  1. Backstories in Progress
  2.
  3. A much younger Cinder used to help her father in the smithy. Her mother had died shortly after giving birth to her.
  4. As she grew older, she fell in love. Her father didn't agree with her choice of mate. He was not a kirin.
  5. Cinder eloped with him anyway. They built a life together, enjoyed happiness, began to think about starting a family. This was a short period of time, perhaps as short as 6 months.
  6. There was an incident soon after. A marauding mercenary group, associated with the supposedly "friendly" army, razed their home and killed her husband.
  7. Having lost *him* and their home together, and too embarrassed to go home, Cinder fell in with a group of wanderers. Cinder took up adventuring on a drunken dare, turned out pretty good and has been at it ever since. It has been about three years. She dreams of raising enough capital to head home and save her father's business, despite their total lack of contact since disappearing years ago.
  8. Cinder met Solar Flair. They weren't immediate friends, but have ran a few jobs together and know each other enough to have built up trust.

  17. Communion was raised in a rural setting by an old druidic priestess. This magnificent lady was a font of knowledge and kindness, and had a special relationship with many of the spirits of the forest. She lived all alone in the woods by herself, until she took on a pupil. So Communion grew up learning about the Aos Si and the many rituals you have to complete to appease them. Her grandmotherly teacher was her only family. She learned about herbs, songs, all the different names of all the forest sprites and what kinds of gifts to give them to keep them happy. She developed an instinctual connection with nature in these formative years.
  18. She became a young woman and was sent to another, more powerful druid to learn. He was much less interested in traipsing about the woods and more interested in memorizing the contents of dusty old tomes and the practice of thinking about nothing, which Communion never managed to quite wrap her mind around. Needless to say, she quarrels with her new teacher and he casts her out into the world.
  19. Too afraid and ashamed to go back to her old home, she wanders aimlessly until found by a missionary of the cult of Celestia.
  20. She is taken in by the church, which is actually just somepony's home. She spends a few months learning about the ideals of the religion, and decides to partake in the Great Pilgrimage of St Orore.
