  17. Chapter 1
  18. With a deep sigh, I leaned against the body of a fallen Cyclops God, his minions’ bodies scattered around me. I reached into one of two small bags at my side and picked out a black tome with strange markings on the cover. Most priests thought the tome was a mere instrument that gave its holder the power to heal, but a few priests realized that it was a book that only priests could translate. The more powerful the tome, the more secrets they revealed to its wielder.
  19. “Renewed Life,” I spoke the name of the fifth volume in my hands, then I opened the book to a marked page.
  20. Before I could start reading, I could hear huffing and panting in the distance. Under a blazing sun, I could see a figure staggering through the black, mountainous terrain called the Godlands.
  21. “H-help! Someone! Please!” The armored figure called, his cries for help became more desperate as he closed in on my location, the fort of the fallen cyclops.
  22. I turned back to the black page covered with white words, but the man’s words became more desperate, too desperate to ignore…
  23. With a growl, I jammed the book back into my second bag and I pulled out the eighth and second rarest tome, Darkness Purified, which was significantly stronger than the fifth tome. Afterward, I rubbed my face with my hands and messed up my hair, then I charged outside to meet the man.
  24. “W-What’s going on…” I panted as I met the knight, blood leaking through his pierced armor onto the ground..
  25. The knight fell to his knees and grabbed my legs tight, “p-please help me…a beholder struck my eyes and now I’m being chased by Medusa. It’s been an hour and I’m still blind, p-please…help me priest.”
  26. I held my tome out to him and he gasped at the sight of it as though he could see again.
  27. “That tome-” The man wiped blood away from his mouth and fell pitifully at my feet. “Volz, please, bless me with your tome. Give me back my eyesight, give me back my life, and I’ll be forever in your debt. Have mercy on my soul.”
  28. As the knight pleaded, I took a quick note of the five white stars on his shield, denoting his incredibly high rank among the hundreds of knights living in the realm of Oryx, the Mad God.
  29. “Stand, Roy, bravest of knights.” I said as I stood the tall man up and gazed past him, where Medusa was steadily and quietly approaching.
  30. I started to read through a long spell in the middle of the tome, but Medusa made her appearance known with a loud hiss, turning the knight around with a hiss of his own.
  31. “Volz, hurry! Give me the strength to strike down this slimy serpent!” The knight commanded as I reached the end of the spell.
  32. Covered in a glow of dark blue light, I raised my hand as I held up the tome with the other, then I turned toward Roy and held out my hand, flawlessly targeting him with a spell that he’d never expect.
  33. Roy grinned as he clenched his glowing sword tight and raised his shield, he raised his sword high into the air as Medusa approached him, but before he could attack, his eyes grew wide and he froze in place. He didn’t blink, he didn’t move, I could barely hear his breathing.
  34. “W-What is this…” the frenzied and terrified knight asked as he tried to move his body, but to no avail. “V-Volz…w-what did you do to me…”
  35. I didn’t make a sound as I tucked away my tome and awaited for Medusa to finally kill her prey, which she did with a bite on his neck, sending a lethal venom through his body that would slowly and painfully kill him.
  36. In Roy’s final moments, I could see every emotion pour from his tears onto the ground, hate, remorse, confusion. After a while, the only thing I could see in Roy’s eyes was a dead greyness that once showed how much he valued his life and how much he valued the life of others. The cheery, upbeat feeling that used to surround him was finally gone.
  37. “He called me slimy…” Medusa called to me with a somewhat confused stare as I knelt down to close Roy’s once-determined eyes. “I’m not really slimy, am I?”
  38. I responded to Medusa with a somewhat shy smile as I looted Roy’s legendary Sword of Acclaim and Shield of Ogmur. Once I placed Roy’s precious belongings in my first bag, I turned to Medusa.
  39. She crossed her arms as she glared down at Roy’s corpse, then she turned to me with a sigh. “You want this right?” Medusa held up a bag and held it out, but before I could grab it, she snatched it away.
  40. “First, tell me that I’m not slimy.” Medusa demanded, and I step forward, rolling my eyes. I felt the scales on Medusa’s stomach then the scales on her face, just under her glowing blue eyes.
  41. “No, you’re not slimy,” I said, then I took a step back.
  42. Medusa sighed, then tossed me her bag. “He held five stars, so five Potions of Life. Also, Oryx wanted me to give you that robe, it’s a piece of your bonus.”
  43. I took the bag from Medusa to make sure there were five Potions of Life inside, afterward I looked around inside the bag to find a Robe of the Moon Wizard neatly folded inside. It wasn’t as good as the lime green robe I was wearing, but I didn’t complain.
  44. “A piece?”
  45. Medusa turned away, “you’ll get the rest of it when the two of you meet in person tomorrow.” With that, the mysterious Medusa vanished, leaving me alone with the corpse of a hero.

  58. Chapter 2
  59.
  60.
  61.
  62. I stumbled into Nexus covered with scrapes, bruises, and burns. Crowds near and far raced forward to watch, but not help, me carry a dead Roy on my back, his feet dragging across the rough tiled floor. The sun was blazing even brighter than it was in the godlands, and it only seemed to grow hotter with time.
  63. The crowd from the sidelines whispered to each other and watched in horror as blood from Roy’s mouth dripped onto my glowing robe and then down my arm and onto the ground, marking my trail bloody.
  64. “Ugh…” I groaned and gasped for breath as I fell forward, the weight of a fully armored knight smashing me into the ground.
  65. I laid absolutely paralyzed until Roy’s heavy body was lifted from me. A kind hand coupled with a soft voice helped me to my feet. My eyes focused on Roy’s corpse, held up by Talon, the legendary paladin and Sev, the legendary Rogue.
  66. “Roy!” Talon called as he tried to shake Roy awake, but to no avail. “Roy!?”
  67. It was almost hard, but I had to tell him. “H-he can’t hear you.”
  68. “What!?” Talon glared at me, tears in his eyes as he demanded to know what happened to his best friend, the only person he called brother.
  69. I looked into Talon’s hateful eyes only to watch tears run down his cheeks, as though he knew what I saw and what I had done just by looking into my eyes.
  70. “Not here.” I mumbled, then with the legendary archer, Kale, at my side, we retreated into our guild hall with a crowd following us. We closed and locked the door to the guild’s mansion, then we laid Roy’s body on a table in the middle of the main room.
  71. Eventually, the noise and commotion brought the other legendaries to the table. Among them was Bioz, another rogue, one known for his kindness more than his ability to stealthily teleport with the use of his magic cloak.
  72. “What happened? Is he…? Bioz looked over Roy’s body, but couldn’t finish his question.
  73. I slowly nodded; within seconds, I had a nearly flawless lie.
  74. “Medusa.”
  75. Talon glared at me, “Don’t call Roy weak.” He mumbled, “A mere medusa could NEVER kill him!” Talon became quiet for a moment, then he rushed forward and grabbed me by my neck. He choked me until Bioz and Silvi, the legendary Huntress, pulled him off.
  76. “It was…” I panted hard and gasped for breath even though I wasn’t hurt at all. “It wasn’t a medusa…it was Medusa herself.”
  77. The entire room became quiet and all eyes were on me. Normal denizens of the realm didn’t know about the actual gods of the realm, all they knew of were the clones of the real Medusa, the real Beholder, and the real White Demon. None of them knew of their existence, let alone that the clones were nowhere near as strong as the actual gods themselves.
  78. “So what happened?” Sev asked, his voice as cold as his icy blue eyes.
  79. I took a deep breath, then started to explain. “I finished taking down a cyclops god when I saw Roy staggering through the godlands. He had been blinded by The Beholder and he had been for an hour or so.” I let them remember that The Beholder, the REAL beholder could blind people for hours, even days at a time, before continuing. “I raised my tome to heal him, but before I could, Medusa, the real medusa, rushed in at lightning speed and bit him in the neck.”
  80. With a sniffle, I almost forced myself to cry. “H-He died right there in my arms…and I couldn’t fight back, I wasn’t strong enough to kill her…even after batting me aside and tossing Roy around like a ragdoll…” Tears were streaming down my face as they were Talon’s and a few other members of the Legend guild.
  81. No one spoke as I cried, and no one spoke as I reached into one of my bags and revealed Roy’s cold purple Sword of Acclaim, the very sword he used to slay hordes of the god’s clones and almost Oryx himself.
  82. “Here…” I sniffled, “She took Roy’s shield, but I wouldn’t let her take this, no matter how much she beat me.”
  83. Talon took Roy’s sword from me and held it up high into the air, his tears drying on his cheeks. The sword glowed as though it had been returned to the hands of its rightful owner. With the sword’s purple glow surrounding him, Talon lowered the sword and touched the dead Roy’s chest with it.
  84. “The others who live in this world, in the Realm of the Mad God, must be told about this. Tonight, we’ll tell them about Roy’s death, there will be a funeral, and everyone will be there. No exceptions…got it?” Talon glared around the room, then at me, who only looked back, trying to look ashamed that I didn’t ‘save’ his friend.
  85. Talon took a step toward me, but Kale blocked his path. Bioz pulled me away from Talon and turned me toward the door. “Go get Rehd. Be back in two hours for the funeral.”
  86. I didn’t respond. I only turned away, acting ashamed as I left the guild fort and closed the door gently behind myself. Outside, there was a giant crowd waiting to hear of what had happened.
  87. “Was that Roy I saw!?”
  88. “Is he hurt?!”
  89. “What happened!?”
  90. I continued through the crowd after responding with only two words. “I’m sorry.” I left Nexus behind me without a word and left into the Realm, a place whose inhabitants were all thrown into to be food for Oryx’s minions, at least, that’s why they thought they were brought here.
  91. The Realm was a beautiful island surrounded by nothing but water for hundreds of miles around. On the edges was the beach, where near harmless scorpions and pirates roamed freely. Inland, lives cubes, weretigers, goblins, and other weak creatures. Lesser gods lived higher up near the mountains, where they resided with their minions.
  92. At the two highest points in the realm were areas called the Godlands, where the god’s clones lived. The first area was a volcanic region where the ground had been blackened. It was scarred with lava fissures, where red demon clones lived. It was a place where those without knowledge had their lives come to an unexpected end. The other highest point was called the tundra, it was a cold, dead, desolate land covered with snow where gods’ clones roamed, attacking anyone unlucky enough to stray into their territory.
  93. It would’ve been a long trek to meet Rehd, the legendary wizard, but luckily, I had a teleportation stone, a glowing blue gem that allowed its holder the power to teleport freely to someone else with the gem. I held up my hand and whispered the wizard’s name with closed eyes, suddenly the temperature dropped instantly and I could feel an icy breeze spiral around me.
  94. I opened my eyes to find myself in the tundra, surrounded by hundreds of gods. I jumped back even though I knew they wouldn’t attack me, just in case Rehd was watching. He was, and he wasn’t affected by the army of gods that circled us, all waiting to attack…

  106. Chapter 2 continued......
  107. “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
  108. I took a few steps backward to stand next to Rehd, who sat on a sizable rock. Unlike other wizards, Rehd didn’t wear a robe and he rarely fought with his staff. He wore a blood red suit with white gloves and black dress shoes, and he was unrivaled by others in terms of strength. He knew the incantation on his spell, the Elemental Detonation, perfectly, and never found a need to carry it.
  109. “What’s that?” I pocketed my hands, knowing if I would ever be in danger; the god’s clones would shield my body with their own. It was their job, but hopefully, they wouldn’t have to.
  110. Rehd smiled demonically, “The look of fear in their eyes, I can’t wait until their life is replaced by utter silence. I can’t wait until my gloves are painted red with their blood…”
  111. He was a psychopath, he loved death and blood, but more than anything, he loved being the cause of death and blood-shed. Luckily for me, I found it easy to talk to him, though I couldn’t explain why.
  112. Among the hundreds of gods surrounding us, only one of them moved, but it quickly moved back into the crowd of others. They were all terrified of him, being able to feel his strength from afar, but eventually, they would challenge him.
  113. Rehd turned to me and started to speak, but before he could even finish his sentence, a white demon rushed from the circle and knocked him to the ground, but he wasn’t down for long.
  114. “That’s right…fight me…kill me!” Rehd roared as he cast his spell, detonating the white demon’s body in an instant, causing blood to rain down on him from the sky.
  115. The red eyed wizard stood up with a grin, bleeding heavily from one of his arms, but he didn’t squint or show any pain. He didn’t turn to me asking to be healed.
  116. “Do you want me to heal your wound? They’ll attack soon.” I mumbled, somewhat turned away from him.
  117. Rehd reached behind him and pulled out his most expensive weapon, the Staff of Extreme Prejudice. The staff was fairly weak compared to the others in his personal artillery, but I remember the answer he gave me when I first asked him why he used it. “I want to be close enough to watch the life drain out of their eyes. I want them to lean on me as they slowly bleed to death,” he said it with a dark smile.
  118. “I welcome my own bloodshed; it makes me feel alive…so thank you.” Rehd started, his uniquely demonic voice became infinitely more dark, “but all I want is for you to do is stay out of my way…”
  119. Rehd smiled and I respected his wishes by taking a few steps back. The surrounding waves of gods rushed toward and past me. In an instant, Rehd was swarmed and I couldn’t see him, but his maniacal laughing never stopped, not even for a moment.
  120. “Yes!” Rehd yelled. I turned around only minutes after he had been attacked to find him surrounded by bodies of hundreds of gods. He held a white demon’s neck in one hand and a medusa’s in the other. To the symphony of the gods’ screams, Rehd cast his spell with both hands, decapitating them both, making their blood rain on him as he held up their bodies.
  121. Rehd took a deep breath, unable to contain his excitement. “I love it…the smell the blood, the bodies around me…can you not feel it!?” He turned to me with a demonic smile, but I shyly smiled back. I didn’t enjoy death or blood as much as he did, or at all, but I didn’t have a problem being around it.
  122. It took Rehd several minutes to calm down, but once he did, he made his way to my side, where I sat him down and healed him. Afterward, he made himself comfortable on the blood soaked tundra, blood dripping from his clothes and I sat beside him, explaining the news as I did.
  123. “So old Roy’s dead huh?” Rehd didn’t show a single emotion. “That’s a shame.”
  124. Rehd and I talked until the sun started to fall, we didn’t talk about much, but neither of us cared about missing Roy’s funeral. I didn’t care because of Talon’s newfound attitude and Rehd just didn’t seem to care at all. Surely enough, though, he felt some sense of remorse about Roy’s death. The two got along well, a noble knight, kindhearted and heroic, and a bloodthirsty wizard, who loved nothing more than having the ability to kill just by saying a mere word or making a slight motion.
  125. “Come on, we should head back now. They’re probably wondering where we are.” I said, then I pulled Rehd up to his feet. We held up our teleportation stones and within seconds we were standing next to a portal to Nexus, which was hitherto completely safe from Oryx, as far as anyone could gather.
  126. With Rehd at my side, we marched into Nexus to be greeted by a cheering crowd. They all tackled me then lifted me high into the air, cheering my name as they walked toward the Legends guild hall.
  127. “Vol! Vol! Vol!” They chanted, leaving off the “z” as they set me down in front of the other legends, who were all standing on the other side of a closed coffin, obviously with Roy in it.
  128. “We know you tried to help Roy, as a priest, nearly powerless, you tried to fight Medusa herself and you fought your way through the Godlands to bring back Roy’s body to us. We told them, you’re their hero.” Bioz said as he clapped his hands on my shoulder playfully.

