"What...wrong?"

"Nothing Gia, I'm fine." I insist. I know he knows I'm lying. He draws closer to me, and I cock my head away from him. "Go away, Gia." My tone comes off more hostile than I intend, and he takes a step back.

"...Sorry..." He sighs and begins to leave the room.

I sigh and turn my face towards him, showing off the damage from the bottle. "Hold up, big guy." His eyes widen and his fangs flare outward as he assesses the damage. He moves towards me at a hasty pace, cupping my entire head in his hands and picking me up with his other set of arms as he reaches me.

"What...happened?"

"Just some drunk asshole, really." I wipe my nose in my sleeve, careful not to damage it even more than it already had been. I try my best to turn my head away from him, but his grip is firm on my cheeks. "I'm okay, Gia." I settle my hand on top of his.

"What did...he do?" His tongue flicks along my face gently and he timidly rubs his forehead against mine. "Let me...help..." He rubs a finger along my face and gently wipes at my bruises. "Do you...need...doctor?"

"I'll be okay, big guy." I kiss his forehead, and he purrs softly. "They were just drunk..." I clear my throat and wipe at my eyes. "Pushed me down, threw a bottle at me, roughed me up a bit, I ran home."

"Is that...all?" He runs a finger through my bangs and gives me a knowing look.

"They, uh..." I cleared my throat. "Called me a freak. Said you and your kind were disgusting." I explained to him.

 Living in a small town had its perks and its disadvantages. College was cheap, so were apartments, and everything was in reach. But at the same time, everyone in town knew you dated a person that was thrice your size, could break you in two with a single arm, had four arms, and had a tongue that could lift you into the air as he ate you.

"You know...I love...you..." Gia licked at my face softly. "So...much..."

"I love you too, big guy. But I'm just..." I know exactly what I mean to say, but I know it's going to come out awkward. "I'm worried this town isn't good for us, y'know?"

"You need...to finish...school..." He rasps out, sitting down and cradling me in his arms. "That's...what's important..."

"What's important is us being safe, Gia." I run my hand along his cheek.

"You need...to relax..." He insists, pressing his head into my palm. "Would you like...to sleep?"

I chuckle. "God, I wish. I'm too wound-up to sleep."

"Would you like to...wind down, then?" He gives me a sly grin.

"With you?" I rub his chin. "Gladly."
