Trollish Money

# Internationally Accepted Currency in Crescentia

In Crescentia there are three forms of payment that are accepted all around the world.

The first is goods, either raw or manufactured, excluding anything beasts and people,  but including things that currency is made from like gold.

The second is labour, the amount of which being determined by the price of whatever it is that you're trying to sell.

The third and final form of internationally accepted payment is Trollish money. The units of which are as follows, from least to greatest:

 1. The Clay Nafel (tiny fish, kinda like a minnow, used mostly as bait or for pet food) is the least valuable coin. One Clay (most coins are just called by what they're made of) won't get you anything except maybe another clay because someone felt bad for you because you're so poor
 2.	 The Marble Uzhama (sea bird, preys on tiny fish like the Nifel) is worth 10 Clays. For one Marble you could get a small heel of burnt bread or a few seeds.
 3.	 The Copper Yoko (small, flightless bird, a little larger than a chicken, will try try to eat just about anything you give it) is the basic unit of currency       --the Trollish dollar,  if you will-- and is worth 10 Marbles or 100 Clays. For one Copper you could get a half-loaf of bread or a decent-sized wedge of cheese.
 4.	 The Bronze Palash (light yet strong shield ideal for forming a shield-wall) is worth 10 Coppers. For one Bronze you could get a loaf of bread, a large wedge of cheese, a tranche of meat, and a cup of beer or cheap wine, or you could get one night's stay at a shifty inn.
 5.	 The Iron Moro (hammer) is worth 25 coppers. For one Iron you can get an even nicer meal than described above or stay for a night at a decent inn.
 6.	 The Steel Ravak (sword used by both navy sailors and pirates) is worth  50 coppers. For one Steel you could get some relatively nice wine, small livestock,  a round-trip ferry ride from one end of the main island to the other, or a night with a prostitute.
 7.	 The Silver Kau (basic unit of weight like the pound) is worth 100 Coppers. The Kau is so-called because 100 Coppers together weigh about 1 Kau. For one Silver you could get one or two pieces of decent leather armour, a decent dagger,  a few books, or a small, self-drawn cart.
 8.	 The Silver Rocha (large horse-like creature commonly used as a steed) is worth 10 Kaus or 1000 Coppers.  For one Rocha you could get a larger, Rocha-drawn cart (but due to inflation over the centuries, a Rocha can no longer be gotten for a Silver Rocha), a full set of leather armour,  or a golem/automaton.
 9.	 The Silver Balan (a large whale-like creature who only dwells in cold waters) is worth 50 Kaus or 5000 Coppers. For one Balan you could get a set of Bronze Armour, a small plot of land (undeveloped land, mind you), or a Rocha.
10. The Golden Rom (crown) is worth 100 Kaus or 10,000 Coppers. For one Rom you could get a decent house (unfurnished, of course), a year's tuition at one of the academies, or a small fishing boat.
11. The Golden {SUN} (sun) is worth 10 Roms, 1000 Kaus, or 100,000 Coppers. For one {SUN} you could get a large house, you could start a business,  or you could hire an assassin.
12. The Golden Uma (huge, rare, long-lived, ferocious sea serpent that is nothing like the benevolent serpents the Ocazvalmo came over on) is worth 100 Roms, 10,000 Kaus, or 10,000,000 Coppers. For one Uma you could get a grand mansion, a fleet of battleships,  or a giant, gem-encrusted golden statue of yourself in some dramatic pose, which spouts the finest wine from your mouth and coppers from your hands.
13. The Platinum Riyo (dragon) is worth 1000 Roms, 1,000,000 Kaus, or 100,000,000 Coppers. The Platinum is used almost exclusively by royals and nobles to buy palaces or enormous stretches of land, and is also held by banks and insurance companies.
14. The Arcanite Hadhra (creature of legend said to have dwarfed even a giant) is worth 100 Platinums, 100,000 Roms, 10,000,000 Kaus, or 1,000,000,000 Coppers. It's the kind of money even Royals don't spend lightly. Just one Hadhra could purchase an entire lordship. Just like the Platinum,  the Arcanite is kept by banks and the largest few insurance companies.
15. The Mithril Shofa (throne) is the largest and rarest of coins. It is worth 100 Arcanites, 10,000 Platinums, 10,000,000 Roms, 1,000,000,000 Kaus, or 100,000,000,000 Coppers...or it would if anyone were to spend one, but the coin's value is so great that for those who carry one it is a symbol of power. Every king of the Trollish kingdom for hundreds of generations has held a single Mithril Shofa as a symbol of their rule and left it to their heirs when they either died or stepped down. There are only 100 Shofas in existence. Eighty-nine of them are accounted for, but the remaining 11 are missing. Only three banks in the Trollish kingdom [unfinished]