  139. Chapter 2 continued again.....
  140.
  141.
  142. I turned to face the crowd without a word; they all quieted down as though I had spoken.
  143. “Say something!” Bioz urged as he pushed me forward with a smile.
  144. I glared back at Bioz, then turned back to the crowd, holding out the strongest tome, the Tome of Purification. “Roy…was brave, much braver than I could ever pray to be.” I started, completely hushing the crowd and even the omnipresent sheep around the Nexus.
  145. “Today, Roy died, and it was because of me. I wasn’t able to save him.” I clenched my teeth tight, as though I were disappointed in myself. “I couldn’t come back to face you all, to look at the face of a fallen ally, a fallen friend, but I know Roy would have wanted this. He would have wanted me to move on; he had faith in me as he did all of us.”
  146. I opened the tome to a spell I had been practicing. “Roy is no longer alive, but the fight with Oryx continues! When we finally take Oryx down, Roy will be right there with us! He’ll be watching over us when we fight! He’ll celebrate with us when we win!”
  147. As I finished, a bright glow surrounded me, then a golden aura exploded from the book, covering the Nexus with a warm glow. The crowd looked around in awe. Once they realized that I had finished, they cheered louder than I had ever heard before. I turned around to face the legends and they all smiled back, all of them except for one. Talon stared me down for a long while until Rehd grabbed us both by our shoulders and shook us.
  148. “Don’t be so down buddy. Let’s have a banquet for our hero, Volz!” Rehd said with his usual devious and evil smile.
  149. Rehd was smiling; but Talon wasn’t. He continued to glare through me until I turned away.
  150. “I’m not hungry.” I passed Rehd and Talon, retreating into our guild hall, then I made my way up a flight of stairs and into my room, longing for a nice rest.
  151. Without even closing the door, I staggered across my room and fell face-down onto my bed. Suddenly, everything became black.
  152. I awoke to cries of distress and screams of pain. Before I could even completely open my eyes, Bioz rushed into my room, covered with sweat and bruises.
  153. “Volz! A Grand Sphinx is terrorizing the realm!”
  154. Bioz grabbed me and ripped me from my bed. He pulled me downstairs where people who had been attacked by the sphinx littered the floor, all waiting for a priest.
  155. I raised a powerful red tome in my bag and opened it to a page with a healing prayer on it.
  156. “I call for your help father. I am Volz, one of your favored sons. Hear my prayer.” Within moments of my prayer, a warm glow lit up the room, enveloping everyone in it in a glow that would slowly heal them.
  157. “Thanks,” Bioz grabbed me by my arm and raced out of the guild hall into the Nexus, where a large group controlled who entered the realm.
  158. Bioz and I showed our weapons to the guards of the realm and they admitted us entrance.
  159. “Don’t die,” Bioz called with a smirk, then he jumped into the portal.
  160. I couldn’t help but smile back as I raced behind him, to find myself in a realm where trees had been down and burned for as far as the eye could see. Surely enough, the Grand Sphinx was here.
  161. I ripped the teleportation stone from my pocket and teleported to Bioz, who was hidden behind a group of trees with most of the other legends and a large group of others who wanted to fight.
  162. “You hide behind rocks and trees like cowards, but you can’t hide from this!” The Grand Sphinx called, screaming her fury while conducting a symphonic cacophony of mind-blowingly powerful attacks.
  163. Talon made his way through the crowd of injured to stand before me with his usual disapproving glare.
  164. “Where are the others, you healed them didn’t you?” He asked as we stood face-to-face, hidden behind a tree.
  165. I nodded, “Yes, I prayed for them.”
  166. “What?!” Talon roared over the sound of the Grand Sphinx’s rage. “Why use a healing method that’s so slow?”
  167. Talon and I glared at each other for a long while before I answered him.
  168. “If they were injured so badly that they had to return to Nexus, they’d just be endangering themselves in this fight. By the time they’re completely healed, this should be over. I don’t want anyone else to die.
  169. He wasn’t happy with my answer in any way, but he couldn’t deny I did what had to be done.
  170. “Fine, heal us and stay out of my way.” Talon spat, then he turned to Bioz. “Where is Rehd? I told you to bring him here.”
  171. Bioz glared at Talon, but answered respectfully. “He said he needed to wash his gloves. He’ll be here soon.”
  172. Talon groaned then he looked over the group I had just healed. “All right, fine, we need a plan.”
  173. The other legends discussed a plan as I stood alone, arms crossed. If Rehd was coming, the Grand Sphinx would surely die; I had to end the fight before he could come.
  174. “Guys, let me handle her.” I turned around and spoke boldly over Talon. “I don’t want any of you to get hurt, and since I’m sure you’ve all attacked her enough, I’ll surely be able to end the fight.”
  175. Talon swiftly turned around holding Roy’s sword tight in his hand. “You won’t do anything, got it? You’re a priest, now act like one.”
  176. “Hold up.” Bioz forcefully spun Talon around. “The last time I checked, Volz has managed to take care of more sphinxes than any of us have as a group. If Volz can take it down, then I say we let him.”
  177. Even though Talon argued against it, the group agreed that it would be best if I fought alone. I was known for my ability to fight sphinxes alone and emerge from the fight unscathed.
  178. “I’ll be back shortly, stay hidden.” I said, then I reached into my bag for my Wand of Ancient Warning. I pulled it out and held it up into the light then I raced through the trees to challenge the Grand Sphinx herself.
  179. I stood in front of the Grand Sphinx with a frown, then I took a step forward, but before I could attack, Talon charged out from the trees and struck the Grand Sphinx’s leg, causing her to tumble over. As she recovered, Talon raced back toward me, as though expecting me to allow him to fight.
  180. “Talon, get out of here!” I called as I stood in front of him, shielding him with my body, but Talon batted me aside and charged forward.
  181. “This is the job for a sword-wielder, not a priest! Stand aside.” Talon knocked me down to the ground and charged forward once more, but before he could even lift his sword, the Grand Sphinx spat at him a massive fireball, bigger than any I had ever seen.
  182. Without thought, I scrambled to my feet and rushed forward, Talon was still charging as though he could simply run through a real attack from the Grand Sphinx. Talon reached into his armor and he held up a black seal, he stopped in his place as the fireball raced forward.
  183. “Give me strength!” Talon yelled, causing a dark glow to surround him, but before the fireball could make impact, I tackled Talon, taking most of the blast in his place. The fireball continued past us and didn’t stop, it bouldered through the trees, rocks, beach, and it even raced over the water for as far as I could see. A real attack from the Grand Sphinx would leave no survivors under any circumstances.
  184. I rolled off of Talon, most of my robe burned away with skin that had made contact with the fireball. It hurt, but I stood up and took a step forward toward the sphinx before turning to Talon with a glare.
  185. “You almost got yourself killed just now, and you expect me to let you fight alongside me?” I scoffed, “stay out of my way.”
  186. Talon, confused and shaken, stood up and made his way back to the others. Once he was gone I staggered around the sphinx, avoiding fireballs and attacks from her minions, the horrid reapers, until I was on the other side of her, where the others couldn’t see me.
  187. Finally, I was alone with her, the beautiful Grand Sphinx. She was a giant, at least as tall as five or six trees stacked on top of each other. She had the body of a lion and the upper body of a woman, her chest was covered with bandages and only her giant angelic wings poked through them.
  188. She waited for me to think or say something, but I couldn’t. I crumbled to my knees from the pain of her previous attack, most of which I had kept hidden from Talon.
  189. “Well!?” I yelled, “are you going to finish me off or not?!”
  190. The Grand Sphinx looked down at me curiously, then she burst into a quiet laughter as she raised one of her giant paws to pull me close. “Heh, is that how you choose to greet me after so long?”
  191. I stood up and embraced one of her legs with a merry smile. “It has been a while…hasn’t it?”
  192.

  206. Chapter 3
  207.
  208.
  209. “Despicable human!” The Grand Sphinx snarled as she fell over, crashing onto a cluster of trees.
  210. The horrid reapers protecting her screeched loud enough to bring me to my knees, then they suddenly vanished.
  211. The group hiding behind the trees and bushes rushed to my side and all stood around me, waiting for the sphinx to fade away, as she was known to do instead of dying.
  212. “You scum,” the Grand Sphinx spat, then she shot a fireball at me with a roar.
  213. I prepared myself the best I could, but the blast raced through my defenses. The fireball shattered my wand and slammed into my chest, further burning my robe and tearing off my skin.
  214. I screamed in pain and fell down onto my side as my friends rushed to my aid.
  215. “Volz!”Bioz called as he helped me sit up, then he turned to the Grand Sphinx with a hellacious glare, his glowing dagger clenched tight in his trembling hands.
  216. The Grand Sphinx panted hard as her body glowed, “cowardly humans, you’ve defeated me…but without your dear priest…you’ll-“ She gasped for breath, “you’ll never survive my tomb.”
  217. With her challenge the Grand Sphinx faded away, leaving a glowing object in her place and a portal to her own world, the Tomb of the Ancients.
  218. The group standing around me tried to stay focused on my injury, but eventually, they raced toward what the Grand Sphinx left behind, an immensely rare item known as the Helmet of the Juggernaut.
  219. “Volz…”Bioz mumbled to me, I could sense his disappointment in the others.
  220. I smiled, “Just go.”
  221. Bioz left without a word, leaving me somewhat alone, leaning on a tree.
  222. Occasionally, the strongest gods of the realm would leave rare items behind that were soulbound, meaning they could only be picked up by the person who earned the item. Oryx made soulbound items to increase the challenge of hunting the strongest humans, but in my opinion, it was foolish. Some humans, like Rehd, already rivaled Oryx himself in strength because of the soulbound items, while others would become much stronger if they found some.
  223. Once everyone had finished trying to pick up the glowing helmet, Bioz approached me and held out a hand.
  224. “No one else can take it,” he said with a clever smile.
  225. I took Bioz hand and with his help, I limped toward the helmet. With “oohs” and “ahhs” all around, I picked up the helmet and jammed it into my bag
  226. “I think she likes you,” Bioz called as he pulled me back up to my feet, his smile still beaming.
  227. “You have no idea.”
  228. Bioz let me stand on my own once we were near the others, who all stood around the portal that the Grand Sphinx left behind.
  229. “So what do we do?” A wizard beside me asked; he looked shaken up from the recent fight.
  230. “We should go back…”
  231. “We go in.”
  232. “But Volz-“
  233. “No” I started. “Even hurt, I am still a priest. My job is to heal and keep you all alive. That’s exactly what I’ll do.”
  234. Before anyone could argue, I raced into the portal and landed in a giant chamber, where the three guardians stood, frozen like statues.
  235. I took a few steps forward to speak with the living statues, but my path was intercepted by Aria, the beautiful, golden-haired mystic of the legends and Sev.
  236. “What the hell is your problem!?” Aria yelled as the rest of the group made their way through the portal.
  237. “Uh…I-”
  238. “You what?! Want to die?” Aria started, “the last I checked, you were hit by the Grand Sphinx’s fireball, meaning you can’t heal yourself. Not only that, but you’re in so much pain that you can barely stand!”
  239. I didn’t care for Aria the way she cared for me, but I didn’t argue against her. I’d never want to see her hurt.
  240. Aria yelled at me for another few minutes before turning my discipline over to Sev, who wore the same stoic face as always.
  241. “I know you must feel bad, watching Roy die and all, but he’s dead and you’re not. Don’t be an idiot.”
  242. With that, Aria and Sev left my side and turned to the others. They made a plan to awaken the three guardians of the tomb, Nut, Geb, and Bes, then they made a plan to destroy them.
  243. Normally, I’d be on the front lines, but I was ordered to wait in the giant chamber with the guardians, the safest chamber until they were awakened.
  244. “Alright, Go!” Aria called, then with a wave goodbye, they left to explore the tomb.
  245. Once everyone was gone I turned back to the statues and took a few steps forward to meet them.
  246. The strongest of the three guardians was Geb, a giant lizardman who fought with an axe and shield.
  247. The second strongest was Bes, a golem who was nearly immortal due to his impenetrable defense.

