Well, I am now the Owner of /r/moddedminecraft BUT what I propose, is that the Reddit team would stay the EXACT same, and over time, move people across there.
I am not saying it will be easy, or instant.
BUT, I think it would benefit the community LONG term.
Having a subreddit named after a specific organisation is shit man... People will use /r/moddedminecraft if the right people are there like /r/ftb currently is.
I would instate everyone that currently runs the Subreddit and just start again.
Between us all, we have a reach that is CRAZY... We could get the word out there SO easily.

Well the ball is in your court whether you guys want to get involved, because I will at least try to make this popular, it wont be easy and I would MASSIVELY prefer to do it with you guys but theres a band of us (I am the only ATM person pushing this, this isnt an ATM thing) that want to try it
It seem silly having a Subreddit about "Modded Minecraft" named after 1 organisation...
Imagine if /r/allthemods is where people went to find out about all things modded minecraft... just doesnt make sense

it doesn't, but until reddit lets you change subreddit names we are stuck with it. this kind of thing has been tried again and again, and it never sticks. sure we could force everyone to migrate over, and lose a bunch of users in the process. but we'd also lose all the post history, flair setups, and just everything else associated with the subreddit

There will be a weird period of limbo, for sure, when everything that "was" now "isn't"... But all that is such short term issues IMO. The post history would still exist, x-posts would still exist. I know it isnt without its drawbacks T, I really do, and I wouldnt bring it up to you guys if I didnt think it stands a great chance of doing well if we all give it a good bash.
All I ask is that you and the guys have a chat about it, weigh up the pros/cons in regards to short term and long term and then let me know... We are going to try it anyway, as we think it should move to a better named, less team focussed branding (like you have tried to do with banner).
But I'd rather have the guys from the existing one help with the transition

In regards to going ahead without you being involved, I would have to seek council on that before I could comment. I certainly would want to, but I would also be aware of possible ramifications behind doing it. The select sounding group of influential people I have spoken to think it would be a short term issue with long term benefits for the community. So that would weigh heavy on my mind.
If you guys did not want to be part of it, i get it, you have worked hard to get it to where it is, but I would hope you saw my goal and sentiment to not hold judgements for attempting it.
But ideally, I do hope I we can just "bite the bullet" and move the Beast to new pastures.
(Shit attempt at a joke/analogy.. but you catch my drift lol)
