaos.