  258. Chapter 3 continued..........
  259.
  260. The weakest, but my favorite, of the guardians was Nut, their catwoman healer who used a tome barely stronger than my own.
  261. All three of the guardians were immensely powerful and at least three times the height of a human. They could only be awakened by destroying ancient relics within the tomb…or so everyone thought.
  262. “Empower me with your divine light; let me give life to who was once alive!” I raised my tome as I whispered, causing a holy glow to surround the three guardians.
  263. In a flash of light the three guardians came to life. Geb, who hated me almost as much as Red Demon, greeted me with a scoff as usual. Bes didn’t greet me at all, but Nut did, pouncing on me with a playful growl.
  264. “Volz!” Nut whispered as she lapped the whole side of my face with her rough tongue.
  265. “Heya,” I yipped as I laid on my back, embracing the giant catwoman.
  266. Nut slowly picked herself up, then once I stood up, she knelt down. “Rehd’s not here, is he?”
  267. Even though she asked with a normal voice, I could see fear in her eyes. Most of the gods, even Oryx himself, were scared of Rehd, as he was the only legend capable of overpowering and killing a god on his own.
  268. “No, I made sure he wasn’t able to come.”
  269. It was long ago, but I remembered my last time in the tomb like it was yesterday. We, the legends, stood heavily outmatched by Nut, Geb, and Bes, but out of nowhere Rehd emerged from one of the hallways covered in blood.
  270. Wearing a smile, he single-handedly forced Geb and Bes to retreat from the fight…even with the constant heals of Nut. Once Nut’s attacker and defender had left her, Rehd charged forward and fought her until she was too weak to heal herself. After that, he cast his spell until her blood spattered the wall and floors and nothing was left except for the mutilated, naked body of a god and a magical tome.
  271. I snapped back to reality with the sound of a large crash, the sound of that signified one of the tombs precious artifacts being destroyed.
  272. “We don’t have much time.” I turned to the extremely well-endowed guardian standing before me, covered with thin bandages on her top half and a skirt on her bottom half.
  273. Nut knelt down to me and awaited my demand, which all of the gods who enjoyed my presence did.
  274. “I have a mission to complete. I need an incantation.”
  275. The giant guardians hand glowed bright, then in it, a strange-looking yellow and orange object appeared.
  276. I took the orange and yellow store object from her hand and groped it slowly, feeling each engraved symbol in the piece.
  277. Merely holding the piece, the faintly flowing artifact, brought back many memories, both painful and cheerful, from the first incantation I had ever held, to the last one I had seen, just a week ago.
  278. I placed incantation in Nut’s hand, then I nodded. Without award, she placed it into her mouth and showed it to me before swallowing it.
  279. There was a second crash.
  280. “You must be directly behind me if you don’t want to suspiciously acquire the incantation. If you aren’t around, I’ll be forced to give it to someone else.”
  281. I nodded. Regardless of what would happen, I’d end up with the incantation. Nothing would stop me from completing my mission.
  282. Nut, Geb, and Bes returned to their original positions and acted as though they were frozen. Eventually, the third artifact was broken, and alongside the loudest crash of all, came a loud roar from each of the guardians.
  283. One-by-one, my allies teleported to me, and once they were all accounted for, the fight began.
  284. We used a plan that I had devised long ago as a way to take down each guardian one-by-one. Luckily, it was the perfect plan to get the incantation from Nut.
  285. The fight was long, nut I managed to make my way behind Nut. As soon as she saw me, she signaled to the others to fall out of the fight.
  286. Bes and Geb both fell and faded away, leaving Nut alone.
  287. “Gah!” Nut roared as she spun around then staggered forward toward me.
  288. “Everyone run!” a voice called as Nut fell to one knee.
  289. As demanded, everyone backed away except for me. I faked an injury and fell to one knee.
  290. I braced myself for impact. Nut would fall on top of me, she’d spit the incantation into my hand, and I’d reveal it after we’d defeat Oryx in his castle. The plan was simple.
  291. Suddenly, Nut fell forward and there was an explosion, but somehow, I wasn’t in it.
  292. “Volz! Are you alright?” Aria rushed toward me and helped me to my feet.
  293. “Wh-what happened!?” I roared, both confused and furious at whatever someone had done to destroy my chance of flawlessly completing my mission.
  294. Aria pointed forward at Nut’s fallen body. “Bioz pushed you out of the way…but he wasn’t fast enough to escape.
  295. I limped forward and called out for Bioz, but instead of an answer from him. Nut called back, cursing me with her last breath before fading away, leaving a crushed Bioz sprawled out in her place.
  296. I fell to one knee at Bioz’s side and ripped a tome from my bag. As I flipped through the book for a spell strong enough to heal broken bones, Bioz reached up with a clenched fist and slammed an orange object onto the tome.
  297. “S-see that?” Bioz mumbled as he panted hard. “I’m a better priest than you are….”he took a deep breath, I saved your life…without even casting a spell…”
  298. I couldn’t help but smile, then burst into laughter as Bioz laid crippled on his back, wearing a smile, making jokes.
  299. “Oh Bioz.” I wiped a tear from my eye. “I’ll take this…now stand up.”
  300. “No wait!” Bioz called, then everyone in the area burst into laughter.
  301. I pocketed the incantation and healed everyone in the tomb. After that, we regrouped and left the tomb.
  302. Once we were outside, an annoyed Rehd confronted us, obviously because we entered the tomb without him.
  303. “Did Oryx find a new healer?” Rehd asked, sitting on a rock, polishing his shiny black staff.
  304. “Yeah, but we weren’t strong enough to kill her.” Aria said, taking a step forward to meet Rehd.
  305. “So you let her retreat, huh?” Rehd stood up with a dark smile. “That’s good; I want to be the one to mangle her body.”
  306. Aria frowned. “You’re a monster. They may want to eat us, but they’re gods. We’re in their realm; at the very least, we owe them respect as opponents.”
  307. “You must think they respect you back. What a waste of thought and emotion.” Rehd smirked.
  308. Aria and Rehd stared each other down for a long while until I broke them apart. Hours later, we all settled into the guild hall to discuss our latest find.
  309. Once the ten of thirteen legends with a few exceptional realmers were all seated at the guild’s giant table, I pulled the incantation from my pocket and slid it across the table to an empty chair, the one where EL, legendary necromancer used to sit.
  310. “So?” I started, waiting for the others to get the wrong idea from me sliding the incantation to the deceased EL’s seat.
  311. EL was an exceptional necromancer whose eyes spewed blue flames, he was undoubtedly the best there ever was. He matched Rehd in strength and speed, but he surpassed him thousands times over in knowledge until the very day he met his demise.
  312. I told the others that EL was killed in a solo fight against Oryx, but the lie was miles off from the truth. Only days after I killed Zor, EL figured out that the untimely deaths of his allies were all planned. He kept the fact to himself and confronted me in the god lands during one of my plans.
  313. It seemed I had been found out and he would be the one to make me pay, but instead of attacking me, he asked me a series of questions, all of which I answered honestly.
  314. Eventually, EL requested the audience of Oryx himself and he got it. Oryx had EL surrounded by every god and gave him one minute to explain why he should live.
  315. EL dropped his staff and snapped it in half by stepping on it. With that he had everyone’s absolute attention.
  316. “My name is Eldrick Leviar and I want you to use every ounce of my being to create the strongest skull for my little brother, whose power will ascend higher than mine could ever hope to.”
  317. Oryx considered EL’s request, but left it up to me to decide. I questioned EL’s true motives, but eventually I granted his request.
  318. EL stayed in Oryx’s castle and worked days on end with the gods draining his body of magic and casting spells to enchant his skull. About a week after granting his request, EL was ready, but none of the gods, not even Oryx himself, wanted to watch EL leave. Regardless, EL smiled and thanked them for their help…then he killed himself, drinking a magical elixir of god’s blood, potion of life, and various synthetic drinks that he had crafted himself.

  329. Chapter 3 continued again......
  330.
  331.
  332. Months later, EL’s body had completely deteriorated, leaving nothing but a black tainted skeleton that emitted an aura more dark and vicious than anything I had ever felt before.
  333. Eventually, we mustered up the nerve to approach EL’s terrifying black skull and use the spells he asked of us to create the magical skull. With that, we sealed away his skull, awaiting the day his little brother’s eyes hissed and spat flames darker than black.
  334. Somehow, I found myself back in reality where everyone was staring at me, most of them showed a stare of confusion while others glared.
  335. “Well?!” Of course, Talon was the first to spark. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
  336. “Nothing, I slid it too far, that’s all.” I showed no emotion, knowing it would only rile Talon even more.
  337. Zane and Zor, Roy, EL, Ander…Oryx has killed them all…and were sitting here….thinking whether we should avenge them or not.” Talon scoffed, but didn’t show any anger as he usually would.
  338. We all looked around the table at the remaining legends, priest, paladin, warrior, two rogues, mystic, huntress, archer, sorcerer, and wizard. Zor, Zane, EL, and Ander made up the remainder of the legends.
  339. Afterward, we looked at the others who trained hard to earn the title “legend.” Tera and Race wanted to follow in Zor and Zane’s footsteps as Trickster and Assassin, Sine wanted to take Ander’s place as the legendary sorcerer. EL’s little brother, who went by L, Leviair, to honor his deceased brother, would inevitably become the legendary necromancer.
  340. “So…what do we do? Is it really wise to challenge Oryx now only days after both our attacking power and defending power have been cut in almost half?” Bioz crossed his arms and closed his eyes. In addition to being one of the most skillful legends, he was one of the most logical.
  341. “At the very least, if we’re going in…we’d need a plan.” Bioz turned to Aria and I, who both nodded in conjunction.
  342. The moment there was silence, Talon made himself known once more. “It’s settled then, we make a plan and no one dies…got it?”
  343. Anytime Talon set his mind and heart on a plan, he would get his way. No one dared to challenge the will of a paladin.
  344. "Good."
  345.
  346. Chapter 3 end.

