Description: A fairly tall Elven woman with blonde hair cut into a bob. She has narrow, cold eyes; like two chips of ice. They always carry a deep-set, judging leer.

Though Half-Elven, Elise's ears are notably round. and more human-like.

**__SKILLS AND ABILITIES__**

-Anti-magic; Van Graffe's magic is incredibly limited. However, she herself is walking anti-magic. Any magical phenomena that targets her simply phases through her body as if it doesn't exist.

-Exceptional Swordplay: Van Graffe is an exceptional duelist; unparalleled swordplay that can only be matched by those that have seasoned themselves through years of war.

-Temporal Ticking; not necessarily magic, but an effect that is accompanied by Van Graffe at all times. Those within ten feet of her can hear the constant tick-tock of a clock. Whenever Van Graffe uses her magic, it also causes this effect to continue with the phenomena she creates.

-Pact: Most of Van Graffe's magic is limited by a powerful entity that even Van Graffe knows little of; an eldritch creature that she knows only to be locked within a sepulcher of ice.

-Zone of Silence: A zone of absolute quiet. Van Graffe causes a small zone to be entirely devoid of sound; this also suppresses magic within that area.

-Swift Footed: Agility is one of the many notable abilities she has.

-A heavy bastard sword, called the 'Minute'; hefty, but can be wielded with one hand.

**__PERSONAL INFORMATION__**

Dislikes: Not Elves, Paupers, Grimy and destitute areas.

Personality: Some might call her snooty and uptight; those people simply do not comprehend the standing that she carries over them! Elise is a vain, arrogant woman that will do just about anything if it means acquiring the power she desires. Her tendency to dismiss others based upon their appearance and actions tends to lead to her butting heads more often than not.

Background: Elise was born into a the house of Van Graffe. A family of privilege. One that is proud of its prestigious background -- every generation living within the Van Graffe family was always expected to become a capable magus, and for a long, long time, that was the trend. Generation after generation, the Van Graffe family produced powerful wizards and sorcerers that grew revered and feared.

...That ended with Elise Van Graffe was born.

A woman born out of wedlock in a tryst between the lord of the house and the Elven handmaid. This, of course, had lead to her being seen as a stain upon the Van Graffe lineage the second she came into the world, but despite the misfortune of being born a bastard, they chose to raise Elise as their daughter. Elise, of course, was not allowed to ever know who her real mother was; no matter how many times she questioned why her ears were slightly pointed compared to mother or father's.

...An unfortunate circumstance, that lead to those listeners being ripped at the tips, rounded off, and seared by the time she turned five, all in hopes of ensuring that the little girl's true nature would never be known to the common masses. And for a while, this worked. That single night of agony lead to Elise living a fairly privileged life; her family gave her good food, sent her to fine schools, she excelled in her studies, and that lovely Elven handmaid was always so nice to her. Sure, Mother scornfully looked down upon her whenever the handmaid arrived to help tutor her, but her kindness still remains in Elise's heart to this day.

Unfortunately, it was all fine and well until Van Graffe was realized as incapable of casting any of the spells she learned. Some called her a 'late bloomer'; waiting to blossom. She understood the magic...She knew how to write the arcane symbols, and yet her fingers failed to leave reality surrendering to her will. This frustrated her to no end. Power was something that she should have right at her fingertips; it was her birthright, and the world denied that power.

In time, she went from the esteemed daughter to the family laughing stock.

Father's attention turned towards Elise's younger sister, who had learned her first spell before there were two numbers to her age, and mother had scornfully looked upon her like she would a wretch; nose upturned as if offended by the mere sight.

Power, as it turns out.

I something that somebody must be willing to seize for themselves at any opportunity.

Elise heard voices from the jewelry that she was given; a never-melting ice that murmured her name, whispering to her softly the promises of finding the power that she so deserved. She need only scrawl a few symbols upon her grimoire, and it would be hers...

Power to crush those that mocked her for being incapable of magic.

Power to destroy the enemies of her revered, esteemed family.

Power to knock those that dare question her position down several pegs.

And more importantly, the truth. Why had that Elven handmaiden grown so fond of her?...Why did her ears start off pointed? Why did her parents hide that by clipping them?

And so, Elise began her pilgrimage. The voice carried her far north, into a frozen land, where whispers kissed her along with the blustering breeze of wind. In desperation, Van Graffe knelt at the ground, surrounded by a cacophony of countless spirits.

She would have her power to crush those that oppose her; she would have that strength to make her family not just revere her, but fear her should she desire to turn her wrath upon them.

'You need only promise to free me in your lifetime...and the greatness you desire will be yours. Far, far away...Within a sepulcher of unmelting ice...I sleep...'

The pact was made.

The deal was struck,

And though those fear her, it is for reasons that Elise could never comprehend. In order to hone herself, she trained and trained, becoming a huntress of sorts; Mages, after all, still needed to be kept in check.

And with the Van Graffe family now cowering the second her steps are heard within their halls, they have no choice but to grant her every piece of coin to learn how to train. She needs only to fulfill her end of the bargain.
