  1. HARPOONED CONDITION - rulings overview
  2.
  3. ----
  4.
  5. Q. If a ship has multiple Harpooned condition cards assigned to it and performs the action listed on the card, does performing that action once discard all of the Harpooned condition cards?
  6.
  7. A. No. They must be cleared individually.
  8.
  9. Q. When a ship which has the Harpooned condition assigned to it is destroyed by an attacker of the same pilot skill and initiative, when is the defender considered “destroyed”?
  10.
  11. A. A ship is destroyed when the number of damage cards dealt to that ship meets or exceeds its hull value. References in the FAQ on page 24 supersede the Rules Reference Guide.
  12.
  13. Q. In the previous scenario, if an additional ship of the same pilot skill also controlled by the attacker attacks and hits the destroyed ship and there is at least 1 uncanceled [crit] result, does that attack trigger the first portion of the Harpooned condition?
  14.
  15. A. Yes. Each other ship at Range 1 of the destroyed ship suffers 1 damage, then the condition card is discarded and 1 facedown Damage card is received by the destroyed ship.
  16.
  17. Q. In what step of the Timing Chart for Performing an attack is the Harpooned Condition assigned?
  18.
  19. A. Step 8, when other “after attacking” abilities that do not perform an attack take place. Note that as Step 7 of the timing chart is when a ship is “destroyed”. Therefore, if a ship already has a Harpooned condition and is hit by an attack, the condition card is discarded prior to checking if the ship is destroyed. If a ship is attacked by a Harpoon Missile which successfully hits and deals enough damage to destroy the defender, it is destroyed (step 7), then assigned the Harpooned condition (step 😎.
  20.
  21. Q. When a ship which has the Harpooned condition assigned to it is attacked by a Twin Laser Turret and one of the attacks hits with at least one [crit] result showing, is the Harpooned condition checked before or after the “Each time this attack hits, the defender suffers 1 damage. Then cancel all dice results” portion of the Twin Laser Turret card text?
  22.
  23. A. Both have the same timing window (when the defending ship is hit, in step 6 of the attack timing chart). Since Harpooned is a condition “assigned” to a ship, the player controlling that ship would be the one to resolve triggering its effect, whereas the attacker would resolve the Twin Laser Turret effects (including the canceling of dice). Per page 23 of the FAQ (version 4.4.0), “The player with initiative resolves all abilities he would like to resolve, then the other player resolves all abilities he would like to resolve.” Therefore, initiative would determine the order in which these triggers are resolved.
  24.
  25. Reminder: Cards such as Prince Xizor or Draw Their Fire do not trigger until step 7 of the timing chart, by which time the first paragraph of the text on the Harpooned condition card would have triggered (in step 6).
  26.
  27. QUESTION: Thweek wants to shadow Quickdraw who has adaptability. Does Thweek deploy at PS4, PS8, PS9 or PS10?
  28.
  29. ANSWER: Adaptability FAQ entry: “Ships equipped with Adaptability do not alter their pilot skill until they are placed in the play area during Setup. For example, a Green Squadron Pilot equipped with Adaptability would be placed in the play area during setup at pilot skill 3. As soon as it is placed, it may choose to raise its pilot skill to 4 or lower it to 2.”
  30.
  31. Shadowed says “’Thweek’ is treated as having the pilot skill value you had after setup phase.”
  32.
  33. Since the adjustment for Adaptability happens “during” setup, and Shadowed applies to the pilot skill “after” setup, Thweek would be treated as having the post-Adaptability pilot skill. However, Thweek chooses the Shadowed condition in this case during setup before the place forces step (before any ship is placed). So in theory, Quickdraw could screw with Thweek and give it PS8 if there was some perceived advantage to doing so or just wanted to be indignant like that.
  34.
  35. Anyway, you cannot treat Thweek as having a PS other than 4 until there is reason to, and Shadowed does not give you a reason to until after setup, so it gets placed at PS4.
  36. Docked ships (and their equipped Upgrade cards) are placed to the side of the play area, and are considered to be inactive for all purposes (they are not assigned dials in the Planning phase, they cannot attack, be attacked, perform actions, be assigned tokens, be target locked, etc.).
  37.
  38. Before setup, the docked ship is considered inactive and set to the side of the play area. Thweek happens during setup. Therefore, in reference to the docked ship, Thweek does not have a ship to Mimick at the timing of Thweek's ability triggering.
  39.
  40. Thweek(a) cannot Thweek(a) another Thweek(b) and get the ability from the Thweek(b) on Thweek(a)... as its the condition that assigns the ability, not the pilot card. The pilot card will always read 'apply the condition' and it is the condition that gives the ability.
  41.
  42. Based on when his ability clicks in ( step 8 ) and that being after both TLT attacks... my best read is Viktor Hel has rolled 4 dice defending against a TLT under normal circumstances (no obstacles, no Agility-altering crits or abilities). We don't really have other examples like this in the game to my recollection... but that's how I would interpret it RAW.
  43.
  44. Only time I can think of where stress would happen twice would be a BTL-A4 Y-Wing attacking at range 3.
  45.
  46. When Barrel Rolling with a StarViper equipped with a MkII title, both direction and orientation must be declared before attempting the Barrel Roll. If you cannot perform the Barrel Roll with the attempted direction and orientation you are not forced to Barrel Roll the same direction with the opposite orientation.