  601. Back by unpopular demand
  602. Chapter 4.
  603.
  604.
  605. “An unconquerable Cube God is my bulwark!” a deep, dark voice boomed, shaking the ground and turning the orange afternoon skies black.
  606. I shook my head and turned to Aria, who stood beside me at the highest point in the godlands, “Unconquerable and bulwark? I definitely would have used different words…”
  607. Aria turned to face me with a shy smile. “Heh, I’ll get the others. You find the cube and tell anyone you see to leave the realm.”
  608. With that, Aria vanished, leaving me alone at the top of the godland’s tundra.
  609. I sighed and obeyed my commands, leaving the godlands to look for the passport into Oryx’s castle he had summoned.
  610. Luckily, it took only a few minutes to find the giant dark blue cube terrorizing the realm. I was almost relieved to see it, once all of Oryx’s minions and Gods were defeated, he’d always summon one of three pseudo-gods to attack the realm. Once defeated, these gods would grant access into Oryx’s castle.
  611. Unlike Oryx’s real gods, the Skull Shrine, Pentaract, and Cube God were mindless engines of destruction that attacked anything and everything that moved.
  612. I raced to a safe spot behind a tree and awaited the arrival of the legends L, Tera, and Race, who didn’t waste any time in making their appearance.
  613. Once everyone was present, I took a step forward.
  614. “This is it everyone, once we take this down, we’ll have our fight with Oryx. “ I started,” If you’re fully armored and prepared, I’ll name our plan of attack, if not, leave now.”
  615. There were no voices, no complaints, and most importantly, no one to point out that I was the furthest thing from armored and prepared, wearing the tattered remains of a burned robe with no wand.
  616. “Sev and Bioz will weaken the Cube God, since their cloaks will help them penetrate the Cube’s defenses. Everyone else scout the realm and tell anyone you see to return to the Nexus. Afterward, we’ll return to this exact spot where Sev and Bioz will finish off the Cube God.
  617. With no questions, we all split up, going our separate ways to prepare for the upcoming battle with Oryx.
  618. It didn’t take long for everyone to meet back up next to where the Cube God had spawned, once we were all accounted for, I handed control of our squad to Bioz.
  619. “Ready Sev?” Bioz held out a hand to his Rogue partner who slapped his hand.
  620. “Let’s go!” Sev called, his body phased out of reality a few times before completely vanishing.
  621. “Eviscerate!” Bioz roared, then he vanished and three transparent Bioz’s appeared in his place, each one holding a glowing dagger with glowing eyes.
  622. The middle and strongest-looking Bioz rushed forward and vanished only a few feet from the giant dark blue cube, followed by his clones, then everything became silent.
  623. Suddenly, everything went black, as though the sun itself had been put out. When I could finally see, everything was still, Bioz and Sev were standing back to back in front of the Cube God, Bioz on one knee looking up at the sky while Sev stood up and looked at the ground.
  624. After a moment, time rushed forward, revealing the Cube God wasn’t the only thing affected by the twin rogue attack. Every tree and every monster leading up to the Cube God had been cut at a diagonal.
  625. The Cube God screamed with an otherworldly screech then faded away. Afterward, Bioz had returned and the skies became even darker than before.
  626. “Prepare yourselves, here we go…”
  627. “MY MINIONS HAVE FAILED ME
  628. BUT YOU SHALL NOW FEEL MY WRATH!
  629. COME MEET YOUR DOOM AT THE WALLS OF MY CASTLE!”
  630. The already blackened skies became even darker than before and red lightning twisted the skies. The ground shook terribly, tearing the trees from the ground and tossing them aside.
  631. “Here we go!” Talon roared, then everything went black.
  632. Eventually I recovered my senses and found myself in Oryx’s castle next to my allies, who struggled to recover theirs as well.
  633. Once everyone was up on their feet, Talon took charge and started a roll call.
  634. “Priest Volz!”
  635. “Here.” I frowned. I was standing right next to him.
  636. “Rogues Bioz and Sev!”
  637. “Here…”
  638. “Here!”
  639. “Archer Kale!”
  640. “Here,” Kale boosted as he raised his bow of Covert Havens.
  641. “Wizard Rehd!”
  642. “Here.”
  643. “Mystic Aria!”
  644. “Right here.” Aria stepped through the crowd to stand at my side.
  645. “L!”
  646. There was silence
  647. “L!?” Talon repeated, I could hear fear in his voice as he frantically looked about for the missing necromancer.
  648. There was silence.
  649. “He must have been teleported to the other side of the castle…” I answered Talon, turning his attention from the missing L to me.
  650. “Alone!?” Talon screamed at me as he looked to the only other who haven’t been called, Tera, the trickster, and Race, the assassin.
  651. Talon clenched his teeth and let a swear escape his mouth.
  652. “Alright, fine.” Talon growled, then he turned toward Bioz and Sev.
  653. “You two rush through the castle and destroy the stone guardians guarding Oryx’s chamber. After that, return to us and we’ll look for L together, got it!?”
  654. Bioz and Sev looked to each other, then they both vanished.
  655. With that, Talon turned to us and unsheathed Roy’s glowing sword, which he had claimed as his own. He revealed his seal and engulfed us with the dark, empowering healing light gifted to him. Afterward, he spun around and smashed through a wall that stopped up from entering the minion-infested hallways of the castle.
  656. “Nobody die!”

  667. chapter 4 continued....
  668. Small pitch-black creatures rushed from the hole in the castle wall toward us to meet their demise.
  669. Rehd and Kale slaughtered as many minions as possible with their powerful abilities while Aria and Race protected me from attacks with their own skills.
  670. We raced down the first hallway until we came to a giant black creature. It was as tall as a human and twice as armored and bulky as Talon.
  671. “I got this, get back everyone…” Talon demanded as he stepped forward, but Race and Tera each put and hand on his shoulder and pulled him back.
  672. “Nope, it’s our turn to show you what we can do.”Race said as he stepped past Talon, Tera close at his side.
  673. “Ready?” Tera called, then they sprinted forward.
  674. “Poison Prism! Eviscerate!”
  675. Tera and Race shared an eerie purple glow, then they split up.
  676. Race lobbed a few vials of silvery poison at the armored minion, poisoning and catching its attention. It growled ferociously and then charged, destroying everything in his path. As the minion raced forward Race threw his dagger high into the air.
  677. The smirking assassin bounced on the tips of his toes a few times, then raced forward. He threw his entire being into a punch that connected and managed to topple the terrifying beast.
  678. With yet another hiss, the beast fell backward, then suddenly, Tera appeared. She caught the falling dagger and tackled the minion, jamming both of the dagger into the back of its armor.
  679. Tera twisted the two daggers, then spilt then apart, nearly cutting her heavily armored for in half. Afterward, she ripped the daggers from the dead beasts back and took a place beside Race.
  680. “So?” Race huffed as he clenched the fist he threw at the minion and held it tight. “H-how was that?”
  681. Talon looked at me, then the other legends. No one else would answer, so he did.
  682. “It was a waste of energy and flashy. You could have killed yourselves, and if you call that perfect…then it wasn’t very good.”
  683. Tera turned away and Race hissed in denial. “What?!”
  684. “If Tera wouldn’t have caught your dagger, the attack wouldn’t have been strong enough to kill him. If your punch wasn’t strong enough he would have grabbed you and literally torn you apart.” Talon explained, “your technique was flashy, but that’s all. I’m sorry.”
  685. Race growled at Talon, but didn’t speak, during his silence, Talon stepped past him, and with that, the raid toward Oryx’s chamber continued.
  686. Body after body piled up behind us until we were at the gates of the chamber, a thick stone wall with minions guarding it, and hundreds of minions behind it, protecting Oryx’s chamber with their lives.
  687. “Get ready…” Talon snarled, then something happened that none of us could ever expect. All of the black, little creatures surrounding us fell to their chests with hellish screams.
  688. One-by-one, each minion faded away and galaxies of silver and black sparkles took their place.
  689. Without warning, L, with white flaming eyes, emerged from a hallway next to us. He took a place in the middle of the aimlessly floating sparkles and raised his grey and white Soul Sipton skull, his magical item that allowed him to steal the life-force of his foes.
  690. We all watched in awe as L took a deep break, sucking in every glowing particle around him, turning his white eyes black with fire.
  691. “What the hell!?” Talon roared, he rushed forward and glared deep into L’s flaming eyes.
  692. “Huh? What’s wrong?” L answered as though his black fiery eyes were a common sight.
  693. Talon grabbed L’s head and forcefully turned it inspecting his eyes closely. “When did you get so strong!?”
  694. L looked to Rehd, who trained him, then to me, who occasionally watched over his teaching, then he shrugged, as he was known to do.
  695. After a short reunion and L’s promise to tell us what happened, we turned back to the remainder of our path that led up to Oryx’s stone guardians, who Bioz and Sev had hopefully defeated.
  696. With L at our side, destroying twice as many minions as the raid and just as many as Rehd, we reached Bioz and Sev just in time to watch the final stone guardians crumble to their might.
  697. “Oh…you guys found L.” Bioz and Sev looked to each other, then to Talon, the leader of the raid.
  698. Talon looked to L then put a hand on his head and ruffled his hair. “Not exactly…”
  699. As Talon, Sev, and Bioz stood around the portal into Oryx’s chamber that the final guardian left behind, I healed the wounds of our allies. Once I was finished I stole the attention of the others by turning them to the portal.
  700. “Alright Talon you’ve gotten us this far.” Aria started. “What’s the plan of attack?”
  701. Rehd mad himself known with a scoff. “A plan of attack for such a weak, so-called god? I’ll just take his head off with my spell.”
  702. Talon looked to Aria, then he looked to Rehd. “No, you won’t…but L will.”
  703. “What…?” Rehd growled as he realized that his bloody dream of killing Oryx was over before it even started.
  704. “You saw the same thing as me.” Talon turned to L and put a hand on his shoulder. “I’m going to assign you a test to see if you’re fit to become a member of the legends guild. Are you prepared?”
  705. I shared a glance with Aria as Talon gave out his assignment, and assignment that filled the caring Aria with rage.
  706. “You expect a mere child to take on Oryx alone!?” Aria snarled, “what type of sick joke is that!?”
  707. “I can do it. I will do it.”
  708. “What!?” Aria yelled as she turned to face L.
  709. Talon smiled as he turned to Aria and L. “Remember El said that his little brother would become a stronger necromancer than he could ever hope to be…and he was the strongest. Not only that, but L’s eyes were spitting black flames just a moment ago…”
  710. Aria turned to face Talon with a glare, then she turned to the portal. “Fine.”
  711. We all traded looks around then we jumped into the portal one after another until we were all in a large circular chamber with our target, Oryx, in the middle, awaiting our presence.
  712. Talon took a step forward and put a hand on L’s shoulder. “We’ll be right behind you if anything goes wrong.”
  713. L nodded, then he turned to both Rehd and I with his most determined smile yet. Afterward, he raced forward to stand before Oryx.
  714. “Pitiful necromancer, you dare challenge the god of the realm!?” the heavily black armored Oryx took a step forward to tower tall over L, but he didn’t move or respond.
  715. “Then you shall perish…”
  716. L jumped back as Oryx raised an army of heavily armored red clones of himself only one-third of his height.
  717. “Now die!”
  718. Oryx’s clones rushed L all at once, all at once, but with a single motion, he froze them all.
  719. L raised his magical skull, and at once, all of Oryx’s clones fell to their knees. They all writhed in pain and screamed ferociously as L drained their essence, he looked almost malicious, standing about them with only his skull in his hand.
  720. Eventually, nothing was left of the clones except for their black bones and then reminder of their essence, which L wasted no time in sucking up.
  721. “Bah! I need no minions t-“
  722. Before Oryx could even finish, L raised his skull once more, freezing him. As Oryx struggled against him, L stepped forward to meet Oryx face-to-face. Without even a single word, L opened his mouth and sucked every drop of life from Oryx, turning the great god into nothing more than a pile of frail bones.
  723. I turned to face Rehd and he turned back with a sly smirk. We raced forward to meet L followed by the other legends. Just as L turned around to meet us with black flaming eyes, the ground shook and a portal appeared in the middle of the giant circular room.
  724. “You have defeated my simulacrum, but I remain safe in my wine cellar!” A deep voice called from nowhere, rattling the door-like portal and the lock carefully placed on it.
  725. Tera stepped forward to meet the locked door and turned to face Talon. “That means the real Oryx is in there, right?”
  726. I nodded as I held up the incantation I had been trusted with. “Yes, this will open the door to his wine cellar.” I pointed the stone at the door, but before I could do anything more, Talon stopped me.
  727. “Before we challenge Oryx…” Talon turned to L. “Your brother would be proud.”
  728. L’s eyes lost their flames to show tears on the edge of amber eyes.
  729. “He’d be even more proud…” Talon pulled a small sparkling emblem from his pockets and handed it to L, “Now that you’re a legend. Congratulations.”
  730. The other legends’ faces lit up as they clapped for their newly appointed partner, L, the necromancer.
  731. Congratulations were said from everyone except Race, who turned away with a scowl.
  732. “That should have been me…” Race mumbled, filling my mind with absolute darkness.
  733. Race’s jealousy would lead to his death. I’d make sure of it…

