The plan under promotion will start once the service is active and the number transfer is completed. There is an expiration date for the groupon promotion and it will be visible on the account once it is redeemed. you can also inquire with Groupon about the expiration

There is nothing in the T&C on the deal page saying that there is an invisible unspecified deadline from Groupon at which point my renewals will stop, which is what you seem to be saying.
I am happy to redeem the code by 30 September as mentioned on the Groupon site; I just need to know if I can wait to activate and get 6 full renewals. This "promotion expiry" is not mentioned on the Groupon site and I do not understand how it applies  10:24:18 am

Yes that is correct if your activate by November then other free renewals will not work once promotion expires on 22 Jan 2018. This promotion is set by Groupon =)
