  1. <vampsquirrel> Alright, so you are descending into the hallway.
  2. <vampsquirrel> Pursued hotly by the basilisk and ogre who were wrecking you.
  3. <yzabtech> Mike keeps running down the hallway. He tries to spot what's at the end.
  4. <vampsquirrel> The end is too far away for him to clearly see what is there. He sees a booklet sitting in a stand on the wall next to him as he races past it.
  5. <vampsquirrel> Make a perception check.
  6. <yzabtech> roll 1d20+2
  7. <`DICE> yzabtech rolled 1d20+2 [ 1d20=5 ]{7}
  8. <yzabtech> ((darn))
  9. <yzabtech> Mike grabs the booklet, and keeps running. Maybe it'll be useful later.
  10. <vampsquirrel> You don't notice anything odd about the hallway as your running, but suddenly a massive book swings out from a slot in the wall heading straight towards you! Roll acrobatics to dodge.
  11. <yzabtech> roll 1d20+1
  12. <`DICE> yzabtech rolled 1d20+1 [ 1d20=4 ]{5}
  13. <yzabtech> ((dice is broken today))
  14. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d8
  15. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d8 [ 1d8=3 ]{3}
  16. <yzabtech> ((we got 8 failed rolls in a row earlier))
  17. <vampsquirrel> The book clips you dealing 3 damage, but not impairing your ability to run very much.
  18. <yzabtech> ((mike has 9 health left))
  19. <vampsquirrel> The basilisk and ogre continue charging after you.
  20. <yzabtech> Mike looks for ways out, or hiding places.
  21. <vampsquirrel> The ogre charges through the book first.
  22. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d20-2
  23. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d20-2 [ 1d20=20 ]{18}
  24. <yzabtech> roll 1d20+2 for perception
  25. <`DICE> yzabtech rolled 1d20+2 for perception [ 1d20=13 ]{15}
  26. <vampsquirrel> He dodges past it with extreme agility that literally defies explanation.
  27. <vampsquirrel> You don't see any way out, but you do see a series of jets in the floor ahead of you.
  28. <vampsquirrel> The basilisk follows through the book.
  29. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d20+7
  30. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d20+7 [ 1d20=7 ]{14}
  31. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d8
  32. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d8 [ 1d8=5 ]{5}
  33. <vampsquirrel> The basilisk is also hit by the book, taking 5 damage.
  34. <yzabtech> ((jets as in planes?))
  35. <vampsquirrel> ((no as in the things which shoot fire out))
  36. <yzabtech> ((or jets as in jets of water))
  37. <yzabtech> ((oh))
  38. <vampsquirrel> ((huh, maybe I don't know the right definition for this, either way there are little black nozzles in the floor which look like they probably shoot something out.))
  39. <vampsquirrel> Right after you clear them they begin gushing out fire, which the ogre and basilisk try to jump over.
  40. <vampsquirrel> roll 2#1d20
  41. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 2#1d20 [ 1d20=8 ]{8}, [ 1d20=5 ]{5}
  42. <vampsquirrel> The ogre manages to jump over them in a massive leap but the basilisk is caught within them.
  43. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d4
  44. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d4 [ 1d4=2 ]{2}
  45. <vampsquirrel> It takes 2 damage but the pair continues chasing you, roll perception again.
  46. <yzabtech> roll 1d20+2
  47. <`DICE> yzabtech rolled 1d20+2 [ 1d20=8 ]{10}
  48. <vampsquirrel> You don't notice anything strange, but you hear a clicking sound as you continue running and metal words begin shooting out slots in the walls.
  49. <vampsquirrel> Make an acrobatics check to dodge them.
  50. <yzabtech> roll 1d20+1
  51. <`DICE> yzabtech rolled 1d20+1 [ 1d20=6 ]{7}
  52. <vampsquirrel> ((ok, this is starting to get depressing))
  53. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d4
  54. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d4 [ 1d4=3 ]{3}
  55. <yzabtech> ((6 health left))
  56. <vampsquirrel> The words slice you dealing 3 damage, from behind you can see the ogre and the basilisk continuing to pursue you, heedless of the darts.