  746. Chapter 5
  747. “Wake him up.”
  748. The voice was deep and unrecognizable even though I knew it belonged to the very god who had just spent a full hour beating me senseless.
  749. There was a cascade of scalding hot water that snapped me back into reality. I stifled a whimper of pain until the waterfall had stopped, then I raised a hand only to remember that I was shackled to the wall and my tomes were nowhere to be found.
  750. “What’s wrong?” For the seventh time my captor became came into focus; I could see him stand over me with a smirk and claws covered in blood. My blood.
  751. “You don’t look so proud anymore…you’re in Oryx’s castle after all.” Red Demon smirked, maybe it’s the chains? Or maybe it’s because you’re finally being put in your place…”
  752. I growled in defiance, but Red Demon quickly grabbed me by the remainder of my tattered robe. He bashed my cheek and jammed his claws into my chest.
  753. “Human trash,” Red Demon growled, then he ripped his claws from my chest, pouring blood from my chest on my soggy, tattered, ruby red robe.
  754. “Let me go, now. I have a mission to compl-”
  755. Red Demon grabbed my head and jammed my jaw into the stone wall and then stood up, spreading his giant red wings.
  756. “Giving orders to a god, huh? I should kill you.” He fell back down to one knee and placed a sharp claw against my bare neck.
  757. I leaned forward until his claw pierced my neck and drew blood, “then do it.”
  758. Red Demon’s eyes grew wide as he looked down at my neck, at the slowly oozing blood, then he looked into my eyes with a glare.
  759. “I liked you better when you were asleep.” Red Demon raised his fist, then everything went black.
  760. Flashback<
  761. “Something’s wrong…” Bioz stepped forward into a puddle of dark wine. “Normally we’d be getting swarmed by minions…”
  762. Sev looked to Bioz and nodded, he pressed his body against one of the wine cellar’s stone walls and then jumped out into a doorway with Bioz at his side, but nothing happened.
  763. “This might be it. If Oryx is alone, I think we’ll be able to finally kill him and return to our own homes. Prepare yourselves.” Talon stepped in front of Bioz and Sev before planning the attack.
  764. “You two stay invisible and scout ahead. The rest of us will be right behind you for backup.”
  765. Bioz and Sev nodded then vanished. Completely cloaked, the two rogues led us through the dimly lit cellar, the lowest floor in Oryx’s real castle.
  766. “Stop.” A voice called, then Bioz and Sev reappeared. They looked through our group and we all did the same to find Race and Tera missing. A quiet panic overcame the group, but Bioz managed to calm everyone down.
  767. “I’ll look for Race and Tera. Sev will lead the rest of you through the cellar.” Almost instantly, everyone agreed with the plan, and then we split up.
  768. We wandered aimlessly through the maze until we found ourselves at a silver door covered with black symbols.
  769. “Sev!” Talon whispered, “I think you led us to Oryx’s tasting-chamber! Great job!”
  770. Talon was completely convinced that he had been led to the very room where Oryx personally taste-tested his wine. He was so convinced that I couldn’t help but smirk. He couldn’t have been any father from the truth.
  771. “Alright Sev, reappear. On my count we’ll charge,” Talon demanded. He was completely unaware of what had been happening since our entrance into the wine cellar.
  772. After a moment of silence, Talon dismissed Sev’s lack of a response as a clever plan that Sev was trying on his own. With that, he placed a hand on the door and started his countdown.
  773. “Three…”
  774. I could hardly contain my laughter.
  775. “Two…”
  776. Talon was completely alone. Every one of his allies had been snatched from under his nose and he never even noticed.
  777. “One…”
  778. That was it. I had won.
  779. Talon and I rushed into the room to find out allies tied up and blinded folded in the middle of the room surrounded by gods, the real gods.
  780. “Damn! Volz, let’s-“ Talon started as he spun around to face the door, but Medusa intercepted his path with a grin.
  781. “Your friend’s blood…” Medusa shut the door, cutting off our only path of escape. “Tasted…great.”
  782. Talon gritted his teeth and gripped Roy’s sword tight, but I put a hand on his shoulder. It seemed to calm him down until Medusa continued.
  783. “I remember the very look of fear in his eyes. The quivering lips that couldn’t express how scared he was…”
  784. “Shut up…” Talon took a step forward, but I pulled him back only to receive a dirty glare.
  785. Medusa shivered as he wrapped her arms around herself. “He didn’t want to die alone, but I made sure he did.”
  786. “Shut up!” Talon leapt forward, but I pulled him back once more. Afterward, he spun around and batted me aside with the hilt of his sword.
  787. I slid far backward until I was with the others, where White Demon grabbed me and bound my hands behind my back, but he left me without a blindfold.
  788. “If you want, you can meet Roy in h-“
  789. “Shut up!” Talon roared as he charged forward with his glowing sword held high. He desperately attempted to avenge his dear friend, but Medusa caught the sword and ripped it from his hands, then she grabbed him by his neck.
  790. In a swift motion, Medusa slammed Talon into the wall, then she beat Talon until he couldn’t even stand anymore. Afterward, she held him up high by his neck and revealed her glowing fangs, then she looked to me, but I shook my head. It wasn’t his time to die, not yet…
  791. “You…slimy bi-“
  792. Medusa hissed, then she tossed Talon toward us and spiked him into the ground with a fist, then she moved around the room to remove everyone’s blindfolds. Once we could all see, Oryx made his appearance with a deep, boastful laughter.
  793. Oryx boasted his victory as each of the gods took a place beside him. Meanwhile, I barely caught a glimpse of Race scooting backward to sit beside me.
  794. “Psst…hey…Volz…” He was much too quiet for anyone else to hear.
  795. I looked to him out of the corner of my eye and he showed me a dagger in his back pocket. He reached down, picked it up, then twirled it in his hands.
  796. “If I cut you loose, will you cut me loose and listen to what I have to say?”
  797. Race looked deep in my eyes for understanding and I could only look around. No one else was watching us, none of our friends, anyway.
  798. “Sure.”
  799. With a quick smile, Race untied me and I untied him, but we kept our hands hidden behind out backs. As we closely watched Oryx’s every action he explained a simple plan that he had to kill Oryx, but I didn’t show any emotion.
  800. “Please Volz,” Race pleaded, “I’m strong, I know I can do it with your help.
  801. I stayed silent for a long while as Oryx continued to boast and discuss ways to execute us. His plan was to toss a vial of poison as a distraction, then he’d nearly fistfight Oryx to death with the help of my strongest spells and constant heals. It was a simple plan that might have been successful if he had chosen others to help him and he had a trustworthy priest…
  802. “Please.”
  803. I finally smiled the most hopeful, fake smile I could come up with. “Alright. If anyone can do this…you can.”
  804. Race smiled, then he turned to face Oryx. He rose to one of his knees and prepared his poison and dagger behind his back. Little did he know, his fate was sealed.
  805. “Ready…Set…”
  806. “Die, Oryx!” Race sprung into action. He jumped over all of his allies and tossed a vial of poison as he revealed his dagger.
  807. Caught in an aerial assault Race looked to his side, then he finally noticed that he was too late to retreat. Race plowed right into Oryx’s grip and fought his best, but it was no use. The real Oryx was hundreds of times stronger than the clone that L had killed without breaking a sweat.

  818. Chapter 5 continued.......
  819. “You just couldn’t wait to die, could you?” Oryx grinned as he forcefully turned Race around so he could see me, his gracious, trustworthy, unfaltering priest.
  820. “Take one last look at your friends…” Oryx laughed, then he started to squeeze Race’s neck.
  821. Race struggled against the mighty Oryx as he desperately looked to me for help, but I showed him no emotion. Tears ran down his eyes as he grabbed at Oryx’s monstrous, armored claws.
  822. “I…” Race coughed between his tears. “I don’t want to die! Help me V-“
  823. Suddenly, there was a loud snap, then Race’s body fell limp. With that done and an uproar starting, I took my chance to help the others escape.
  824. “Race!” I roared as I stood up with a glow, making it look like I escaped my binding with sheer willpower alone.
  825. I cast a spell from memory that gave the others the strength to break free from their binds. Afterward, I took my place in front of the group to challenge Oryx.
  826. “A robeless, unarmed priest wants to challenge me?” Oryx burst into laughter once more, then he turned to the gods standing next to him. “Kill them.”
  827. The gods looked to each other before racing forward, but before a fight could start, Aria pushed me aside and held up her special weapon, a black, glowing orb from another dimension that completely immobilized her foes and with enough concentration could send them to a distant land.
  828. “Banish them!” Aria called, the she started to glow. Just in time, all of the charging gods completely froze in place.
  829. Aria turned to me and grabbed my hand, “Rehd wasn’t captured with us! We don’t stand a chance without him. We have to pick up Talon and let’s go!”
  830. Bioz and I looked to each other, then we did as we were told. We picked up Talon and with the rest of the group behind us, we raced out of the room.
  831. “Kill them!” Oryx demanded once more as we bolted down hallway after hallway looking for a path to escape.
  832. Several corridors away from Oryx’s room we found Rehd bound in chains and guarded by white demons. We hastily threw a plan together to free Rehd, but he smirked as we started to approach him.
  833. “Boom!” Rehd yelled, causing the white demons guarding him to explode into nothing more than bloody smears. With them gone, he melted the chains binding him and then the bars on the cage. Afterward, he casually stepped away from confinement to stand before us.
  834. “So…how did it go?”
  835. Talon pushed Bioz and I away so he could stand on his own. He took a step forward and grabbed Rehd by the collar of his suit, “Where…have…you…been?”
  836. Aria put a hand on Talon’s shoulder as she showed Rehd a spiteful glare. “Never mind that, we have to get out of here…but how?”
  837. We all looked to each other for answers, but Bioz seemed to outshine the rest of us. “Didn’t we combine our teleportation stones the last time we were here?”
  838. “That’s right, and it drained all of the magic out of them as well.” Kale nodded, “a small price to pay for our lives, I’m sure.”
  839. “Then let’s do it.” Sev called, he held out his stone and we all positioned ourselves around his stone in a circle.
  840. One-by-one, we held out our stones until they were all touching. They started to glow, then even our bodies imitated the stones. It was only a matter of time until we were unstoppable, we’d be able to escape unharmed.
  841. The sound of claws scratching desperately against stone and heavy huffing echoed through the chamber. I turned to find Red Demon rushing toward us.
  842. Suddenly, each of the legends became see-through and completely vanished. If he wasn’t fast enough, I’d be whisked away with the others…
  843. Bioz, Aria and I were the last ones left, each of us were only seconds away from being free until Red Demon slammed into me and tackled me to the ground.
  844. “Volz!” Bioz and Aria called as they pulled their stones apart hoping it would stop the spell, but it was too late. They slowly faded away into nothingness, leaving me alone with Red Demon.
  845. After a while, Red Demon stood up and pulled me up to my feet.
  846. “That tackle seemed pretty serious…” I called as I turned away and cracked my neck and knuckles. “Is everything alright?”
  847. “Yeah…” Red Demon answered, “or it will be…”
  848. I disregarded Red Demon’s comment as I took a step forward with a yawn. “Finally…I am home.”
  849. “Yeah…” Red Demon whispered, “finally.”
  850. Then my whole world became black.
  851. End Flashback<
  852. “Good, you’re awake.” Red Demon turned toward the giant wooden door and locked it. “I’d hate to start without you.”
  853. I jerked myself away only to rise to my knees. The chains binding me to the cold, prison walls had become shorter and much tighter than before.
  854. “Why…are you doing this?” I asked as I forced myself to look as proud and fearless as possible.
  855. Red Demon fell to one knee before me and grabbed the remains of my tattered robe.
  856. “Because.” Red Demon smashed his elbow into my cheek, then he backhanded me hard enough to make me hit my head against the stone wall. “Medusa, Nut, and The Grand Sphinx know you’re still here somehow.”
  857. It was a stupid question. Even though I could barely hear my thoughts over the sound of my own hellacious beating, I knew exactly why he was beating me senseless. I knew why he hated me.
  858. It was because I, a human, was Oryx’s second-in-command. More importantly, I was the only thing keeping him, the great Red Demon, from starting an uprising against Oryx.
  859. I was being punished for standing in his way, but he’d never kill Oryx’s second-in-command. He feared death by Oryx’s hand, because of that; I would make his life hell.
  860. I’d make him wish that he had killed me.

  872. Chapter 6
  873. “Volz…”
  874. I couldn’t feel it anymore, the pain. It was gone…and somehow, I was alive.
  875. “See that!? He’s waking up!”
  876. After being brutally beaten for an entire day, I was thrown down a flight of cold, hard, stone stairs and left to die, but I managed to cling to the world of the living.
  877. “Volz…wake up for us.”
  878. I would make Red Demon suffer. He’s pain wouldn’t end with his body; I’d tear apart the only thing that made him strong, his pride.
  879. “How long have I been out?” I slowly opened my eyes to find Medusa and Nut standing over me.
  880. “Volz!” Medusa called, picking me up from the warm stone floor to embrace me, then she passed me to Nut, who did the same before explaining everything that had happened.
  881. “Your raid on Oryx was a whole week ago. Four days later we found you mangled, unconscious, and nearly naked at the bottom of some stairs.” Nut mumbled, “The Grand Sphinx, Medusa and I decided to bring you to Medusa’s room to treat your wounds.”
  882. “I see.” I looked down to find I was covered with only a small tattered blanket, my robe was gone and the piece of wand I had been carrying around was nowhere to be found. I had been stripped of all possessions, beaten, tossed aside, and left to die.
  883. “The Grand Sphinx has been dispatched to slow your friends from gaining entrance into Oryx’s castle. If she wouldn’t have been, she’d be here at your side too.” Medusa explained as she stood behind me, embracing me tight.
  884. I knelt down and tied the blanket around my neck so it covered my body like a cloak. Afterward, I turned to Nut and Medusa then embraced them tight.
  885. “Thank you both so much.” They both stifled squeals. “Where is Oryx now?”
  886. “A meeting with the other gods, Medusa, the Grand Sphinx, and I are the other ones who aren’t there.”
  887. I turned away, “that’s perfect.”
  888. Medusa and Nut followed me out of Medusa’s warm, damp chamber and into the hallway where I made my way toward Oryx’s council room. As I neared my destination, I answered the many questions concerning where I had been since the raid.
  889. My answers were completely honest, and they inspired a deep rage within both Medusa and Nut. They swore revenge for my sake, but we all knew they wanted revenge for themselves. Even so, I wouldn’t stand in their way. They’d get their revenge, but only after I got mine…
  890. I put a hand on the giant double doors and took a step forward, but Medusa put a hand on my shoulder to stop me.
  891. “What is it?” I asked, turning to face Medusa.
  892. “Well…” Medusa wrapped her arms around herself. “Talon called me slimy…”
  893. I rolled my eyes as I place a hand firmly on Medusa’s shoulder, “you know you’re not slimy…”
  894. Medusa looked down, deep into my eyes for understanding, “but-“
  895. All of a sudden, I ripped Medusa from her position and pinned her as rough as I could against the door. Before she had a moment to think about what was happening, I put a hand on the back of her neck and the other on her well-defined hips.
  896. She only had a single second to look into my eyes before I closed then. Then I kissed her.
  897. I snaked my tongue around her fangs and grabbed her tongue. As I swept Medusa’s mouth clean of doubting words, she merely watched, confused, excited, stunned. Then without warning, I pulled away from her, leaving her out of breath.
  898. “Still think you’re slimy?”
  899. Medusa panted hard against the door, shivering uncontrollably. “N-no…”
  900. “And you?” I turned to Nut wearing the most emotionless eyes I could put on. “Do you feel slimy too?”
  901. Nut’s eyes widened even more and her ears pointed straight up. “I don’t think so, but I’ll remember that you thought about me.”
  902. I smirked then turned back to a nearly composed Medusa.
  903. “I…I’m ready.” Even though she couldn’t seem to stop shivering, she looked completely serious.
  904. With that, I placed a hand on the giant twin-doors as Medusa and Nut took places behind me. Once everything was quiet, I pushed the door open with all of my might, slamming them against the hall and turning everyone’s attention to me.
  905. Cloaked with only a tattered blanket, I caught everyone’s attention, especially Red Demon’s, who stood up out of his chair in surprise.
  906. “So you’ve decided to join us…” Oryx called to me from the front of his throne-like chair at the front of the long council table.
  907. “Apologies. I would have liked to speak with you earlier, but I spent the week bound in chains and unconscious.” I chuckled as I took a step forward to stand next to my assigned seat, which was larger than the rest.
  908. Oryx burst into laughter, “isn’t that something you should expect when laying down a god!? My gods have needs and desires far deeper than any human can satisfy.”
  909. I smirked, “with all due respect, your gods seem more than satisfied as they scream my name with every breath.”
  910. Oryx’s playful, booming laughter stopped.
  911. “No.” My smirk changed to a mere confident smile, “ever since the day of the raid, I had been captured and spent every hour bound in chains. Unfortunately for my captor, I managed to survive even after being brutally beaten for hours on end.” I explained as I made my way from my seat to stand next to Oryx.

