  1. Story Background
  2. Shortly after the events of F-Zero GX, the hidden development of machines with interchangeable parts that have been going on in secret for a long while have been made available for race use. Some of the more high performing and costly parts turned out to be beyond state of the art, leading to wealthy, less experienced pilots perform shockingly well in GP races. Rumor has it someone managed to obtained detailed info on the Rainbow Phoenix machine during his stay on this century, which lead to rapid development of the custom parts.
  3.
  4. Rumors also say that Don Genie and Black Shadow were involved with this engineering group, and that some of the designs have been implemented to the Fat Shark even during Black Shadow’s reign of terror, several months before the unveiling of interchangeable parts.
  5.
  6. In light of this, all of these so called “custom machines” have been banned. But the engineers and designers who have developed them fought back. The F-Zero Committee made the following deal to them: These machines would be allowed to race again in two years, but the current research and designs associated with them must be released to the rest of the F-Zero machine designers and engineers to equal the playing field. The full terms are undisclosed, but they agreed to these terms, and continued their development to these custom parts.
  7.
  8. The next two years the veteran pilots and their teams were in a race to upgrade their machines using these new designs and models. There isn’t much improvement in terms of handling and integrity, but the gains in power and speed are said to be at least 20%, which would match the fastest custom machines that were shown off. It would sure make for faster, but much more dangerous and difficult racing.
  9.
  10. What will happen once these supercharged machines are unleashed? We can only wait and see.
  11.
  12. Story Background for Version 2.0
  13. It has been sometime since the start of the F-Zero season where the leaked futuristic blueprints of the F-Zero machine of the 29th century has been leaked and inevitably had to be allowed, forever changing F-Zero. However due to this racing has never been faster and more exciting, pushing every pilot beyond their limits.
  14.
  15. The company behind their infamous custom parts have now applied their findings to upgrade the rest of their selection, however since these machines aren’t as well integrated as the original machines since the parts are interchangeable, the power and speeds their boosters achieve is lower than many of the original machines. However due to their head start with this technology, the superior handling of these machines are still ahead, balancing things out.
  16.
  17. Many pilots have been able to upgrade their machines during the middle of the season, mainly the strength of their shields and maneuverability after having upped their machine’s overall speed. However some had to dial back on certain aspects due to the machine breaking down too often, forcing them out of races.
  18.
  19. With these massive upgrades, Time Trials have become very popular to both pilots and fans to see how low of a time they can set and perhaps be a record holder. Both the pilot and viewers can compare their current run with ghosts from previous runs which makes the event even more exciting to witness for fans and for pilots to compare themselves to previously set runs.
  20.
  21. While some have been saying that these upgraded machines are too fast and dangerous, without a doubt these events have skyrocketed F-Zero’s already astronomical levels of popularity to levels unheard of. There is no stopping this sport.
  22.
  23. Interestingly, Don Genie, who used to participate in races last season, has stopped participating this season. It’s a complete mystery as to what he is up to these days…
  24.
  25. Story for Version 2.1
  26. “Falcon continues his win streak to 4 races with a dominating performance! Falcon can do no wrong no matter what comes his way with his Neo Blue Falcon!”
  27. “He certainly can’t! But that’s enough on Falcon for now. Mr. Zero, who else stood out to you from this race in your view?”
  28. “I have to say even though he finished 16th, The Kid, Dai Goroh, is punching well beyond his weight with his little Silver Rat. He is one to look out for when he grows strong enough to drive a-”
  29.
  30. Dai turns off the TV, tired of hearing this same narrative over and over again
  31.
  32. “Every single time they just need to mention how I’m at least 5 years away until I can drive the big boy machines, contend for getting a win, and that I will do all of these great things in the future. They write me off today just because I’m still a kid. Well that’s about to change.”
  33.
  34. Undisclosed location
  35. In a dimly lit garage, Dai was with a very large man. A few steps away from them is Dai’s Silver Rat.
  36.
  37. “So, is it done?”, Dai asks
  38. “It is, little kid.”
  39.
  40. “Again, don’t call me that! How many times do I have to tell you!”
  41.
  42. “Heheheh, well you still are a kid. You remember our arrangement now, do you?”
  43.
  44. “Of course I do! I’m not as dumb as my dad ya know!”
  45.
  46. “Well that’s obvious, but it takes more than smarts to control a F-Zero machine with these brand new upgrades that you requested, that only I have access to. Are you sure you can handle it with the way you are now?”
  47.
  48. “Without question. I will show my dad and the whole galaxy that I’m not a kid anymore! Watch me win the next race, Don Genie!”
  49.
  50. Don Genie grins widely
  51.
  52. “Well then, maybe I won’t be able to call you little kid anymore. Whether or not you’re successful, your time being a child is all over. There’s no turning back now.”
  53.
  54. Dai looks at Don with a stern expression
  55.
  56. “I have decided long ago. No more playing around. Anyone who looks down on me from now on will regret it.”
