PRP: The Chain: Intro

The journey out onto and through All Saints Bay is quiet and uneventful. TOO quiet, TOO uneventful, perhaps, given recent events. The moon is waning crescent, and she barely peeks through the many clouds that litter the night sky like a blanket descending upon the sea. The sea is fairly calm tonight, at least there was that much to be thankful for.

Danny has a bundle of charts, and  a few mostly handheld navigational instruments out. The maoshan appears intensely focused on whatever readings he observes.

"We'll have to break the mystical defenses they've erected, first. I will deal with that particular obstacle, else having the rest of you along will be in vain, as the wards versus kin-jin are rather effective." Danny pauses, gaze narrowing as he moves away from the more scientific instruments, and towards a bundle of yarrow stalks, which he will then cast upon the table. Eyes scan the results intently, and then he reaches for his bandana mask and slips it on, tying it behind his head.

"Once the wards are down, there will be bakemono. They'll come at us on ships. I leave that little obstacle to all of you. Their goal will be to keep us busy, keep us engaged for what else is yet to come." Danny's silver eyes go back to the yarrow stalks. "For /who/ else is yet to come. The final line of defense. It is important to me that I be allowed to deal with the third and final obstacle before making landfall on the island. No matter what happens as I deal with her, you must press on, or it will all have been for nothing." Her?

"The war-wu will be composed of five. Any less, and you've missed some. Any more? And you're being deceived." Danny pauses and casts his robe aside, leaving him bare chested, in loose pants and slippers, the mask of his office being the only other garment remaining upon his person.