  922. Chapter 6 continued....
  923. “I see,” Oryx crossed his arms as he looked down at me. “So, you want me to deliver punishment.”
  924. I shook my head, “no, I want your permission to deliver the punishment on my own and as I see fit.”
  925. As Oryx and I discussed the fate of my unnamed captor, Red Demon became jittery at my side. He clenched his teeth and balled his fists tight at his side, completely unaware that I was watching his every move.
  926. Suddenly, Red Demon roared as he raised a fist.
  927. “I will not stand idly by as a human dares to speak down to me, the great Red Demon!”
  928. Red Demon threw a strong punch, but Oryx himself raised a hand to effortlessly protect me.
  929. “I see…” Oryx held Red Demon’s fist tight as he held out his other hand, showing me a small box.
  930. I slowly reached up to grab the box, but Medusa snatched it before I could.
  931. “It was supposed to be a gift.” Red Demon flailed in an attempt to free himself from Oryx’s grip. “You’ve deserved this since the day I met you, but your mere presence here only proves that even more.”
  932. Medusa opened the box and revealed a giant red robe, the grand sorcerer’s robe. I could hardly believe my eyes, everyone knew of the robe, but its existence was thought to be nothing more than a myth. Somehow, I was looking right at it…
  933. Nut pulled off my cloak and Medusa replaced it with the most powerful robe to ever be dreamt of. They tied it around my waist then turned me to face Oryx.
  934. “Wear it proudly.”
  935. With that Oryx released Red Demon who jumped far back. He growled with clenched teeth and fists balled tight at his side, then even more as Nut handed me her oversized, glowing tome and took a step back with Medusa.
  936. “You…you think a simple robe and tome will be enough to change the outcome of a fight against a god!?” Red Demon bellowed as he raced forward. “I AM THE GEAT RED DEMON!”
  937. In the middle of Red Demon’s dash toward victory, I raised a hand high and cast the very spell I used to freeze Roy.
  938. Red Demon struggled his hardest, but to no avail. He could only watch in fear as I flipped through the giant tome for a familiar spell.
  939. “I’m going to make you wish that you had killed me.”
  940. I announced as I placed a glowing hand on the page of the spell I was looking for.
  941. “Now arise, my demons…” I whispered as I siphoned the entirely of my mana into my hands.
  942. I held out one of my hands, and from the ground below it, a dark clone of Bioz rose up to meet me, wearing a dark smile.
  943. The black armored clone reached into two small sheaths at his side and revealed two long, thick hooked daggers.
  944. Once I released Red Demon from my paralyzing spell, he continued forward, but my clone raced forward to meet him.
  945. Red Demon raised his claws to strike down the rouge’s clone, but before he could lower his claws, Dark Bioz leapt forward and jammed both of his knees into Red Demon’s chest, the reached over Red Demon’s shoulders to stab him in the back. Afterward, he kicked himself off of Red Demon’s chest and started a handstand using the daggers he jammed into Red Demon’s back as the ground.
  946. Bioz leaned backward until his body was arched and his feet were touching the ground, then with all of his strength, he picked up Red Demon using his hooked daggers and slammed the giant god into the ground.
  947. “Graah!” Red Demon roared as he scrambled from the floor to his feet to face me. “I’ll… devour your soul!”
  948. Red Demon turned to face Bioz with clenched teeth then he lunged forward, but Bioz grabbed one of Red Demon’s wrists and slid one foot far backward until it was behind Red Demon. Once more, Dark Bioz summoned all of the strength that I had given him and he lifted Red Demon up and smashed him into the floor.
  949. “Heh, never even stood a chance.” Bioz turned away, then he vanished, and the black mana particles that made up his being returned to my hands.
  950. I gave the heavily battle-scarred and bleeding Red Demon a moment to compose himself before preparing to summon the second clone.
  951. “I’m not so weak when I’m not in chains, now am I,” I taunted, forcing Red Demon onto his feet.
  952. “Spawn of scum! Don’t you dare talk down to me!” Red Demon quickly rose to his feet and spun around to face me.
  953. “Good.” I showed Red Demon the darkest smirk I could. You’ll need that fighting spirit for where you’re going.”
  954. I held out both of my hands and the second clone rose to meet me.
  955. “Make it rain.” My dark clone of Rehd whispered as he turned to face me, then to Medusa and Nut standing by Oryx.
  956. His mere presence terrified Nut, she froze in place, then dashed toward me and fell to her knees, embracing me tight from behind. The clone looked down to Nut, then he turned to face Red Demon.
  957. “Volz…” she whispered as she trembled so much that she even shook me with her.
  958. I put a hand on Nut’s arm with a nod as I looked to Rehd toying with his prey. “Make this quick.”
  959. “Fine.” Rehd huffed, then he held out his staff to Red Demon with a bright glow.
  960. “Annnnd….” Rehd’s bright silvery glow became dark and red, the color of blood. “Boom!”
  961. Suddenly, there was an explosion and Red Demon was caught in the center of it. Blood splattered on the wall, floor, and even the smoke from the explosion was red.
  962. “You better not have killed him,” I hissed at Rehd, who only turned to face me with a playful

  973. Chapter 6 continued...
  974. The bloody smoke eventually cleared away, revealing a Red Demon barely able to stand, let alone cover any of the spots on his body pouring blood.
  975. “H-Human…I-“ Red Demon started, then he fell onto his side. Afterward, it was my turn.
  976. I handed Nut’s tome back to her then I touched the clone of Rehd on my way toward Red Demon, taking back the mana he was made from.
  977. It would be humiliating to die here in front of the other gods, wouldn’t it?” I whispered, “but don’t worry, I don’t let you…”
  978. Red Demon looked up at me with a glare as I fell to one knee and focused the remainder of my mana into my fists causing them to hold a dim glow, then I grabbed one of his long horns and punched him in the side of the snout, spattering his blood on the wall and floors.
  979. I punched him again and again until all I could hear from him were whimpers, then I continued until there was silence and I was kneeling down in the pool of his blood. Finally, Red Demon stopped moving and the only sound I could hear was his desperately beating heart, but it wasn’t enough…I wasn’t finished…not yet.
  980. “Medusa, Nut.” I demanded their attention as I turned to face everyone. “Take Red Demon into my room, you are not to harm him.”
  981. “But Volz-“ Medusa started, but I raised a hand to silence her.
  982. “Enough! That’s an order,” I snarled. Medusa and Nut turned to each other, then to me.
  983. “Fine.”
  984. Medusa and Nut stepped past me and picked up Red Demon, then they left without a single word. Once they were gone, I turned to face Oryx, who turned to the other gods. “Our meeting is dismissed. I wish to speak to Volz privately.” Oryx called, and the other gods obeyed, leaving the two of us alone.
  985. “You went through a great deal to meet me here.” Oryx’s usually booming, hate-filled voice had died down to a mere speaking voice.
  986. “My Grand Sphinx told me about you saving Talon, about the fireball you were almost killed by. Nut told me about how you were willing to throw yourself in harm’s way for a mere incantation.” Oryx said, but I didn’t respond to him.
  987. “I want to reward you.”
  988. “Thank you.” I called as Oryx held out his hand, “but first there is a matter I’d like your permission to attend to.”
  989. Oryx eyed me before turning away, “go.”
  990. I bowed graciously as I possibly could, then I left the giant room and crept down into the lower floors of the castle.
  991. “P-please…” A voice called, then there was silence.
  992. I raced down the hallways and stopped at the edge of the door to my room. It had been left ajar, so I peeked inside to see the only sight I wanted to.
  993. Red Demon leaned against one of the corners, his wrists and wings were covered in chains. Medusa and Nut stood on each side of him with glowing eyes, taking turns with their strongest punches, each one forcing the great Red Demon to whimper and cry for mercy.
  994. “Why!?” Red Demon coughed, “what has he done…for you to fight so mercilessly for him!?”
  995. Medusa grabbed him by his neck and bashed his head into the wall, then Nut kneed him in the stomach.
  996. “Shut up!”
  997. “For what you’ve done, you deserve exactly what you’re getting!” Nut roared as she threw her strongest, magically imbued punch at him.
  998. “Please…” Red Demon cried, “I’ll do anything…just stop this…”
  999. Medusa batted him aside with a hiss, then she turned to Nut with a dark smile.
1000. “I think I liked him better when he was asleep…”
1001. I turned away with a smirk. Oryx couldn’t possibly know, but this was rewarding enough.