  57. <vampsquirrel> roll 2#1d20
  58. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 2#1d20 [ 1d20=15 ]{15}, [ 1d20=17 ]{17}
  59. <vampsquirrel> ((wtf))
  60. <vampsquirrel> They both dodge through the darts taking minimal damage, but the basilisk is still on fire.
  61. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d4
  62. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d4 [ 1d4=3 ]{3}
  63. <vampsquirrel> As you continue running you see a large red button sitting on a pedestal before you.
  64. <yzabtech> Mike presses the button. It's not like he has many other choices.
  65. <vampsquirrel> The walls behind him suddenly slam together.
  66. <vampsquirrel> roll 2#1d20
  67. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 2#1d20 [ 1d20=1 ]{1}, [ 1d20=6 ]{6}
  68. <vampsquirrel> The ogre and basilisk are unable to avoid them and are crushed.
  69. <yzabtech> ((so where does the grist go if the ogre and basilisk are crushed))
  70. <yzabtech> ((is it stuck in the wall))
  71. <vampsquirrel> ((yeah))
  72. <vampsquirrel> A slight trickle of grist flows from the walls, giving you at least something from all this.
  73. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d10+10
  74. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d10+10 [ 1d10=7 ]{17}
  75. <vampsquirrel> roll 1d2
  76. <`DICE> vampsquirrel rolled 1d2 [ 1d2=1 ]{1}
  77. <vampsquirrel> You receive 17 build grist from all that, and are now trapped underground.
  78. <yzabtech> Mike presses the red button again.
  79. <vampsquirrel> Nothing happens.
  80. <yzabtech> ((do I get one shale?))
  81. <vampsquirrel> ((no.))
  82. <yzabtech> Mike realizes he has a solution to this problem: the pen.
  83. <yzabtech> ((time to dig through the updates to find what each ink does))

  90. <vampsquirrel> ((ah))
  91. <vampsquirrel> ((we can continue in posts now anyways, sorry about that fight, I didn't expect it to go that badly.))
  92. <vampsquirrel> ((you want to pastebin or shall I?))
  93. <yzabtech> ((1 sec i'm diging through upd8's))
  94. <yzabtech> ((digging*))
  95. <yzabtech> ((here we go))
  96. <yzabtech> ((i found the ink functions))

  98. <yzabtech> Mike empties the glowing white ink in his magic pen into the empty ink bottle. He fills the pen with the magic black ink, and dissolves the wall.
  99. <yzabtech> ((time to get the rest of the grist))
  100. <yzabtech> ((and also to find a way out))
  101. <vampsquirrel> ((alright, gimme a sec to roll things))
  102. <vampsquirrel> You proceed through the wall and receive 189 build, 72 tier 1, 12 tier 2 grist.
  103. <yzabtech> ((yesssss))
  104. <yzabtech> ((added on to the previous amount?))
  105. <vampsquirrel> ((Yes))
  106. <yzabtech> ((alright i just edited the stat sheet))
  107. <yzabtech> Mike decides that he's going to look what's down the other way before exiting.
  108. <yzabtech> Now that the ogre and basilisk are gone, he has time to check for traps and stuff.
  109. <vampsquirrel> Down the other way he sees a long jade slide descending down in a spiral to somewhere unknown.
  110. <yzabtech> ((is it steep enough to climb back up?))
  111. <yzabtech> ((not-steep enough*))
  112. <vampsquirrel> ((You could try, but it would be very difficult))
  113. <yzabtech> Mike decides that he'll slide down the slide later.
  114. <yzabtech> He opens the booklet and reads.
  115. <vampsquirrel> It's a map of the hallway detailing the traps and how to avoid them.
  116. <vampsquirrel> At the end where you see the slide is, it simply has a large red X.
  117. <yzabtech> Mike looks at all the locations of the traps. Do they have X's on them too or is it just the slide?
  118. <vampsquirrel> It is just the slide.
  119. <yzabtech> Mike concludes that this is a treasure map.
  120. <yzabtech> The slide has important stuff down there...but he'll check it out later. He uses the booklet to weave through the traps, and go back to his home to fix his wounds.
