Eunice Valentine's

On the lush, planet of Ordos Cral, the seemingly endless plateau that you currently stand on is filled with vegetation, relatively harmless fauna and to top it off, the atmosphere is entirely friendly to organic life forms such as yourself. The shifting color of the grass and flowers in the area is a bit trippy, though. They sort of remind you of Rad-El Snake’s hypnotic gaze. Fortunately, Eunice brought along a pair of light refracting goggles that stave off the effect. You can never be too sure with these undocumented planets. It isn’t unusual for explorers and researchers to perish during their daring escapades. You just hope that your Omnitrix and Eunice’s environmental adaptation protocols are enough to keep the two of you safe.

“I see that you’re hard at work already.” says a familiar voice from behind. “I’d expect nothing less from the one that Azmuth chose to inherit the Omnitrix.” Eunice adds with a prideful expression. Despite her being the lead researcher in her field, she still treats you with a great deal of respect. It’s almost uncanny.

“It’s really not that impressive, U.” you state, calling her by the nickname that you gave her. Everytime you say it, her face lights up like a kid getting a new gaming console on Christmas morning. “This day literally hasn’t ended since we’ve gotten here. Makes me feel restless.” you say while plugging data into a ultra thin, interactive smart lens. They work like datapads, but much more powerful and efficient. Some of the tech that Azmuth has squirreled away could really revolutionize the galaxy.

“Trust me. An eternal day cycle is much more comforting than an eternal night cycle.” she proclaims while pulling out her smart lens and walking over to your side. “But really, this planet is so gorgeous. It’s teeming with life and brimming with potential. I feel bad that we may have to colonize it in the future.” Eunice pouts with a slight frown, as she kneels down to offer her hand to a nearby rodent with four black eyes and massive fangs. Instead of running away or attacking her, the freaky little guy nuzzles her hand and eventually climbs on top of it. Not long afterwards, a wide variety of alien creatures come rushing over to her, malice, bloodlust and natural instinct being entirely absent from their minds. She’s kinda like some bizarre, cyborg Snow White.

“Hey Wade, check out the incisors on this little fella! I’d bet they could punch through reinforced steel.” Eunice observes with a serene expression. Scratch that. She’s more of a nerdy cyborg Snow White.

“That’s a lot to chew on. But you should take a peek at the peepers on that insectoid buzzing around your head.” you point out, drawing her attention to a beetle with large, bulging eyestalks. “The scanner says that he can reflect the light from his environment in a concentrated flash. Must be a method for avoiding predators.” you deduce.

“You’d think he would see them coming before in time to get away.” Eunice snorts.

“You try hiding from predators when your eyes stand taller than any of the flora in your immediate surroundings.” you retort.

“Well I guess it's a good thing that he can fly up to 65 miles per hour, then.” Eunice says while digging a finger into the gap between the carapace surrounding its neck. It seems to really enjoy it for some reason.

To be entirely honest, you aren’t sure when and how this Nat Geo banter got started, but you and Eunice have really bonded over these past few weeks. It’s just that...being with a woman in an enclosed space while she’s unconsciously releasing crazy amounts of pheromones is really...really tough. Especially since she kinda looks identical to your cousin Ollie. Under normal circumstances, you’d never have these kinds of thoughts about someone who looks like your relative, but your hormones are driving you nuts!

And Eunice’s defenseless nature doesn’t make things any easier. On several occasions, you’ve caught her changing clothes out in your ship’s living area. You’ve told her to do it in her room with her door locked on several occasions, but it just keeps happening. It’s like those cheesy Japanese comic books that you used to read. You never thought that it could actually happen in real life.

She was naked when you found her, but you’re pretty sure that she’s capable of understanding the concept of shame and modesty. Maybe she’s doing all of this on purpose in order to tempt you.

...Nah, couldn’t be! Eunice is as innocent as can be. There’s now ay she’d try something so sly and underhanded.

Suddenly, a deafening roar interrupts your thoughts, causing you to realize that you’d be staring at Eunice for an extremely long time. Hopefully she hasn’t noticed too…

“Um, Wade…?” Eunice says while warily pointing over your shoulder. As you turn around, you’re met with the sight of a lumbering mammoth-like creature charging in your direction on all six of its legs. It doesn’t seem to have any eyes that you can see, but it’s got two trunks and four tusks for some reason.

For a moment, you consider transforming to meet the beast’s charge head-on, but then you remember that Eunice hates it when you hurt animals. Even bloodthirsty ones. Only one option, then.

“Let’s book it!” you shout, before turning around, grabbing her hand and running off towards a cave formation in the nearby distance.

“Wade, it’s gaining on us!” Eunice reports to you. But you could tell that from the constant thumping of his feet growing stronger with each passing second. You had no idea he’d be this fast! Maybe you should have transformed into XLR8 or Bloodrush. “Hold on!” Eunice shouts. But before you get a chance to react, she scoops you up and begins hopping towards the cave, clearing a massive distance with each consecutive leap. You feel a bit weird about being held like a princess, but in this particular predicament, you’ll let it slide.

With the wind whipping at your face and sweeping your hair back, you try not to peek over your shoulder to see where the mammoth is. Every time Eunice bounces off the ground, you can feel the vibrations from his stomping through her body. However, she manages to dive into the mouth of the cave, right before the aggressive creature could gore you with its tusks. The entire cave system shakes from the impact of his collision, causing dirt and debris to fall from the ceiling. Eventually, he gives up once he realizes that he can’t reach you, but that doesn’t stop him from stalking the area around the cave for a short while.

“You alright?” you ask Eunice, who is now laying on top of you with her face buried in your chest. When she looks up at you, it takes her a moment to process the situation. And once she becomes conscious of her position, her face turns bright red, and her eyes begin to waver. She then pushes herself off of you and scoots over to the opposite end of the cave before planting herself firmly on the ground. Currently, she’s sitting on her legs, which are shut tight, clenching her hands in her lap and staring up at the ceiling as she lets out an off-tune whistle.

You chuckle a bit at her awkward behavior, but suddenly, a sharp chill runs up your spine at that very moment. It’s unusually cold in this cave. You’ll have to examine it with your smart lens later.

“A-are you cold?” Eunice asks, now inching closer to you. “My adaptive systems allow me to survive in any environment, so my body’s pretty warm.” she explains. There’s a long pause before she speaks again. “M-my body’s pretty warm, you know. Like, REALLY warm!” she repeats with extra emphasis at the end. She looks like she’s waiting for you to continue the conversation.

“Oh...that’s nice.” you simply reply with a shiver. Now Eunice looks frustrated.

“I wouldn’t mind...cuddling for warmth, you know…” she mutters to herself while pouting and straightening her shoulder-length blonde hair with her hands. However, the cave’s acoustics made the sound carry a bit further than she expected, allowing you to hear her gripe loud and clear. As soon as she realizes this fact, her face turns bright red once more. “I-I-I meant ‘huddling’ together for warmth! It’s for the sake of survival ya’ know!” she cries in a desperate attempt to cover up for her blunder. “Unless...you don’t want to…?” she says in an almost innocent manner.

With a sigh, you make some room and pat the ground beside you. “Come on, then. I’m freezing over here.” you urge her. And with a beaming smile, she hops up and skips over to you, before plopping down and hugging you. “I guess it can’t be helped, then! For the sake of our survival!” she proclaims whilst nuzzling her head against your chest with a sheepish grin on her face.

She really is warm. Like a living radiator, or something. You feel like you could drift back to sleep like this.

There’s a ton of work to be done on this planet...but, you guess taking a break every now and again isn’t so bad...