1089. Don't worry, there are about 6 chapters left
  1090. Chapter 8
1091. “Die!” I shouted as I grabbed a red-eyed Medusa with a glowing hand and held up her body to shield myself from a White Demon’s claw swipe
1092. The Medusa screeched in pain as the White Demon nearly tore her in half.
1093. “Not dead yet?” I hissed, then I crushed the Medusa’s windpipe in my hand before pushing her backward. As she fell, I jumped onto her head and crushed it into a bloody mess before lunging for the White Demon who had just helped me kill Medusa.
1094. I grabbed the White Demon by his neck and tripped him, forcing him onto his back on the cold tundra grounds. Afterward, I raised my head and grabbed the White Demon’s head, then I crushed it against the ground.
1095. There was an ocean of roars and I turned to face them, the hundreds of gods that had accumulated as I tore their brethren apart one-by-one. The army of gods stood before me, all enraged that I had been in their home, ruthlessly killing anything that crossed my path, but I knew they wouldn’t do anything. I knew they couldn’t.
1096. Eventually, the godly army surrounded me, but none of them dared take a step forward. Their lives were mine to take and they knew it, I could see it in each of their rage-filled eyes.
1097. “If you won’t attack…” I took a step forward, blood dripping from my garments and hands. “Then I will…”
  1098. End Flashback<
1099. Everything around me slowly began to fade away and I sighed deeply. The nightmare was finally over…soon I’d be able to kill real gods with real hands.
1100. I awoke to Medusa at one side and a naked Nut at my other side, she looked as though her clothes had been torn off. At the foot of my bed was a wasted bottle of wine and in front of the closed door was a second broken bottle. It was hard to ease myself from the bed, but when I finally did, Medusa woke up.
1101. “Volzzzz…” She murmured before laying her head back down and closing her eyes.
1102. She was drunk and apparently, Nut had drank more than usual. With the two of them incapacitated, there would be no resistance in snapping their-
1103. I shook the dark thoughts out of my head before looking around the room. Aside from where Medusa and Nut had apparently tussled over the few bottles of wine, everything was the same. The walls stained with Red Demon’s blood, the chest filled with rare and valuable items from my ventures…most importantly, the usual silence was left intact.
1104. Once more, I shook my head, but I couldn’t help from turning to Medusa and Nut, helpless, defenseless.
1105. I quietly took a step forward and put a glowing hand on Medusa’s waist before slowly moving it up her contour. She squirmed around for a moment before settling with a smile.
1106. “Wait until I’m awake,” she giggled, “it’s not as fun when I’m drunk.”
1107. Medusa gently hissed in a loving tone, she didn’t even mind as my hand rested on the back of her neck and the other on her luscious waist. It would be so easy to grab her head and tie her into a knot, but that was a problem, it would be too easy.
1108. I turned to Nut and made my way to her side. I grabbed the base of her tail and slowly felt around her body until it became clear that she was unconscious. Too easy…no, I needed a challenge. I’d come back for them later…
1109. Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in my head and I fell down to my knees and grabbed my head tight with both of my blood-stained hands. My old memories were slowly coming back, and with them, my ex-personality. I needed my memory sealed again or I’d—
1110. “Medusa, where is Oryx.” I blurted, once more, I was gone and I knew it.
1111. Medusa sprawled out in the giant bed before rolling over. “He’s…” she yawned, “probably in his counseling chamber with the other gods, love.”
1112. I turned away, “good, I’ll be back for you.”
1113. On my way out of the room I picked up a full wine bottle, with that, I was ready. Once Oryx was dead, I’d drink to the death of my friends, then to how easily I managed to kill them.
  1114. Flashback<
1115. It was days before my punishment was over, before I could leave the realm which I had been sentenced to for a whole week to fend on my own. When I was allowed back into the Nexus, I was the last thing everyone expected to see.
1116. Talia and the legends looked to me, with wide eyes. They probably expected a thankful, grateful priest with a torn robe looking for a nice warm meal, but what they saw was a monster, a priest covered with so much blood it was dripping from his fingers and robe.
1117. “Volz! You’re alright!” I remembered Talia saying, but she didn’t greet me with a smile. How could she?
1118. “I hope you learned your lesson friend, it was for your own good.” Ray called with a smirk as he held out his hand, but I stepped past him with only one thing to say.
1119. “Get out of my way.”
1120. That night, Talia told me about her new relationship with Ray, about how he made her feel better about being trapped in the Nexus to be interlocked with Oryx in a battle with no end in sight. Afterward, she took me to a cemetery with a statue and a single gravestone. It was Dark’s, and on the gravestone it was written about his selfless attempt to free us all from Oryx.
1121. I couldn’t help but scoff, which earned me a slap and a long time alone, as Talia left moments after. Dark didn’t even get to see Oryx, but I would, and on my own I would kill him.
  1122. End Flashback<
1123. I stumbled down the hallway as I barely managed to regain control of my consciousness. My old self was returning, it was inevitable.
1124. “V-Volz…” A voice called behind me and I turned to meet it.
1125. Red Demon barely managed to stand before me with a growl, but I could tell he had no intention to fight, not in his condition.
  1126. “H-Heal me…and we’ll have our real fight…I’ll…show y-”
1127. Before he could finish, I broke the bottle of wine over the side of his head and watched him fall over. Then I turned back toward the path toward Oryx’s chamber.
  1128. “I wasn’t thirsty anyway.”
  1129. Flashback<
1130. I knew that Talia told Ray about how much I had changed by how much more often he tried talking to me. He even snuck out of the Nexus at night to find out where I had been spending all of my time. When he found me in the godlands, he didn’t attempt to exile me again, instead, he commented on the technique I was using to kill gods with my hands before showing me that he could do the same.
1131. Eventually, he saw how strong I had become and how much I had changed. So he decided that I wasn’t someone he could fight and I was better suited to help him and his guild take down Oryx.
1132. The next day, I accepted an invite into his guild before leaving once more into the realm, where I was followed by Ray’s guild and Talia. We spent the full day fighting gods and minions until Oryx summoned us into his castle, where we defeated his clone.
1133. “That’s great! I think pretty soon we’ll be ready to take on the real Oryx. We’ll need to find an incantation though…” Ray looked to each member of his guild, then he looked to me. “Volz! During your week in the godlands, did you happen to find a wine cellar incantation?”
1134. I glared at Ray and channeled my being into my hands, causing them to glow with a vicious darkness. “You mean during my exile, right?”
1135. Talia raced in front of Ray to take his place, “leave him alone! Ray already apologized to you!”
1136. I turned to Talia with the glare I shot at Ray and she fell to her knees as though she had actually been attacked. Each member of Legends looked to me with their weapons in hand, but Ray calmed them down and Talia managed to assure everyone that she was safe. Later, everyone who had fought against Oryx was gone until only Talia and I were left alone with the door to Oryx’s wine cellar.
  1137. End Flashback<
1138. “Ugh…” I groaned, the memories weren’t painful, they were disgusting. I could have killed all of them if I wanted to. I should have…but if I did, then I wouldn’t have met-”
  1139. Flashback<
1140. “I said stay out of my way.” I snarled at Talia who barely managed to avoid being killed by one of Oryx’s abominations by falling to her knees.
1141. I stepped over her and continued through the maze-like cellar until I couldn’t hear anything more than Talia’s whimpers. I turned to face Talia with a hateful “shut up” prepared, but when I saw her tears, I couldn’t stand to yell at her.
  1142. “I-I-I-“ she stuttered, “I don’t want to do this anymore…I’m scared.”
1143. “Get up,” I growled in the quietest voice I could. I hated her guts, how weak she was, everything about her…but I couldn’t stand to see her cry. “If you don’t, then we’ll never get through this.”
1144. Talia took a long time to stand up and when she finally did, she leapt forward and embraced me tight.
1145. “I’m sorry, Volz…ever since Dark died, I’ve been treating you so rough…I used to blame you for it.” Talia turned away, “I’m so sorry…”
1146. I wanted to rip out her heart, but I couldn’t do anything more than embrace Talia tight as she wept softly…
  1147. End Flashback<

  1158. Chapter 8 continued
1159. “Make the memories go away…” I took a few steps forward and slammed into the council room’s door, then I pushed my way inside and fell to my knees in the presence of Oryx and all of his gods. “Make them…go away…”
1160. Oryx quickly called his meeting to a complete stop so he could amble toward me. Once he was at my side, he looked down at me with crossed arms.
1161. “Even after locking away your memories, they continue to return to you.” Oryx called over White Demon and Flying Brain before turning back to me. “Those memories must have been very traumatic for them to break though my barriers…”
1162. White Demon took a place behind me and kept me on my knees by pressing onto my shoulders and Flying Brain used a miniscule amount of its true potential to bind my hands and knees to the floor.
1163. “Hurry…” I mumbled, but they were too late.
1164. I looked up to Oryx who held out a hand to me, then I forced myself onto my feet despite the power of two gods holding me in place. Almost effortlessly, I bashed Flying Brain aside and tossed Oryx backward with a single punch, then I grabbed one of White Demon’s horns.
1165. “Which of you grabbed me first?” I held up White Demon’s head so he could look into my eyes, but he didn’t respond.
1166. “No matter, I’ll just kill you all and sort it out later…”
  1167. Flashback<
1168. Medusa dropped Talia and I in front of Oryx’s council of gods, who all turned to look to us. They seemed to shrug off Talia’s presence, but they all seemed to know who I was.
1169. “They’re alone.” Medusa said, then she took a place next to Oryx.
1170. Oryx stepped forward to meet us, and I instantly broke free of my binds to race toward him. With a single glowing hand, I knocked him into a wall, then I batted aside every god who came near.
1171. “You’re weak.” I roared as I punched Oryx in the side of his helmet, denting it and causing him to growl in pain. He finally managed to fight back against me, but he was powerless to stop me…or so I thought. Each god that Oryx kept at his side was much stronger than the gods I killed in the godlands and they had abilities I had never even dreamed possible.
1172. “While he’s down, Medusa, paralyze him!” Oryx called, and Medusa answered, she leaned over me as the others held me down with all of their might, then she bit me and I lost all of the feeling in my body.
1173. Once they were finally able to kill me, they tossed be back to Talia’s side for Oryx to examine. He looked over Talia and labeled her as unworthy of being even a slave and ordered her to be killed, then he looked to me, deep into my eyes.
1174. “Volz! Help!” Talia screamed as White Demon dragged her away, but I couldn’t care less. If Oryx didn’t kill me now, I’d make his black skin my armor.
1175. “You’re strange for a human.” Oryx glared deep into my eyes as I glared into his, then he gently placed one of his giant hands onto my head. “Let’s see how you fare without these…”
1176. There was a bright white light, and then everything became black. Oryx pulled his hand away from my face and turned me to a screaming, crying Talia.
1177. “Wait!” I called from the floor, still unable to move, “don’t kill her! I’ll do anything!” I yelled, changing Oryx’s expression from unimpressed to surprised.
1178. He picked me back up and looked deep into my eyes before tossing me before Medusa. “Take Volz to the dungeon.”
  1179. “And the girl?”
1180. “Her too, we might need her. Oh…and bring the priest something to read.”
  1181. End Flashback<
1182. I held up Oryx by one of his horns and punched him in the face until he was boiling with rage and fought back with all of his might.
1183. “Do you regret making me this strong? I don’t even need a tome to kill you now, and it’s all thanks to this robe.”
1184. Oryx growled as he tackled me to the ground and jammed his hand onto my face. He started to lock away my memories, but I grabbed his wrist and slowly pulled his hand off of me.
1185. “Just how strong do you think you are?” I grinned as I easily overpowered Oryx and tossed him off of me. “It’s a shame, you’re going to be dead before all of the legends you wanted me to kill. If you’re lucky, you’ll see them in damnation.”
  1186. Flashback<
1187. I had been locked in the small dungeon for a full day and I was starting to lose my mind. I was terrified and confused, what was going to happen to me? How did Oryx know my name?
1188. Most importantly, my memories were eating away at me, everything I had said, everything I had done…all of the gods I had mercilessly and brutally murdered with my own two hands. It was too much to bare…
1189. “Let us out!” I finally screamed, then I rushed to the door and banged on it my hardest. Eventually the door unlocked, and Medusa answered it. As she entered the room, I stepped backward.
1190. “What do you want?” Her voice was as cold as ice, but her eyes were heartwarming. I had a chance, I just knew it.
1191. “I want to go home, please…let us go.”
1192. Medusa looked at me with a strange stare, then she sighed. “I want to, I really do…but we need you.” She started to turn away, but I grabbed one of her arms and forcefully spun her around.
1193. “Then let Talia go. If you need me, then I promise, I won’t resist your orders or command. I’ll do anything you want…just let Talia go…”
1194. Medusa turned away, but I pleaded with all of my heart, and by the third time, she couldn’t ignore me any longer. She left with Talia and returned a few minutes later for me. She confirmed for me that Talia had been released back into the Nexus, but my fate wouldn’t be the same. She brought me to Oryx, who was sitting in his throne next to Red Demon, Nut, and Geb; the rest of the gods were gone.
1195. “What is the meaning of this?” Oryx asked, but Medusa pushed me forward to face him directly.
1196. “He gave his word to us.”
1197. Oryx turned to Geb and Nut, before turning back to Medusa and me; he opened his mouth to speak, but Red Demon dashed forward before he could with raised claws. I turned away with clenched teeth, but there was nothing…
1198. “Get out of my way!” Red Demon roared, turning me to face him.
1199. Medusa hissed back as she held Red Demon back with a single claw-equipped hand. She tossed him backward, but before they could fight, Oryx made his way between the two of them.
  1200. “Let them fight.”
1201. Medusa turned to me with the strangest, most compassionate and understanding eyes I had ever seen, then she stepped aside with Oryx, freeing Red Demon from her grip.
1202. “What do you know,” Red Demon started with a smirk, “I’ll get to finish what I started.”
  1203. End Flashback<
1204. “Urgh…” I fell to my knees and put both hands on my head, I could remember everything I had done and thought. It was all painful, too painful to remember…
  1205. Flashback<
1206. One-by-one I took each member of the Legends guild to the godlands where I used the help of the real gods to mercilessly slaughter them. Once Ray realized what was happening, he started to invite more members into the guild, but pretty soon it would be too late.
1207. It took only a week until the only members of the old Legends guild were Ray and Talia. They held a small meeting to discuss what was happening and how the legends were being picked off so easily. Luckily for me, their impatience would be their downfall.
1208. For the safety of the guild and the Nexus, Ray, Talia, and I closed the portal into the realm and we ventured into the godlands alone, where I would make sure they would never return.
1209. “Come on, stay close.” Ray whispered as we snuck through the godlands, completely undisturbed by the hundreds of god clones around us. As we crept through the black terrain, I could only think about one thing, what Oryx had told me.
1210. He told me that the gods, minus Red Demon, never initiated fights with the humans, that it was the humans who declared war. I thought it was impossible, but it was true, and Ray’s peaceful existence in the godlands was proof of it. Ray knew he’d never be attacked if he didn’t start the fight…so he boastfully stomped through the godlands knowing it was his intention to come back later and kill at his leisure.
1211. “It’s this way.” I finally spoke up with fists balled tight at my side.
1212. Ray and Talia looked to me curiously, but I turned away and started down my path to their destruction. Whether it was truly my destiny to help Oryx, as he said it was, I had made my decision. These two deserved to die, and I would be the one to kill them.
1213. I led the duo to the place where Dark had his life taken away right before my very eyes. Ray and Talia stopped behind me, but I continued forward and fell to one knee to look down into the lava.
1214. “Volz…what are you doing?” Talia called just as I stood up and spun to face her, pulling Dark’s final weapon from my cloak as I did.

