TFW Re:ACTION Show 27 Match x - Dr. Nathaniel Isaacs vs Derrick Bastion [Written by Ross Brownell]

Dru: “The following matchup is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first to the ring: Dr. Nathaniel Isaacs!”

Tango ’Til You’re Sore by Tom Waits plays.

Dr. Isaacs disdainfully walks to the ring, pretending to ignore the hatred of the crowd and carrying the bloodstained steel chair he hit Ben with. He unfolds the chair and faces it to the ring, as if the spectre of Ben Kohlberg is watching.

Dru: “And his opponent: Derrick Bastion!”

Tubthumping by Chumbawumba plays.

Derrick throws the curtain open with flourish and steps out of the back, opening his arms to the crowd. He starts to saunter to the ring, but stumbles on the walkway and jogs a couple of steps to keep his balance. He turns a wide smile to the crowd again and waves to show he’s good and then jogs up the steps to the apron. He leans against the ropes, but he leans too far and he slips through the top and second rope into the ring. He pops up, grinning but ready for a fight.

Derrick turns to go to his corner but Isaacs blindsides him before the bell can even ring. Nailing the back of Derrick’s head with a forearm and then stepping on his throat as he tries to pull himself up in the corner. The referee pulls Isaacs away and asks Derrick if he’s okay. Derrick says he’s good so the ref officially starts the match.

Warren: “Dr. Isaacs has been ratcheting up the viciousness lately and he shows it right there by blindsiding Bastion.

Isaacs charges towards Derrick in the corner, but the smaller man rolls out of the way and springs back to his feet before laying some shots of his own into Isaacs. After Derrick lands the fifth or sixth rapid fire right the ref this time pulls Derrick away, this gives Isaacs just the time he needs to lean over the ref and rake the eyes of Bastion. As Derrick flails wildly away, Isaacs lines up his shot and takes Bastion’s legs out from under him with a vile chop-block. Bastion instantly clutches his right knee after he goes down.

Warren: “Now Isaacs has a target and things could go down hill very quickly for young Derrick Bastion.

Isaacs wastes no time, and as soon as Derrick’s leg is in his reach the good doctor has twisted his body around it and locked Bastion in a twisted-looking knee bar. Derrick fights like a trapped animal desperately swatting and clawing at Isaac’s legs before realising his thrashing has got him close enough to reach the ropes, Isaacs takes almost the full length of the referee’s 5-count before breaking the hold.

Isaacs chooses to wait now, suddenly calm, perhaps confident that he’s already damaged ‘The Highlight’s’ knee enough to win this match. Derrick climbs his way up the ropes but he’s struggling to put weight on to his twisted-up right knee. Isaacs begins to close the distance but Derrick leans back on to the ropes kicking Isaacs in the chest and flipping himself on to the apron. Bastion see his chance for the Highlight Reel but finds himself tumbling down to the mat after his knee gives out on the top rope. Isaacs capitalises immediately.

Warren: “Oh, that could be decisive, there was nothing wrong with the execution on that attempt but Derrick’s knee wasn’t up to it and now Isaacs has him again!”

Isaacs drags Derrick by the ankles into the centre of the ring, Derrick tries to resist but Isaacs places a couple quick boots to the jaw before stepping through his opponents legs and tying Derrick up in a clinical Sharpshooter. Derrick cries out, still fiercely fighting, trying to escape the hold he’s got plenty of energy still left but his bad knee is weighing him down. He struggles to the ropes but Dr Isaacs walks him right back into the middle of the ring. Derrick tries to roll under the hold and get back on his back, but Isaacs keeps adjusting. Finally Derrick feints throwing himself one way before quickly ducking the other and finding himself on his back looking up into the frenzied eyes of Dr Isaacs. He reaches up and grabs ahold of the doctor’s shirt rolling him up into a small package!

And Isaacs kicks out! He’s up well before Bastion and immediately drops a knee into the young man’s face. Isaacs’ patience is razor thin now and he picks Bastion up lining himself up to hit the ‘F Grade.’ As Isaacs lifts him Bastion manages to swing his weight out of the Dr’s grip and they’re in a front-facelock. In a sheer desperation move Derrick lifts with all his remaining strength getting the larger man up in a suplex position and dropping him with a crushing Falcon Arrow.

Warren: “He did the deal! Bastion catches Isaacs with the Puppy Pound! but can he get the cover?!”

Derrick’s knee just about held up to perform the move but it is sending jolts of pain up and down his leg as he just about manages to lean forward and get an arm over Isaacs.

Isaacs puts his foot on the bottom rope! Derrick didn’t have time to think of ring positioning as he desperately drove the doctor to the mat. Derrick is overwhelmed, searching for an idea and one strikes him as he looks to the top turnbuckle. Derrick slides away from Isaacs and under the bottom rope as he attempts to drag himself up the ropes. Derrick is struggling but after an affirming shout to the crowd he steels himself and very nearly gets to the top before Isaacs throws himself to the ropes and sends Derrick flying to the outside and face-first into the blood-stained steel chair.

Warren: “Sickening impact! I don’t know if Bastion’s even conscious right now.”

Isaacs looks over the top rope with disgust at the broken Bastion before exiting the ring. He hoists Derrick up and manages to push the dead-weight of an unconscious Derrick Bastion into the ring before covering him.

Dru: “The winner of this match: Dr. Nathaniel Isaacs.”

Warren: “My God, a decent fight from Derrick Bastion but he was no match tonight for the surgical brutality of Dr. Isaacs.”

Isaacs gets his hand raised but quickly rolls out of the ring and over to his chair. He picks up the literal object of his affections and holds it close. As he notices the new dent caused by Derrick Bastion’s forehead his face cracks into a smile.
