- Say you went full blast pyscho penis mode and cracked your computer screen. Well if you have a VGA cable and a monitor, your computer is fine. Well not the screen but these commands will switch to your secondary screen, and you will be able to use it as it was just fine. It's actually very basic, run these commands.
- run xrandr - to find out what monitor you will be switching to.
- Should see this:
- Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3520 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
- eDP-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 381mm x 214mm

- or if you want to switch monitor to laptop screen run this
