- || 1]Tasks. Mundane, boring and uninteresting ones. But they paid and were considered a job. Tai took a moment to stare down at the list in his hand, and read the names on the top. Two fellow genin whose names he didn't recognize. He shrugged once, read over the tasks a few more times until he was satisfied that he'd memorized them, then folded the piece of paper up nicely and shoved it back into his pocked. He leaned back against the tree they'd been told to meet. A few minutes later, the three were on their way to their first assignment.
- 2]Their first task was the elimination of weeds and incading plants from the village flowerbeds. They made their way to the section of the village they'd been assigned. It was a ways back from the market district; a suburb. The team of three broke off from each other, and went to work. Taiyari spent a good hour and a half, pulling weeds and cutting through roots with his field knife.
- 3]It didn't take him long to finish. After the hour had gone by, he would examine his handywork with a bit of a nod to himself. He sheathed the field knife and sighed, clapping the dirt from his hands before brushing off his knees. Another nod, and he headed off, back towards the team's final meeting point. When the other two had arrived, they each signed the slip, and off they went.
- 4]Tai wasted no time getting to work on his next job. Luckily, this one didn't require him to be paired up. It was a simple clean-up. He and his teammates had elected to split off and do the jobs they thought they could handle individually so as to save time. His first task was a garbage cleanup detail in the main square of the village. Tai wasted no time turning it into an exercise of discipline, taking care to pick up each individual piece of refuse. After another hour and a half, the square was spotless.
- 5] He stood near the receptacle he'd been using and looked out to check his work one last time before nodding to himself. 'Grandpa would be proud of this work,' he thought to himself. He pulled the list from his pocket and read down it. "More yardwork," he grumbled to himself, then headed off to the mansion his team had assigned him. He spend a good two hours, meticulously hand-cutting the rows of hedges lining the property. When the snooty businessman who owned the place finally agreed his work was adequate, he was paid, and he headed off directly to his next task.
- 6]It was just passed noon when he arrived at the Inuzuka kennels. The woman in charge, a jounin named Kitaba, explained to him the situation: three of the ninpups had managed to get loose! He was to track them down and capture them. At first, he'd thought the task an easy one. But he had sorely underestimated the ninpups.
- 7]When he'd finally gotten the first one cornered, he only realized too late that the little dog had deliberately led him into a trap. He followed the little yapping thing into an alley, and when he'd gotten halfway in, between the houses, the other two puppies appeared from thin air. He was immediately hit by a spray of liquid. The dogs had marked him with pee, and in the confusion, the one he'd cornered had managed to slip by him and escape.
- 8]Fuming, he spun and rushed back out into the open. It didn't take him long to spot the three puppies, staring back at him with what he swore were smirks, though he was certain dogs couldn't smirk. He started to barrel after them when he was stopped in his tracks. An aroma hit him like a hammer. He turned to his left to see a food kiosk that had just finished cooking a load of bacon.
- 9]Without a second thought, he'd rushed past, taking the entire load off the counter and leaving his coin sack in its place. 'Got you this time,' he thought to himself, chasing after the dogs. It wasn't hard to find them after they'd been running for a bit; he just had to follow the trail of irritated and angry cries from the public.
- 10]He only had to run for a minute or so until he caught sight of the first pupper. He watched as the little things darted across a gap between two buildings as they lept from roof too roof. Thinking quickly, Tai launched a handful of bacon as hard as he could in the direction of the puppies. The first handful skittered over a gutter and fell uselessly to the ground.
- 11]Tai cursed at himself and grabbed another handful. This time, he was careful to take aim, and when he launched it, the bacon soared right over the dogs heads and came to a halt just in their path. They didn't even take a second to investigate it. The smell had already caught their noses, and within a second, they'd scarfed all of it down.
- 12]When they turned and set their sights on him, Tai gulped. Normally, he was not one to scare easily, but the look of pure, terrifying, ferocious hunger in their cute little puppy eyes shook him to his core. He stopped running and actually took a step backwards. That ended up being a mistake.
