- Ms. ----,
- Thank you for considering us for the purchase of your beautiful home. Our realtor asked us to write a letter to you to tell you what the purchase of your home would mean to us.
- Michael and I have been together since we were teenagers. We both come from quite literally nothing - he was forced to quit school and get his GED, and I was thrown out of my parents' home at 18 with only the clothes on my back. We have lived a very hard and complicated life, sometimes working two jobs each to make ends meet. We have lived in the poorest imaginable conditions in the US. We have only had each other through all of it.
- Please don't misunderstand me: I'm not trying to sell a sob story. We've also been very - VERY - lucky. After a time, he found good employment that allowed us to live in Hawaii, Italy, and England, and we've been so fortunate to be able to see the world together. We have lived in some lovely rental properties...but they were temporary and never really our own. My intent in telling you about the difficulties we experienced is to help explain why owning a clean, well-maintained home would mean so much to us. This is an important life goal that we have truly worked hard to reach.
- The house on Dunwich would be a first for us. It would be the first time in our lives that we would have a place of our own. We would no longer have to worry about whether our rent would suddenly increase, or whether the owner wants to move back in, or where we would live from one year to the next. We would no longer have to go through all the trouble of packing all our possessions and moving - something we have done every two years since 2002. It would mean a sort of stability we've never had before, and stability is something we desperately need. We're both ready to settle down. At 33, I think it's time we stop roaming and finally have a place to call home.
- But why your house, specifically? We have both worked very hard to get to a place where we can afford such a beautiful house, and it came as quite a shock when we realized this was within our budget. I was so surprised to see the master bathroom - looking at where we came from, I could never in my wildest dreams have imagined having a bathroom such as that for myself. Additionally, the patio and deck are so peaceful and well-tended, I would be eager to invite friends over to enjoy a lazy afternoon together. It would allow our little dog, Ollie, a place to enjoy the fresh air without the necessity of a lead. I work mostly from home while I study for my Ph.D., and the lower level would be the perfect office and studio. It's a breathtaking property; it's clear in just touring it that you have loved it and cared for it, and I would be honored if you would allow us to be its next owners.
- Whatever you decide, I appreciate your consideration and hope nothing but the best for you in the future.
- Thank you,