  1225. Chapter 8 continued
1226. Talia gasped and took a step forward as she reached out for the weapon, the only thing left of her old friend. Even Ray couldn’t keep her away, but once she got too close, I ripped her hand from the air and stepped aside as I pulled her toward the pool of lava just behind me.
  1227. “Talia!”
  1228. “Ray!”
1229. Just before Talia fell into the lava, Red Demon rose from his fiery pit and snatched her up into the air with a roar. Ray raced forward to save his screaming damsel in distress, but I blocked his path with glowing hands.
1230. “What are you doing!?” Ray snarled as he raised his own two glowing fists, but I didn’t respond.
1231. “If you’ve chosen to side with them, then you’ve chosen to die. You’re no match for me.”
1232. Ray raced forward and started the fight with a swift jab, but I blocked it and threw a jab my own, one much stronger than his. He staggered backward from the force, then he revealed his green tome.
1233. “Trinity.” Ray announced as he held up a hand and quickly healed his injury. Just as soon as he was finished, our fight started again.
1234. I took a swift step forward and threw a punch at Ray with all of my might, but he dodged it and countered, but attack barely missed.
1235. “If you think you can kill me, then you’re sorely mistaken. My ability to heal myself is infinite; my strength is far greater than yours!” Ray boasted, but I quickly silenced him with a silvery jab to his stomach.
1236. As Ray rose to his feet, I prepared one of the attacks I had learned over the small time I spent with Oryx and his gods. I forced the darkest mana into my hand, turning the aura around them black. Ray, unaware of my technique, took the chance to throw his strongest punch, but I grabbed his wrist and jabbed his arms and chest time after time until he couldn’t stand anymore.
1237. “T-Trinity…” Ray called as he raised one of his hands, but nothing happened.
1238. He repeated himself several times, each time becoming more desperate until he couldn’t yell any louder. Eventually, he shut himself up long enough for me to turn away and explain what I had done.
1239. “You limit yourself to mastering the ability to heal, while a real priest knows how to tear a body apart as well as fix one.”
1240. I stopped in front of Red Demon and took Talia from him by her neck. She looked deep into my eyes as I positioned her above the pit of lava.
1241. “Volz…don’t do this…” She cried, but I couldn’t care any less for her pleas for help.
1242. “Say “hi” to Dark for me.” Then I slammed her into the pool of lava. There was a sharp scream for a single moment, then silence…
1243. I pulled my hand from the lava and turned to face Ray, now it was his turn. He struggled to stand up, but he barely attempted to resist me as I pulled him toward Red Demon’s lava fissure.
1244. “What type of priest heals his friends just so he can kill them later?” Ray asked, I could see in his eyes that he had come to terms with his unavoidable death.
  1245. “An anti-priest.”
  1246. End Flashback<
1247. I slowly picked myself up from Oryx’s body and fell to my knees beside him, his blood on my fist, face, and the ground around me.
  1248. “Hurry…please…” I whispered, I didn’t want to remember anymore…
1249. Oryx rose to his feet with a growl, then he grabbed my head tight and with a white glow he channeled all of his strength into his hand.
1250. “I’ll…seal away your memories once more, but be careful where you let your mind wander. The next time, your memories might return and never go away…”

  1262. Short chapter here
  1263. Chapter 9
  1264. “Volz!”
1265. I stumbled into my room directly into Medusa, who cuddled me tight and pulled me onto my bed next to Nut, who slept peacefully at the edge of my bed, wrapped in covers.
1266. Medusa helped me to my bed where I fell down face first and rolled over to meet Oryx, who followed me all the way from his counseling chamber to my bedroom. His appearance seemed to startle Medusa, but he didn’t seem to mind her or the naked Nut in bed with me.
1267. “O-Oryx!” Medusa called as she stood up straight, but Oryx raised a hand, allowing her to rest at peace.
1268. The black armored god stomped forward to meet me before grabbing me by my shirt and forcing me up onto my feet.
1269. “You’ve caused quite a commotion.” Oryx huffed, “the others will question my strength, thinking you were a match for me…when what happened couldn’t be any farther from the truth.”
  1270. I didn’t respond.
1271. “You’ll be returned to the realm near the portal into the Nexus tomorrow at sunrise. So you had better enjoy the rest of the day.”
1272. With that, Oryx turned away and closed the door behind him, leaving me with Medusa and the shadows of the terrible things I had said and done. I sat down on my bed without a single word to say, but Medusa’s eyes were full of questions.
1273. “What was that about?” She asked, but once more, I didn’t respond. I didn’t have anything to say, or anything I wanted to say, at least.
1274. Medusa wrapped her tail around my feet and her arms around my chest, “if something happened between you and Oryx, you can tell me. I may not be as free-willed as you humans, but I know who I-”
1275. I looked up into Medusa’s sapphire eyes and she looked down into my own eyes, which I was sure had become deadened, bleak, and grey. We both shared a long awkward stare, then a shy smile before I decided it was time for me to tell her who I really was. After all, the worst she could do is bite and kill me.
1276. It took only a few moment for me to muster up the courage, but after I had and I was sure that Nut was still asleep, I went through the slow painful process of explaining my past and how Oryx sealed away whatever made me…inhuman. Then I built up until just a few moments ago, meticulously explaining how I woke up as a different person and almost ruthlessly slaughtered both her and Nut.
1277. Before I could explain what happened between Oryx and me, she grabbed the back of my head and pulled me forward. She was faster than I was, and hundreds of times stronger, the only thing I could do was let my mind race as she kissed me deeply.
1278. I almost killed her, ripped off her head with my bare hands, and instead of poisoning me with her dagger-like fangs, she kissed me, deeply, passionately, with her moans echoing throughout my chamber.
  1279. “Unnh…V-Volz…”
1280. Medusa squirmed against me, her moans becoming louder and desperate with her excitement. She scratched my tongue with one of her fangs, making my world spin with her poison.
1281. I growled for my strength to return to me and it did, but only long enough for me to pull away from the best kiss of my life.
  1282. “I…don’t understand…” I took a moment to catch my breath, “I tried to kill you…”
1283. “But you didn’t...and that’s what I care about.” Medusa kissed me again and pinned me down onto the bed before grabbing my shoulder tight.
  1284. “Don’t resist the poison…if you do…I…might…”
1285. I finally kissed Medusa back, just as passionately as she kissed me. A long time ago, at the first sign of Medusa’s attraction to me, Oryx warned me about getting along too well with his gods, but none of that mattered now, not with Medusa’s warm, scaly body pressed against my own, not with everything so much more bright and vivid than before…
1286. One thing led to another and hours later I was lying next to Medusa with cuts and scars that her claws and fangs had left on me in her overzealousness. She looked up at me with a smile, and I smiled back, everything was perfect except for Nut growling at me from the floor beside the bed.
1287. “You’re not going to do that forever are you?” I mumbled, “I told you I was sorry…”
1288. Nut rose from the floor and glared down at me before sitting down at the edge of the bed.
1289. “You kicked me off of the bed,” she hissed. “You’re lucky I was too drunk to do anything about it.”
1290. Medusa and I looked to each other for a moment, then I burst into laughter, “you don’t think I’d ever do something like that on purpose do you?”
1291. I snatched Nut’s tail from behind her and tugged it tight enough to get her attention. She turned around with a ferocious snarl, but I continued to smile confidently at her.
1292. “Come on, you don’t really think I’d kick you out of bed with me, do you?”
1293. Nut’s growling stopped, and her glare slowly turned into a shy, embarrassed smile, then she laid down next to me.
1294. “Fine, I’ll forgive you this time,” she purred, “just remind me never to drink again…”
1295. I wrapped an arm around Nut and pulled her close to me, a day relaxing with my two favorite gods. Even if it was a whole day of sleeping, I would be satisfied. Just as I finally found myself in a good mood, my door flew open and Red Demon bolted inside, filling the room with echoes of his huffs and snarls.
1296. “Volz!” Red Demon roared, then he slammed the door behind himself and slammed his fists on my bed. “I will NOT be humiliated by a mere human,” he huffed. “Heal my wounds and I’ll show you who’s superior!”
1297. Medusa and Nut were ready to fight, but I couldn’t have been any farther from willing. I showed Red Demon no emotion as I calmed Medusa and Nut down and put on my robe. Afterward, I faced him directly with a smirk.
1298. “You had me chained up and beaten, and you want me to heal you so we can fight again? Just how stupid do you think I am?”
1299. Red Demon growled louder than before, then he fell to one knee and grabbed an injured side tight. All of the injuries he had endured since the day I got my revenge on him were still visible and none of them had healed. It would be too easy to heal him just to nearly kill him in front of Oryx during a “fair” fight. I needed to do something disrespectful and humiliating to him, I wanted him to remember me…and I knew exactly what I’d do.

  1310. Chapter 9 continued
1311. “Grah!” Red Demon roared as he rushed forward and raised his fist to me, calling Medusa and Nut to attention, but I raised my hands, playfully submitting to his anger.
1312. “I want everything back that you took from me, my potions, the weapons and armor I’ve collected, my tomes, and I want it all now.”
1313. Red Demon glared into my eyes and balled a fight tight, but he eventually submit with a growl, “fine. After Oryx’s meeting…I’ll return your-“
1314. “No!” I hissed. “You’ll return it all now. As for Oryx’s meeting, I’ll tell him that you’ll be a little late.”
1315. “…fine…” Red Demon huffed, then he turned away and slammed the door behind him.
1316. Once he was gone, I turned to a giant chest in the corner of my room; I knelt down before it and religiously opened it, revealing the wealth I had gained from my adventures. From the rarest cloaks to the strongest swords, I had almost everything and in multiples…the only thing I seemed to be missing was a few of the rarest items, including the Shield of Ogmur that Red Demon took away from me and any spare wands. It seemed that I would be weaponless for a time…
1317. I stood up and turned to face Medusa and Nut, as I tightened my robe. After a long sigh, I took a step forward and embraced them both. I didn’t whisper a single word, but they both knew what I was going to say.
1318. “He said you could stay until tomorrow morning…so why are you leaving now?” Medusa asked, embracing me back deeply, but I didn’t have an answer.
1319. “Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon, you know I will.” I backed away with a smile as I tightened my robe once more.
1320. I left the room and my two favorite gods followed me outside, almost instantly spinning me around in near confusion.
1321. “Continue,” Nut pushed me forward. “We’ll see you off.”
1322. I nodded and turned back, it was only a week ago that I had raided Oryx’s castle and been attacked in front of my “friends.” I almost couldn’t contain my curiosity, what would they say as I walk through the Nexus, more importantly, what would I say back?
1323. It wasn’t long before I found myself at the door to Oryx’s chamber, where the other gods met with him for an important meeting. I took a deep breath, then I pushed the double doors open and confidently stepped inside.
1324. Each god turned in their chairs to face me, then finally Oryx turned to me, he looked almost annoyed that I was the one who had interrupted the meeting.
1325. “Volz…” Oryx growled, “what is it?”
1326. “With my reckless behavior, I challenged my one and only master. I wish to return to the Nexus; I deserve not the right to live in your humble home.” I bowed graciously and hoped that Oryx would understand what I was doing, and he did, answering me with an explosive laugh.
1327. “You think your flailing is considered a challenge? Don’t make me laugh!” Oryx burst into laughter once more and I looked away with a groan. “But if that is your wish, I’ll be happy to grant it.”
1328. Oryx snapped his fingers and the ground under me crumbled in on itself revealing a glowing portal. I yelped as I fell down into the portal, but before I could fall too far, I reached out and grabbed a piece of the stone floor that remained intact.
1329. “Ugh…” I groaned as I climbed out of the portal and rose to my feet, “not yet…”
1330. Oryx huffed as I delayed his meeting for another few minutes until Red Demon finally made his appearance; he dropped the three bags of everything I had collected since my last meeting with Oryx and stood over me with a growl.
1331. “Now hold up your end of the bargain, human…”
1332. I took my time in grabbing each over-filled bag and tying them to by waist, then I held up a hand toward Red Demon. He closed his eyes as I channeled white mana into my hands, but at the last minute I loaded my palm with black mana and covered him in my dark aura.
1333. “W-wha!?” Red Demon started, then he grabbed his chest and crumbled to his knees. His eyes were filled with pain and hate, finally, he knew the feeling of being betrayed, and I’d make sure he felt it every day for the remainder of his life…or at least until Oryx beat me into submission for my treachery.
1334. I ripped my hand away and stood over the great Red Demon covered by a black aura.
1335. “What…did you do to me!?” Red Demon panted, he held his chest and grunted ferociously. “You promised to heal me!”
1336. “Heh…” I whispered as I turned toward the hole in the floor. “A skillful priest knows more than just how to heal. The spell I cast on you healed your wounds, but you will remain to look as though you had been attacked by every warrior in the Nexus. More importantly, until I say otherwise or Nut figures out how to break my spell, you’ll forever feel like you’re still taking the beating from our fight and the night afterward.”
1337. “You disgusting insect!” Red Demon roared as he writhed behind me in pain, but I couldn’t afford to pay him any mind. I had “friends” to meet.
  1338. Chapter 9 end.

1348. Again please take note that these aren't my work. I'm just re-posting this because I thought it was such a great story and well, for the nostalgia of the wildshadow days.

1530. Thanks, but honestly, if I were to keep going I wouldn't know where to begin.
1531. I still know how the story ends, but the reason that I stopped writing was because school was getting serious and I was just about dedicated to quitting after Kabam took over, which I did for quite some time. It would be so much different if the game was like it was before with less events and dungeons, but...yeah... =/
  1532.
1533. Sorry everyone! But I don't think any of you know how happy I am seeing that this got so much support and is still highly anticipated. I wish I would have finished it.

1710. Thanks a ton, I'm VERY proud to say that I've gotten a LOT better since writing this. That's not to say this was bad, but I've been working really hard at improving. Writing is my passion ^_^

1713. Sorry man, but I can kinda tell you where it goes, or how it ends, rather. There's a lot to the story that's unanswered and completely unexplained (like the contents of Volz's tomes) and to be truthful, I don't remember all the details, though this WAS supposed to end up being roughly 32 chapters or so. With that said, as long as I'm credited, I have no problems with anyone taking what I've written, editing it to their liking, and continuing my story