- 13]With a growl, they bolted at him, faster than he'd ever thought they were capable of moving. His eyes went wide and his jaw slack for a moment in awe. Then, just before the first puppy could slam into his chest, he ducked, spun on a heel and took off at top speed, running through the streets back towards the area with the kennels. They were upon hs heels in an instant.
- 14]It was all he could do to keep them from tearing at his ankles. He was strategically throwing single pieces of bacon onto the ground a little ways off from his feet. This was managing to draw the ninken pups' attention away from his heels for just long enough to give him room to breathe. When the kennels were in sight, he shouted "GANG WAY!" and managed to clear a path directly into the pens.
- 15]Kitaba, who had stood at the gate to the kennels, shut and locked it as Tai dropped the remaining bacon into the kennel, dove to the side and rolled backwards and out of harms way. The puppies and a few of the dogs in the pens went to work and within a few moments, the sizable pile of pork had been devoured. Kitaba, laughing, couldn't even manage to compose herself enough to tell him a job well done, and instead, she signed the slip and sent him on his way to meet with the rest of his team to turn their mission reports in.

- 1]The cheery old Uzumaki woman(Stonetree) walks into the library, hands tucked into the sleeves of her kimono. As always, and despite the recent events, she wears a bright smile on her wrinkled face, and her purple eyes twinkle out at her granddaughters with their usual mischevious glint. The small nintako named Kyojin perches ever-watchful on her right shoulder. "Hello, my darlings!"
- 2]The cheery old Uzumaki woman(Stonetree) couldn't help but chuckle as her twin granddaughters collided with her simultaneously. She'd wrap her arms around them both in a massive bearhug. Kyojin, having recovered from almost being knocked from his perch on the old woman's shoulders, gave a bit of a huff. "Yeesh," the little octopus complained in exasperation. "Run an old lady over, why dontcha'?" he'd say. This would draw a swat on the top of his bulbous head by the old woman. [Think like... 1940s gangster accent for Kyojin]
- 3]"Watch it, you. I think I can handle a hug from my babies!" she'd say, pretending she was more offended by his assumption than his comment on her age. She'd turn her attention back to Ayana and Khazura and immediately notice the tear streaks running down the latter's cheeks. Her brow would furrow, adopting the same concerned expression her father used to wear, years and years ago. "Now, why've you been crying?" she'd ask. "What's the matter?"
- 4]The cheery old Uzumaki woman(Stonetree) quirked a brow. As a resourceful lady, with an ear and an eye in all places, she'd already heard of the affliction Khazura had suffered, being hospitalized by some mysterious burst on energy that appeared from her hand. She'd hold out a hand to Khazura expectantly. "May I see your hand, darling?" she'd ask before offering a glance in Arata's direction, hearing his recounting of the tale. She'd bow her head in grattitude. "Then myself and my granddaughters owe you our thanks, young man."
- 5]The cheery old Uzumaki woman(Stonetree) takes a gentle hold of Khazura's hand, and pulls it closer for a better look. As she does, Kyojin moves down her arm and comes to rest atop Khazura's hand. She would feel a warm wave of energy emit from the young octopus before he'd begin to transform; his head flattened into a disc and grew almost twice the size in diameter, and his skin became transparent. The marks from the seal on Khazura's hand; the chains coiled around her fingers and palm, and the uzumaki swirl itself, when looked at through the lens that Kyojin seemed to become, glowed a roiling, angry black and purple. The chakra seemed to flow about the chains and the swirl of the seal angrily, and inside of the chakra, was a complex series of kanji. The old woman was silent for a moment as she stared at her granddaughter's hand. But then, Kyojin's jutsu wore off, and he reverted back to his normal size and form. She'd give Khazura a rather inquisitive look for a long minute, before asking. "Have you been sleeping lately?"
