  1. While Beric the Longtooth was left abandoned in an alleyway as a newborn and taken in by a well-meaning if not particularly law-abiding family of weasels, the early life of Antoine Gillet was something of a mirror-image. The small ferret child was raised in an orphanage in a better part of the city, and often called 'Ant' due to his small size. In order to display their generous nature and care for even those of the non-prevalent races, a wolf couple of low-nobility adopted and raised Antoine along with their other children. He was given all the privileges of circumstance that Beric's childhood on the streets denied him, and as part of his lessons and education Antoine learned of the various racial stereotypes, and not unaware of the criminal organizations and brotherhoods within the city, Antoine decided to devote his life to breaking the stereotype and joining the constabulary, joining as a footman. While not an extraordinary posting, it none the less pleased his adopted family to have their child serve as a beacon of law and order, further increasing their minor social standing. It was during his first year in the force that he first encountered the wolf Beric, and though he was never the focus of any of the raids or arrests he was on, he always seemed to be in the periphery. However, there was never enough direct evidence to truly pin any of the criminal activity to the wolf, and he'd always be let go. Seeing the failure in the system to manage to muster enough evidence to put the CLEARLY GUILTY wolf behind bars, Antoine chose to rise in the ranks, eventually becoming an Inspector so he could partake in his own independent investigations and gather evidence for himself, rather than relying on the incompetent (in his thoughts) other members of the constabulary.
  2. In essence he acts as Javert from Les Miserables, with an obsession of bringing Beric to justice, though his other tasks often force him away from his chosen pursuit. One day he hopes to find incontrovertible evidence of Beric's complicity in criminal activity and show the smiling wolf the inside of the jail.
