The Informant

The entire battle was routed in an hour. The gnoll units expected resistance from a thrown together group of town levies, but when the treants attacked it caused a break in rank. Soon after the catapults were destroyed and the remaining forces dispersed as news of their leaders death reached them.

The informant for the consortium was beside himself. "I can't believe it. You all just killed the most famous lieutenant in the entire military. Locutos' death will reach the ends of the world, without a doubt." He paused to think before continuing. "We're going to need another month, at least, with this change of pace, but it isn't safe for you to be here anymore. You're going to need to rough it in the wilderness for some time. If they return it won't be with a strike force, they'll show up with a real army and there will be no hope of making it out." He reaches into his pockets on his blazer and hands you all an envelope. "Inside are forged documents with pseudonyms. If you happen to run into any civilized folks while roughing it, use those names and stories. My boss will write to your pouch when the time to move comes, with detailed instructions. This will be the last time we see each other likely, so, uh, good luck gentlemen." He started to walk away before stopping himself, and turning to face you says "One last thing. The preparations to move your standing military at your castle are set. Write to us which if any should come or stay to help with the assault on the palace." He takes a deep breath. "Things are about to get very different in this country, one way or another."
