- Hi K-
- Are you able to send the tape back? It clearly seems as though this
- project is not a priority for you and I
- would like to have it done by someone else. It really shouldn't take
- over 2 months to digitize a single
- tape.
- And to be honest, the bigger issue here has been the near complete
- lack of communication from your side.
- Completely ignoring emails unless I post on the forum and complain.
- The address to send the tape back to is:
- <redacted>
- Please respond at your earliest convenience, thank you for your
- time.

- Hi J,
- Family health emergencies in recent weeks (not COVID), delayed responses.
- So just the one tape for now?
- Sent to:
- <REDACTED>
- NOTE: Due to COVID, again, working from the home studio. All communication needs to be via email. (A while
- back, somebody got impatient, dug around online hunting for phone numbers, called several in early morning
- hours, eventually got ours, woke up family, not happy, not appropriate.)
- Thanks,

- Subject: digitalFAQ.com Question
- Greetings-
- I am inquiring about using your services to transfer some VHS tapes to digital format. Here is the
- information requested from your Contact Us Page:
- - What type of video do you need work done on? (Example: VHS tapes)
- VHS Tape(s) converted to h.264.
- - How many videos are in the project? (Example: 2 tapes)
- I would like to send in one example tape, see the result, and then decide if I would like to have
- your
- company proceed with the rest of the tapes. If I decide to proceed, I think the project could
- consist of
- dozens more tapes (I still need to go through and catalogue what needs to be transferred, so this
- number is
- still not final).
- - What is the running time of the videos? (Example: 3 hours, 45 minutes) Give your best guess if
- you're
- not entirely sure.
- As far as the the first tape I would like to have you do, I believe it is about 90 minutes long. The
- rest of the tapes (that would potentially be coming later, I still need to catalogue like I said)
- are
- unknown at this time.
- - If you need the audio or video restored, describe the errors you see or hear to the best of your
- ability (tech terms not required).
- The example tape I am sending was recorded in 1984, and as expected has deteriorated over time
- (which
- is why I am trying to archive it). There is some blown out areas (like outside where it is very
- bright),
- some "curvyness" to the image, and color correction that needs to be down (often times there is a
- green hue
- everywhere). Part of this may have to do to the fact I was looking at it on an old crappy consumer
- VCR with
- a cheap video capture device. I have attached a screenshot of the video. I suspect your equipment
- and
- workflow is much better. I'm not expecting miracles here, but I'm sure whatever you do is much
- better than
- what I could coble together.
- - You must give your budget. We want your business, and we'll let you know what services can fit
- into
- your available price range.
- The short answer to this is that I am willing to pay whatever it takes to get as good copies of
- these
- tapes as possible. You mention pricing starting around $30-$40 per video and that it depends on each
- tape
- and I think this is a fair starting point. I'm sure we can work something out.
- Please let me know how I can send you the tape, any questions you may have, and what the next steps
- are.
- Hopefully this is only the first of many tapes I can send you. Thank you.
- Looking forward to your response.
- Regards,
- J E
